| Location: South Jordan,Ut,USA Member Since: Jan 11, 2009 Gender: Female Goal Type: 5 K Finish Running Accomplishments: I've been running for the past 25 years. I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then. I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons. I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35. I won Thrid Place in my age group.
Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon. They did great and I was glad to just finish. I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.
I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die. I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.
We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons. Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak. I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.
2010 Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group
Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group
South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group
Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group
Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010 Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group
March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

| | The temperature was about 8 degrees this morning and my son and husband thought I would get frost bite if I ran but I knew I would be fine if I dressed warm. I drove to the Park in Riverton and saw Alan and Eric just taking off. They came back for me and we headed on the Riverton 10K course. Eric didn't have anything covering his face so we turned around and ran back to his car to get a shirt. When we got back to his car Michelle and Cheris ran up. They had come early to get in some extra miles. They thought the 10k course would be too snowy so we ran down the road west past the Post Office and out to 126th. Then down past 2700 and then we turned around and headed back. Cheris and Michelle had to be somewhere so they stopped and I stopped with them and Eric and Alan continued on. By the end I was very hot because I put on layers. The only thing that got cold on me were my hands and they warmed up after about a mile. It was a good run. |
| | I used the elliptical for 15 minutes and the stationary bike for 15 minutes then I did my stomach exercises. | |
| | Since our running group didn't meet this morning, after work and a short nap I used the elliptical for 15 minutes and the stationary bike for 15. It sure isn't as much fun as running outside, in fact it isn't fun at all. |
| | After work I took a short but much needed nap since I woke up at 3:30 am and didn't get back top sleep. After my nap I did my arm weight exercises. Then I cleaned the house, made dinner and ate dinner. Then I used the elliptical for 15 minutes and the stationary bike for 15 minutes. |
| | Met the group for the early miles. I was the first one there but shortly after two cars pulled in. When I saw them get out I got out and it wasn't runners it was a couple of guys going across the street to meet their ride to work. I got back in my car and waited a few more minutes and when no one came I started out. I ran down 2200 from 98th to 106th and back. When I got back I saw a few more cars in the parking lot so I figured some other runners had come. I ran back out to 98th and then west on 98th and then back to the church. The others still weren't back so I started running south on 2200 towards 106th again. I saw some other runners coming north on 2200 and ran towards them. I knew it was runners from our group so I turned around and headed back to the church. When we got back Peggy said they were a few minutes late and had run south on 2200 and then they turned and ran through prospector so that is where I missed them. When the later group got there we ran to 98th and then west to 3200. I visited with Kris Bullock along the way. When I got to 3200 and turned around and headed back. It was a good run and I was only cold for the first mile. | |
| | Met the group at 7am at Cheris's house for our long run. They were going to do a 7 mile loop two times but I was only going to do it once. We ran through the subdivision and out to 118th and then up and north through another subdivision and then out to 114th and then up to the next street and then west to 2700. Kris Bullock went slow with me. We crossed 2700 and went west through another subdivision. She and I were a ways back so we got lost and eventually went out to 118th and then back down to 2700 and then north to 126th and then west to 3200. We ran north down 3200 and met Lisa Dudley and her friend running the other direction. She stopped and talked to us for a minute and then we continued on. We ran north to 118th and then east to redwood road and then south to 123rd and back to Cheris's house. We ended up going 9 miles. It was a good run and I had a nice visit with Kris. It was very nice of her to go slow with me.

After work and a nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 61 mens pushups.
| |
| | Met the group at the SJ soccer fields for the early miles. I started off early because I am so slow. They caught up with me about half way through. They all passed me except Kelli and she stayed and ran with me the rest of the way. Thanks Kelli it was fun to have someone to talk to. I had to leave after the first 5k because I had to be to work at around 6am. It was very cold when I started, especially running south. I almost wished I would have brought a scarf, but after I turned west I was fine. |
| | After work and a nap I did may arm weight exercises. | |
| | Met the group across from the fitness center to run the regular miles. We ran out to the road and ran south to the last street and turned west and ran up the hill to Lampton. Then we ran south on Lampton clear to the end, up and down hills and then turned around and ran back. I started before everyone and they caught up and passed my before the first turn up the hill. When I got to the hill and turned left as I passed the next street the group came up from behind. They had taken a side street. Then when we got to the top of the big hill we turned around. | |
| | I went to Leslie's house to run this morning and since we both had a lot going we decided to only run 3 miles. We ran from her house down 40th west to 98th and back. I wore long pants and all my warm stuff and was hot on the way out to 40th west. We stopped just passed the light to take off our warm stuff. Leslie stuffed them in the back of her jacket. On the way back the wind was blowing so we got our warm stuff back out to put on. One of my arm warmers was missing so we looked for it and found it on the way back. After Leslie made breakfast for me and my other daughter and son-in-law and their two kids I came home and cleaned up. Then I baby sat 4 of my grandkids for about 5 hours. It was fun to see the grandkids, but it was also nice when they left. Two of the grandkids were two years old, one was 8 and the youngest was 9 months. It was fun but boy was it busy. My 8 year old helped a lot. |
| | I'm at my daughter Jenny's house in Idaho. I used her treadmill and her exercise bike. I wanted to run outside because the weather is very nice but they are surrounded by dirt roads and they are all mud piles. Jenny's baby is due in 5 weeks and she is still way faster than I am. She ran 2 and 1\2 miles in just over 18 minutes. I'm not used to the treadmill and I kept pulling out the automatic shut off. I kept shutting it off about every two minutes. I still got a very good workout. |
| | I didn't go to running group this morning because we were still at my daughters. We left at about 8:30 this morning for out 3 hour drive home. We were in a slight accident that could have been fatal. I was in the back seat when my husband slammed on the brakes. I saw all kinds of stuff flying by. Luckily none it hit the windshield. The only damage was the rubber part under the bumper. A car going in the Southbound lane on the freeway veered off into the median and was headed straight for us. It hit the barrier which was two metal wires connected to metal poles. Luckily this stopped the car from hitting us head on. It continued on in the median and finally came to a stop. We stopped and waited for the police. They think the person driving the car had either a stroke or a heart attack. It really scared us all to death, but we are very thankful to be alive. After we got home we unpacked and took a short nap. Then I cleaned the house and did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 75 mens pushups.
