Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

Personal:

I'm married, have 8 kids (7 daughters and one son) and 28 grandkids. I have a great supportive husband.  The grandsons and grand daughters are now tied at 14.  I have 2 grand daughters married and one going on a mission to Australia.

I was off work so at 7am Duke and I went outside to run.  It was slippery and foggy so about slipping twice in the first 20 feet I decided not to run and came back in the house and did my arm weight exercises.  I am so tired of winter.

I am so happy.  It was finally less slippery and I was able to run 3 miles outside with Duke.  We had to run along the road in the bike lane because most of the side walks were still slippery.  I really love running outside and so does Duke.

I was finally able to run outside.  I ran my usual course and going south the wind was blowing so it was very cold.  I turned around a little early because of the cold wind and also because I have a cold.  Going north it didn't feel cold.  I am so glad to finally be able to run outside after a week of no running.

I have been sick all week.  Today I felt a little better and was able to walk up and down the stairs several times before I had to rest.  I hope by Saturday I will feel good enough to run.

This is the first time I can remember that I went the whole week without any exercise.  I've had a bad sinus infection and I was lucky to make it from my bed to the kitchen table and back.  I have Monday off for presidents day so I am hoping I feel good enough by then to run.

Our group finally met for the first time since Christmas Eve.  We met at the park at the bottom of Tithing Hill and ran along the trail.  It was beautiful weather and so nice to run outside.  It was also nice to see the other group members.

I was able to run with my run group this morning.  We met across from Life Time Fitness and ran north on the parkway trail.  They were going 10 but Duke and I only did 5.  This was only the second time in a year that I have gone 5 miles.  I am going to try to work up to 6 so I can do the Riverton 10k in July.  Now I am going to do my arm weight exercises.

Duke had a sore leg so I ran at 7:15 by myself.  I did the 6 mile course that I used to run with my daughters when they were training for cross country.  It was a good run.  Then I got ready for our Easter Party.  My daughter from Idaho and her husband and 6 kids have been staying with us since Thursday.  It has been a lot of fun, but noisy and messy.

We had our annual Iron Dean Memorial run.  It is hard to believe he has been gone 2 years.  He was a great guy and I enjoyed running with him.  We met at Michelle Margetts and since 13th west was closed northbound at 114th I ran to her house with Duke.  We ran from her house south on 13th to Sirmingo and then they went east on Sirmingo and I turned around and headed south on 13th west.  They went down to Lampton and then north past the cemetary and then back our to 13th.  I ran north on 13th to almost where they were coming out and then turned around and headed south until I got to Dean's subdivision and then turned and ran to his house.  Kris was waiting on her porch for us.  I was the first one there since I took a short cut but the others came about 30 seconds after me.  We stopped and visited with Kris and took a couple of pictures and then headed back to Michelle's.  I just came home instead because I had a lot to do and I did not need a chocolate donut.  It was a good run.

Since were moving I went to run group.  Michelle Margetts was the only one there.  We ran along the parkway trail and she ran slow for me.  I mentioned that we were going to move at 6pm and she and her kids came and helped.  It was so much work.  After we got all our stuff in on Friday we helped move Leslie into our house.  I don't know when I was ever as tired as I was Friday and Saturday night.

Duke and I met the group at the South Jordan Library.  They were doing 7 but Duke and I only did 3.  Duke has had swollen glands and has been on antibiotics for a over a week so I took him back to the vet.  They think he has cancer so we are very sad.  All of his glands are swollen and he lost 9 pounds in 9 days.  I sure hope he can bounce back and feel better for a while longer.  He is on prednisone and his swollen glands are going down.

I met the run group at the church by Bingham.  Duke wanted to go even though he did not feel super.  We only went 2 miles because I did not want Duke to get too tired.  After I got home I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushup.

Leslie came over with William(Anna and Hailey were still sleeping) and Christine came over also.  Christine pushed the stroller with William in and I let Duke pull me.  They were ahead so Duke ran fast and we caught up.  We ran west on my street and then out 2240 to 118th and then west to 2700 and then turned around and came back.  Duke and I got tired.  I let William have my water bottle so Duke kept getting drinks out of people's sprinklers.  It was a good run.  I do now know how much longer Duke will be able to run since he has Lymphoma but I hope he can go for a while longer.

I rode my bike to Christine's and then we rode south on 2700 to 134th and then west to 3600 and then north to 114th and then east to redwood, south to 126th and then I turned on Kimber Lane to my house and Christine kept going to her house.  It was a fun ride.

We went to out family outing at Mill Hollow.  My son and two of my grandkids and I hiked from out campgroung to Mill Hollow Reservoir.  I thought it was only 1 mile but it was 3 and I was so tired by the time I got there that I sent my son back to send someone over in the car to pick us up.  My grand daughter fished and my grandson and I watched until my daughter got there.

I did the Terrain Run with my daughter Christine and my son Ben.  There were lots of obstacles with a lot of mud.  Some of the obstacles were too hard for me so I went around them.  Ben and Christine went slow and helped me.  It was fun.

This morning I rode bikes with Christine.  We did our usual 12 mile course.  We stopped to take a drink from our bottles and as Christine started out she tipped over on someone's garbage can.  She did not get hurt but we got a good laugh.  It was a good ride.  After lunch and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups.

Today was a sad day.  I ran without Duke because he was sick.  I went the 3.5 mile block.  I thought about Duke the whole time because I  knew today was his last day on the earth.  My husband said he watched out the window when I left and whinned.  When I got home I gave him lots of loves and then we took him to the vet to get put down.  He had cancer and was getting to where he could not even get up.  From now when I run I will think of Duke and the great running partner he was.

i'm sorry about duke. my dad's dog was put down this past week for the exact same thing. she had a tumor in her stomach and reached a point where she couldn't stand up anymore.

i know you and duke shared a lot of miles together. he was a lucky dog. :)

Today as I ran I thought of my sweet Duke and how much I loved him and miss him.  He loved running even more than I did.  I am so grateful that I had him for almost 10 years.  He was the most handsome dog I ever knew and had the sweetest personality.  I know he is happy now running with a healthy body.

I used the treadmill 10 minutes, the elliptical 10 minutes and the weights for 10 minutes at the condo.  I am at my sisters get away having lots of fun.  We went to the Olympic Park and did the zip lines, the alpine slide the ropes course and the extreme tubing.  I had lots of fun and got a ton of exercise.

I rode my bike on my 12 mile course.  That night  Christine and  I went swimming at the South County Pool.  We decided we better start training for the swim part of our Triathamom.  Neither of us really like swimming but we made it 4 laps with a rest after each lap.

I met the group at Riverton High School.  Cheris was the only one there.  We ran the loop in the subdivision across the street and then I ran town 126th to broomhead and through the subdivison past my house and then back to the school.

Christine and I did the Riverton Tri Stake Triathlon.  We swam 300 meters in South County Pool, rode our bikes 6 miles along the trail and then ran 2 miles.  It was a good warmup for next weeks Triathamom.

Today Christine and I did the Triathamom.  The swim was 300 and it got me more tired than last week.  The bike was 10 miles and I rode fast.  I passed Christine up along the trail.  For the run I was very tired.  I ran and walked the whole way.  I was 1st in my age group and Christine was 36th in her age but she had 109 in her age group and I only had 4.   She won me by about 15 minutes but that is okay because I am 30 years older than she is.  We had fun.

I met the group at Riverton High.  This was the first time I was able to run this week because I have to be to work at 6am every day and without Duke I do not want to run alone at 5am.  I have spent every spare moment over cleaning our old house.  After Leslie moved out we found out it is not going to close until the end of March so we need to rent it out again.