| |
| | After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises. Then I went to the store. When I got back I used the elliptical for 15 minutes and the stationary bike for 15 minutes. |
| | Met the group at Centennial Park for the early miles. Only Lisa and Julie were there. I started off early and they caught me fast. We ran through the subdivision and out to 3600 west and they continued on and I turned around and went the same way back. When I got back I kept running past the park out to 134th and then back. There were about 6-8 more people that came for the regular miles. We ran the same route and I started off early again and turned around at 3600. I end up going 5 miles while everyone else goes 6 because I am quite slow. I'm glad I can at least keep going. I got a good workout and then went home to get ready for work. After dinner tonight I will ref basketball games for a couple of hours and then go visiting teaching. | |
| | After work and a short nap I used the elliptical for 15 minutes and the stationary bike for 15 minutes. Then I did 3 reps of my stomach exercises increasing it by 10 each time and doing a wall sit in between reps. |
| | I went to Leslie's this morning and we jogged to Chrissy's and back. We left her house and ran out to 40th west north to 9800 and then east to 2700 then north again to Bueno Vista which is almost to 7800. Then we turned into the subdivision and stopped at Chrissy's house. She jogged back with us to 90th south and then turned around and headed home. We saw a lot of runners and one was Tom Boud who used to run with our running group. We made it to Leslie's street and I wasn't as tired as the last time we ran that far. It was more slippery on the way back so it took a little bit longer. We had a good run and I enjoyed the visit with Leslie and Christine. | |
| | After work and short nap I did my leg weight/ stomach exercises along with 70 mens pushups. They I got dinner in the oven. While dinner was cooking I used the elliptical for 20 minutes and the stationary bike for 15. |
| | Met the group for the early miles at the park across from Lifestyles Fitness. Only Julie, Cheris, Aaron and I came to the early miles. We ran south to 114th and then ran up 114th to 13 west and turned around and headed back. Then we ran east on 114th heading towards the railroad crossing. I was behind the group so I turned around after I got to the top of the hill and before going down the next hill. I headed back to the park and when I got back the rest of the group was there and ready to run. They wondered where the others were and I told them they were checking out the railroad crossing over 114th. We headed out and met the others just before 114th. We headed east on 114th so everyone else could check out the railroad crossing. They all headed back before I made it to the crossing. They all turned south on the roller coaster road and I headed back to the park because I needed to be to work at 7. It was a good run., | |
| | I did my arm weight exercises and then I used the elliptical for 15 minutes and the stationary bike for 15 minutes. | |
| | Met the group at the park at the bottom of tithing hill for the early miles. I started off first and headed down the trail. We turned left and headed down the trail. I wore a tank top and shorts because I thought it was warmer, so I was a little cold for the first 2 miles. By the time I got to the big hill through subdivision I was plenty warm. When we got back to the park we jogged around the parking lot for a few minutes while we waited for the rest of the group. When they got there we went down the trail again but this time we turned right and headed south. The group passed me up right away except Debbie Kroll she went slow with me for 15 minutes and then we turned around and headed back since I had to be to work at 7. It was nice of Debbie to go slow with me. We had a nice visit. |
| | Leslie and I met the group to run the Riverton Half Marathon course. We got there about 15 minutes early and started out. It was chilly, but I knew I'd get hot so I wore a tank top and shorts. We went slow and steady and I made it up tithing hill without stopping. We thought the group would catch us at 126th but they didn't. We ran down the hill by the pool and then headed south on the trail. We ran about 1 1/2 miles on the trail before the group caught us. I told them to make sure they saved us a doughnut. When we got to the trail head on 144th we stopped and ate a half a chocolate cake doughnut(my favorite) and some chocolate milk. I was tired and that gave me energy to continue on. It got cold off and on so I put my arm warmers and gloves back on. We made it to the dreaded "S" curve and I was able to run all the way up. We decided to run straight down 13th west to the park instead of going out to redwood because Leslie had to be home to help her friend frame the basement. We made it back to the park and Cheris, Michell, Aaron and Julie were still there. We visited for a minute and then headed home. It was a good run and I made it to the end. | |
| | After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 50 mens pushups. I don't know why I couldn't do more but next time I'll try for 75. Then I used the elliptical for 20 minutes and the stationary bike for 25. | |
| | Today was the most freezing day I have run this winter. I met the group and Bingham for the early miles. Peggy, Mike and Julie were there. We headed north on 2200 and I felt like I was in Antartica with the wind and snow blowing in my face. We turned west at the first neighborhood and it was a little less freezing that direction. Then after that block we went north again. Cheris caught up with us there and Peggy went slow with me. Peggy and I went east in the next neighborhood and went around that block and then back to Bingham. Only two other people came for the regular miles. I told them to go ahead and I would turn around at 15 minutes. We went back to the one neighborhood and after I ran through it I headed back. When I got out to 2200 I met Jerry (Julie's husband) he had run from his house to Bingham. I told him which way the group went and headed back to the parking lot. I was so glad to be finished running. | |
| | After work and a nap I did my arm weight exercises. It's a good thing I am going to running group tomorrow because tonight I went to Costco with my daughter and she bought me one of those delicious Ice Cream Bars that are dipped in chocolate and rolled in Almonds. They must be about 2000 calories but boy are they good. |
| | Met the group at Bingham for the early miles. Only Julie, Aaron and Mike were there. The temperature was colder than Tuesday but it didn't feel as cold because it wasn't windy. I was cold for about the first 1 1/2 miles and then I warmed up. Jerry and Peggy came for the regular miles. We ran through Temple View, Bonanza and Bridle Oaks the first time and the second time we skipped Bridle Oaks and went straight on 2200 to 98th. The group kept going and I turned around and headed back so I could be to work by 7. | |
| | After work and a short nap I decided to take Duke for a short run. It has been almost a year since he hurt his leg and he seems to be doing pretty good. We ran out to redwood and down to the light at SJ park and back. He really enjoyed the run and he wasn't limping after so I am going to start taking him on 1 mile runs every other day. |
| | Leslie and I got lazy today and only ran 3 miles. She wanted to finish up the framing in her basement and I was just lazy. We ran down 40th west to 98th and back to Leslie's. | |
| | I took Duke for a 1 mile run. He was very excited. Then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 70 mens pushups. |
| | Met the group at the SJ Soccer fields for the early miles. I was the only one there and was about to leave and then Julie showed up. We started off on the 5K course and Julie went slow with me. Mike and Peggy caught up with us at 2700 and then Peggy went slow with me. We turned at Canterwood because we needed to be back for the others. When we got back I left because I needed to be to work at 6. |
| | After work and a short nap I took Duke on a 1 mile run. He really had a fun time. I was going to do my arm weight exercises but instead I went to Leslies' house to help my husband. He did the wiring in her basement and needed help cleaning up and hauling all his material up to his truck. | |
| | Met the group for the early miles at the church on Tithing Hill. There were four others there. I started out early. We ran out to 13th west and went north past the church and then turned west into the subdivision. Then we went south out to 126th and then back up to 13th west to the Tithing Hill church. A few others came for the next part and we did the same route as we did for the warm up. I had to leave after this but I wasn't disappointed that I was missing the big hill on Lampton. | |
| | After work and a short nap I took Duke on a 1 mile run. The weather was perfect and Duke really loved it. After that I did my arm weight exercises. Tonight Kent and I are going to dinner at Joe Morley's with some friends. |
| | Leslie and I ran to Chrissy's this morning. The wind was blowing but it was at our back on the way to Christine's house. When we got there we decided we didn't want to run back with the wind in our face so we had Chrissy give us a ride back to Leslie's. | |
| | After work and a short nap I took Duke on a 1 mile run. I'm glad he is able to run a little bit now because he sure loves it. Then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 70 mens pushups. |
| | Met the group for the early miles at the West front parking lot. There were about 8 other people for the early miles. We headed south to 114th and then ran east over the railroad tracks and back. I started out early and turned when I saw the group coming back. When I got back to the parking lot they were just turning around. There were 5 others that came. We started south again and ran to 114th but this time we took the trail and headed south. It was very dark and I was glad I had my head light. Everyone was ahead of me so I was alone in the dark. I turned around after 16 minutes and headed back. I got a good workout. Then I cleaned up and went to work. Kelli was at the group and wasn't in too much pain. |
| | I didn't do any exercise yesterday because I was at the hospital with my husband who was having knee replacement surgery on his left knee and a meniscus repair on his right knee. The surgery went well and in a few weeks when the pain dies down he will feel a lot better. This morning I met the group for the early miles at the SJ soccer fields. I started out on the 5K course ahead of everyone and they caught up with me at Monte Vista. The weather was perfect, it was cool but not windy. I made it back in time to start the second 5K going the other direction. I went slow and steady and made it to the end and wasn't too dead. I was happy that I was able to go 6 miles instead of 5. I know how far this course is so I know how far I need to keep going and with the other courses I'm not sure how far 3 miles is. I even made it to work on time by 7am. | |
| | I took Duke on a 1 mile run this morning before work. He had a good time and so did I. |
| |
Met the group at the Riverton Park for the long run. They were doing the Riverton Half course, but since Leslie was gone to Idaho and I am so slow I lacked the motivation to go the whole way by myself. I started off early and the group caught up when we got to the right turn in the subdivision. Instead of turning I turned around and headed back on 13th west and told them I would see them at Tithing Hill. When I got to tithing hill they were coming up so I turned around and headed back to 13th west. When they caught up they said Eric and some others were a little way back so when I got to 13th west and went back towards tithing hill and then I saw the others coming. I turned around and ran with them down 13th west to the light. Then when they got to the turn at South County Pool I still continued straight on 13th. I ran to the stop sign on cemetery road and then turned around and headed back to the park. I ran for 1 hour which is probably 5 miles as slow as I go. Then I went home and took Duke on a 1 mile run. He loved it and I really enjoy having someone to run with. Somehow I lost my drivers license along the way, probably when I took out my phone to call my husband. I keep it in my fanny pack when I run because I don't want to bring my purse and leave it in the car.
| |
| | I ran a mile with Duke this morning. I started down our street heading to redwood road. When I got to redwood the street and sidewalk were icy and slippery so I turned around and ran back down my street to 13th west and then turned around and ran back to redwood and then turned around and ran home. I would go farther but I don't want to hurt Duke's leg. In another couple of weeks I will increase it to 2 miles. After I cleaned and help take care of Kent I did my arm weight exercises. | |
| | I met the group for the early miles at Bingham. Julie got out and started running around the parking lot so I did too. She wanted to get a little extra running in because she was leaving early to make her daughter a Birthday breakfast. We did the usual course around Temple view and Bonanza and then down to Bridal Oaks. I took a few shortcuts to stay up with the group. When they ran down Bridal Oaks then turned right so I went back out to 2200 and ran North thinking I would catch them on the next street. I ran north past one street that was a dead end and then turned west on the next street. I ran down that street for a while and didn't see the group so I ran back out to 2200 and headed back. When I got back the group was already back and starting to head out again. We did Temple view again and Bonanza and then went across the street to the other subdivision and did 800's around a neighborhood. After one 800 I headed back to Bingham so I could be to work by 7am. I was very tired. I haven't gotten as much sleep the past few days because my husband had a knee replacement and needs a lot of help during the night. He feels really bad that he keeps waking me up but I am glad to help him. |
| | I took Duke on a 1 mile run after work and a short nap. Then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises. Then I tried to do my pushups. I don't know what was wrong today but I could only do 25 mens pushups and then a short break and 25 more. Maybe it is lack of sleep. |
| | Met the group for the early miles at Riverton High School. I was a little early and Kris was running around the parking lot so I did too. Then we ran south to the next street and turned west until we got to the street that goes south to 126th. On 126th we went east to 2700 and then north to the school and then ran west through the subdivision and then back to the school. We met the others and did the same course around to 126th but instead of going in the subdivision across the street we went to the same street we started from and ran up and down and then the group was doing a 1 mile run and I had to leave to get to work. |
| | I went to my triathlon class today instead of running with the group. They were meeting at 6:15 at Bingham. When I woke up at 5am I looked outside and it was snowing and there was 5 inches on the ground I decided not to run. Leslie is sick so I would have been by myself in the snow the whole run. I haven't been to my Tri class for over 2 months. It was a very good workout. I'm counting the swim,. bike and run miles together because I don't know how to put them on separate. |
| | After work and a short nap I went to the Social Security Office to apply for a new card. I lost my license when I was running a couple of weeks ago and you need a birth certificate and a SS card. I got my birth certificate in the mail on Saturday so today I went to get my SS card. I didn't get the card but I applied for it and it will come in the mail. They said I could take m;y W2 along with my birth certificate to get my; license. I'll do that tomorrow. After dinner I used the elliptical for 15 minutes and the stationary bike for 15 minutes. | |
| |
Met the group at Centennial Park for the early miles. We did our usual route running down to 3600. I turned around at 3600 and the group turned and went south. I ran back past where we parked and down the road until I met up with the group again. For the regular miles we did the same route and I turned around again 3600. I my way back I met up with Eric who had come late. We met the group just past where we parked and I headed home to go to work. After work and a short nap I went and got my drivers license.
|
| | After work and a very short nap I took Duke on a 1 mile run. Then I did my arm weight exercises. |
| | Met the group at the trailhead on 98th. Since I didn't have to work this morning I didn't go for the early miles but I did go a little bit early and ran 1 mile before the regular miles. We ran north on the trail to start the regular miles and then we turned around and ran back to 98th. Then we started mile repeats running south on the trail from 98th to 106th and then back. We stopped at 106th because there was a foot of water on the trail under the road on 106th. When I got back to 98th I couldn't see the group so I just kept going and ran north to the end of the trail, then I turned around and headed back. When I was almost back the group came running heading north again so I turned around and headed north. When they turned around and headed south I turned around too. I made it 6 miles and was very tired. Dean brought donuts, chocolate milk, gator aid and strawberries. It was good. I took the day off from work because I am taking Kent to the doctor. His knees is improving but it is a long road to recovery. | |
| | This morning after I got back from the temple I took Duke on our usual run but I went just a little bit farther. I'm hoping that in about a month he will be able to go 3 miles. It was a good run. Then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 75 mens pushups. I did 50 pushup and then took a 30 second break and did 25 more. Hopefully next time I will be able to do all 75 without a break. |
| | I went to Leslie's to run this morning. We originally planned on doing 6 miles but since she was recovering from Bronchitis and I have a cold and also after killing ourselves last night helping one of my daughters move we decided to only go 3. It wasn't too cold but the strong wind made it very chilly and I was glad I had on long lycra. We ran north past the church south on 106th and then turned west and when we got to 1.5 miles we turned around and headed back. The wind blowing in our faces running south was very strong and it really made us glad we were only going 3 miles. After I got back home I took Duke on a 2 mile run and he sure loved it. I could probably count last nights help with the move as 6 miles because we had to park about a 1/2 a block away and when we got to the apartment we had to climb up a huge flight of stairs that was very steep. After about a hundred trips back and forth we were almost dead. We only had my two daughters and my son-in-law helping. We wouldn't have made it without my son-in-law. |
| | Yesterday my cold got the best of me and I had to lay down a lot. I didn't go to sacrament meeting and just went to teach my primary class. Today I feel a lot better. After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises. | |
| | I met the group at Bingham for the early miles. It was very snowy and the parking lot was like an ice skating rink. I walked very carefully through the parking lot to 2200. We started running north on 2200 and the road wasn't too bad. It was a little slushy in spots but not slippery. We jogged past 98th and kept going. The group almost made it to 90th and when I saw them turn around I did too. We jogged back to Bingham and I thought maybe the side walk would be less slippery. I was wrong I almost fell down several time and decided to just wait for the group to head back out to 2200. We ran north again on 2200 and we passed 98th and they kept going but I turned around about half way between 98th and 90th. On the way back the Bingham cross country team caught up with me but they turned in the back parking lot and I continued on to 106th and turned east and then got to the parking lot which was still slippery so I walked carefully to my car. It was a good run but I was even slower than usual because of the weather. |
| | After work and a short nap I took Duke on a 1 mile run. Then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises. Instead of my pushups I decided to do a plank. I lasted for 1 min 38 seconds.

| | Met the group for the early miles at the church on 102nd and 40th west. We started west and when we got to where the hill starts getting steep we turned north. The group passed me up, but I knew the trail. I continued on through the subdivision eventually ending up on 40th west. The group kept going east past 40th west but I turned south so that I would be back the same time. I wore long pants and T--shirt today because the wind was blowing. When I got to 40th west I was getting hot and thought about taking my warm stuff off, but running south the wind was blowing very hard in my face and it cooled me off. It also made it very hard to run. I made it back to the church the same time as every else. Then we regrouped and started north on 40th west to Sky Drive. I was behind everyone and then Debbie caught up and passed me. Just passed the church on Sky Drive we turned south and ran that way for a while. I was behind everyone and then I saw them coming back so I turned around and headed north. We continued on through the subdivision and then when they crossed 40th west going east and turned and headed south. I was getting very hot and tired so I was glad for the wind. I made it back to the car and headed home to get ready for work. | |
| | After work and a short nap I took Duke on a 1 mile run. Then I had a bath. Now I'm am going to Toole to pick up 6 of my grandchildren to stay for the weekend. |
| | Leslie and I went to Riverton Park to meet the group. We left about 30 minutes before the others. We thought the group would catch us before the hill on the trail but they didn't. When we got to the trailhead on 144th we didn't see the donuts so we sat down and ate my shot bloks and drank water. A minute later we saw the rest of the group run up the trail and Dean got the snacks out of the weeds. We at a half a donut and some gator aid and then started on. The rest of the people caught us before the S curve. Leslie was feeling very tired because she has had bronchitis. When we got to the S curve we walked up. Then we ran for a while and then walked again. We decided to just go straight down 13th back to the park. We made it back and the rest of the group was still there. I was glad Leslie ran with me. We were both tired at the end but not dead. | |
| | After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises. Then I had to spend a couple of hours cleaning because I had 6 of my grandkids stay with me over the weekend so I didn't get any cleaning done.. If I had done some cleaning you wouldn't know it because they mess things up faster than you can clean. It was worth it to have them here. We had a good time. | |
| | Met the group at the park at the bottom of Tithing Hill for the early miles. We ran down the trail and then up into the subdivision and then up and down hills until we got back to the park. Running up the hills sure got me tired. Then we did a 15 minute warmup run along the trail. Then we did a tempo run back and forth along the trail. I had to leave after 40 minutes of the regular miles but I sure was tired. | |
| | After work and a short nap I took Duke on a 1 mile run. Then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 75 mens pushups. I did 50 and then took a 15 second break and did 25 more. |
| | I met the group for the early miles at the park next to Lifetime fitness. There were only 5 of us for the early miles. We ran past 114th to the last street and then up to Lampton. I ran south on Lampton until I saw the others coming back and then I turned around. Only one other person came for the next part. I was feeling very tired because I got woken up too many times in the night. My husband has a hard time sleeping because he has to do so much physical therapy on his knee that by nighttime it hurts too much to sleep. For the second part I just turned around at 114th and the rest of the group ran on the parkway trail. | |
| | I ran 1 mile with Duke after work and a short nap. |
| | I went to Leslie's this morning to pick up our Bountiful basket and then we ran our daybreak 6 mile course. The wind was blowing and it was a little bit cool but I was still glad that I wore a tank top and shorts. We saw Peggy and Mike running south on 40th west as we ran north. It was a nice run I neither of us was too tired at the end. I hope we are ready for the Riverton 1/2 next Saturday. | |
| | After work and a short nap I took Duke on a 1 mile run. He loved it. It was 45 degrees, but on the way back it was very chilly because the wind was blowing hard. Then I did my arm weight exercises. | |
| | I met the group at the church on Sky Drive for the early miles. There were 4 other people besides me. We ran down Yorkshire Drive to 106th, then the group turned west and I turned around and ran back down Yorkshire and then up Sky Drive and then back south on Yorkshire until I saw the group coming and then I turned around. For the second part there were 5 others that came and we ran all the way up Sky Drive to the Park and then they were doing a tempo run back and forth and I had to be to work so I headed back down Sky Drive to the church. I was a good run and I didn't even feel too tired going up the big hill. |
| | I didn't do any exercise at all. After work and a very short nap my daughter Jenny and her 6 kids came to visit. This was the first time to see my new grandson. He was born Feb. 19th but I couldn't go to Idaho to see him or help Jenny because Kent had just had his Knee replacement surgery. We had a very nice visit and then she and her kids went to sleep at Leslie's house. We will be seeing a lot of them the next few days. |
| | I met the group at the park by Lifetime fitness, but I didn't go to the early miles because I am taking the day off work to spend time with Jenny and her family. We ran south to 114th and went on the parkway trail to 126th. When I was almost to 126th I saw the group coming back so I turned around. They said it was too muddy to cross over 126th. We ran south on the trail to almost 106th and then turned around and headed back to the cars. It was a good run and I was glad I wore shorts and a tank top because I got pretty hot towards the end of the run. |
| | I did my leg weight/stomach exercises and then did my pushups. I could only do 50 mens pushups and then I took a 20 break and did 25 more. I can't believe my arms are getting so whimpy. I need to do pushups more than once a week. |
| Race: |
Riverton 1/2 Marathon (13.1 Miles) 02:25:00, Place overall: 136, Place in age division: 1 | | Today I ran the Riverton 1/2 Marathon. It was chilly when I started out but I was still glad I wore a tank top and shorts. Leslie and I started out slow and steady. Actually we started out faster than last year. Our first 4 miles were 10 minute miles and then we started to slow down. I didn't feel as tired as I usually do running. We got to the trail head on 144th in an hour and 28 minutes. Then I started to get tired. By the time we got to the S curve I was so tired I had to walk up it. That was the only place in the race that I walked. I kept telling Leslie to run ahead, but she wouldn't. When we got to Redwood road I caught up to a guy that comes to our Tri class. He said that I had beaten him last year and he didn't want we to beat him this year. We stayed with him for about 1/2 mile and then I got tired and slowed down. I told Leslie to go ahead and beat him and finally she did. I wasn't as dead at the end of the race as I was last year and I got 1st place in my age group. The trophy's are really cool. They were hand made by an artist in Riverton. They are wagon wheels mounted on a base. I really think they are neat. |
| | After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises. |
| | Met the group at the trailhead on 98th for the early miles. Cheris said in the email that we would run on the trail to 106th so I started out early. It was dark and cold so I was glad I wore my long pants and had my; headlight. I tried to go fast so the others wouldn't pass me too early. I got to 106th and headed up the hill and still hadn't seen the others. I got to 10th west and headed back to 98th. When I got back to the parking lot and no one had passed me I thought maybe they had just stayed on the trail so I went down the trail a little ways and then turned around and saw them coming through the parking lot. We ran north on the trail and then turned around and picked up the other runners. We ran north again to the end to the trail and turned around and came back to the parking lot. Then we regrouped and headed south doing 2 minutes on and 2 off. When we got almost to 106th I turned around and headed back to the car so I could get to work. I was glad I was able to make it 6 miles. After running the Riverton 1/2 and finishing 1st in my age group I didn't feel to bad about being slow. There were 6 people in my age group and the 2nd place person was 7 minutes behind me. |
| | I took Duke on a 1 mile run and then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups. I could only do 60 mens pushups, but I took a 30 second break and then did 20 more. |
| | I met the group at the SJ soccer fields for the early miles. I started off early and made it to the end before anyone caught up with me. When they were getting back I started the other direction. This time they caught me at 2700. I kept going and another runner caught up with me and passed me. He went straight and I turned. A few minutes later he passed me again. I said "Wow you are fast," and he said, " I hope I am still running when I get your age. I told me he had talked to me before so he knew I was 20 years younger than he was. I made it to the end just as the others were starting out again. As I walked to my car I saw Kris and Debbie coming so I said Hi to them and then left. |
| | After work and a short nap I took Duke on a 1 mile run. Duke loved it. It was hot. |
| | I didn't do any exercise at all today. I went to a research study from 7am until 4pm. It was very interesting and we got breakfast, lunch and $200. |
| | After work and a short nap I took Duke on a 1 mile run. Then I did my arm weight exercises. |
| | Met the group for the early miles at the South County Pool. We ran from there past the park and out to redwood. I turned around before redwood and headed back past the park and out to 126th. Then I turned around and ran back to the park and then out to 126th and back again. Then when the group came we ran south past the Pool road and then turned around and went back to the pool. When the rest of the group came we ran past the park again and then around it and back to the pool. Then we did runs from the pool to 13th west and back. It was a quarter of a mile from the pool to 13th west and I ran back and forth 5 times and then I had to leave to go to work. I was quite tired but not dead. |
| | I took Duke for a 1 mile run. We both enjoyed it. |
| | Met the group at the church on 102nd and 40th west. There were only 4 of us there for the first part. We ran west to Yorkshire Dr. and ran north on Yorkshire to 98th. The others were ahead of me and continued across 40th west but I turned south on 40th and headed back to the church. When I got to the church I turned east and ran until I saw the others coming. We then ran south past the church and ran through the back parking lot and back to meet the group. We started out on a 15 minute warm up going west again to Yorkshire and then we turned around and went south back to the street that turns onto Yorkshire. Then we did a 2 mile tempo run. I started ahead of everyone up the hill. At the top of the hill we turned north and followed the road back to Yorkshire. The group then went north on Yorkshire, but I turned south and headed back to the car so I could get to work. After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 75 mens pushups. I could only do 50 pushups and then had to take a 30 second break and then do 25 more. I don't know why my; arms are getting too weak to do 75 at once. Maybe I need to do them more often.
|
| | I went to my triathlon class because I didn't feel like running in the snow. I got a good workout. |
| | We went to my daughter Jenny's house in Idaho for a baby blessing and baptism. Their church didn't start until 2:45 so Ben, Spencer and I went on a 2 mile walk around the farm. We didn't walk around the whole farm because they have 3000 acres, but we got a good walk in. | |
| | After work and a short nap I did my arm weights. |
| | I met the group at the church on 114th and 3300 west. We ran all around the subdivision and then came back for the others. Then we did some 400's and 800's and then I had to leave to go to work. Rachel was there and it was good to see her. I got a good workout. | |
| | After work and a short nap I ran 1 mile with Duke and then I did my leg weight/ stomach exercises along with 80 mens pushups. I did 60 pushups and then took a 30 second break and did 20 more. | |
| | Met the BBK's at the church off 124th and 13th west. We did our warmup going north on 13th west past the church and then west through the subdivision and then south out to 126th and then back to where we parked. I was a little bit behind the others and they ran 1 street past the turn off but I just turned and headed for the church where I met Michelle M coming out to 13th so she turned around and we ran past the church and around the parking lot and back and then out where we met the others. For our second part we ran down tithing hill to the parkway trail and ran south for 2 miles and then turned around and headed back. The others went north again but I had to get to work so I jogged back up Tithing Hill and came home. I was tired, but I made it all the way up the hill without stopping. |
| |
After work and a short nap I weeded for an hour and then took Duke on a 2 mile brisk walk. Duke doesn't walk slow but he did stop a few times to sniff weeds and mark his territory. We walked from my house to the canal road and then down the canal road for a mile and then back. It was very beautiful weather and we saw a lot of Ducks.
|
| | Leslie and I met the group at Julie's house for the second part of the run. Most of them had already run 10 miles. We headed out through the subdivision and out to 118th. The group continued on down to 2200 and north, but we decided to go west up 118th. We continued west for 3 miles and then my son called to tell me about a storage auction that we wanted to go to so We turned around and headed back to Julie's house. I ran a lot faster on the way back than on the way up because it was downhill. It was a good run. |
| | I met the group at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple parking lot for the early miles. There were 4 of us for the early miles. We jogged past the temple heading north to 106th and then I was so far behind I didn't know where they went so I turned around and headed back. I jogged past the temple and then up the next street and then back past the temple going north again and then turned around and went back south past the temple and up the street and then when I got back to the temple the others were there. We started off again the same direction going north but turned west and then south and then west again and ended up at Daybreak lake. They started around the lake but I had to get back to go to work. I didn't have my watch with me so I wasn't sure of the time so I got back a little early and only made it 4.5 miles. I don't have to work Thursday so I will be able to go at least 6 then. | |
| | I met the group at Bingham but I didn't go to the early miles because I don't have to work for a few days. We did our usual loop starting at the back parking lot and then around temple view, Bonanza and then the subdivision across the street and then we did the same loop backwards. Then for our cool down we ran north on 2200 and then around the subdivision again and back to Bingham. It was a good run and I was tired after. I hope the weather will be nice for a few days so I can do some yard work. | |
| | I went to Leslie's to run this morning. She had to be to a motorcycle safety class at 8 a.m. so I went over at 6:15 and we ran 4 miles. She marked out a new route that went from her house north on 40th west to the church on 102nd and then west all the way up the big hill to the end and then south through daybreak and then back out to 106th and back down to Leslie's. It was a nice little run and the weather was just perfect. When I got home I wanted to run more so I took Duke on a 2.5 miles run from my house down redwood to Walgreens and back. He enjoyed it and so did I.

| |
This morning since I didn't have to work I took Duke on the 3 mile run and then did my leg weight/stomach exercises. I also did 50 mens pushups, took a 30 second break and did 25 more. I don't know why I can't do 75 straight anymore. The run with Duke was nice and cool with a slight rainy drizzle. We both had a good time. Then I did a lot of cleaning, had lunch and took a nap. Then my daughter Rebecca came over and wanted me to run with her so I ran 1.5 miles with her on the parkway. Then I went visiting teaching. Tonight for family night we are going to see the movie "Soul Surfer." One of my daughters and her family saw it last week and thought it was very good.
|
| | I met the group at the SJ soccer fields for the early miles. I started off early and went to the left on our usual 5K course. I made it to the end before anyone caught up to me. For the next part we did a 2 mile course through canterwood and then up to 2700 and down Rustic Road. Then I had to leave so I could get home in time to make breakfast for my husband for his birthday. After dinner tonight we had a sod laying party for my husbands birthday. Then we had strawberry cream cheese pie for dessert. It was good.
| |
| | I ran my usual 3 mile course with Duke early this morning before work. Then after work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises. |
| | Met the group for the early miles at Riverton High School. We ran north on 2700 down to 118th and then up to 3200 west and over and back. Eric went slow with me and I had a nice visit. Then we met the others and ran another short course through the subdivision and then out to 126th and back to Riverton. Then we did a 1 mile out and back course and then another 1/2 mile cool down and then another 1 mile out and back course. It was a good run. | |

After that I came home and they all did the 2 mile run backwards. After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups. I did 50 mens pushups, took a 30second break and then did 25 more.
| |
| | After work I ran 2 miles with Duke and then I took a nap. |
| | I met the group at the park across from Lifetime Fitness for the early miles. I had to be to work at 6am so I got there early and ran a mile and a half before the others got there then I ran 2 miles with them and left to go home. | |
| | I met Leslie this morning at 6:30 to run our 6 mile Daybreak course. It was beautiful running weather and I enjoyed the run. I would like to have gone farther, but I was having a garage sale at 8:30 and had to get home to set things up. | |
| | I took Duke on a mile walk and then later on I used the elliptical for 40 minutes. | |
| | Met the BBK's at Centennial Park for the early miles. We did our usual route through the subdivision and then turn west on the street before 126th and then out to 3600 West. The group turns south and I turn around and head back. When I get back to the parking lot I keep going south until I see the group coming and then I turn around, that way they don't have to wait for me for the next part. I did the same thing for the other part only instead when I got to the parking lot I headed home to get ready for work. After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with mens pushups. I did 50 and took a 30 second break and did 30 more. |
| | After work and a short nap I took Duke on a 3 mile run. We both enjoyed. Then I planted the flowers I got for Mother's Day. | |
| | Met the group at the church on Tithing Hill. We did our usual warmup and I started out early. The group caught me fast, but Greg started later and when he caught up with me we slowed down and talked to me. It was nice to have someone to talk to. For the second part we ran down tithing hill to the parkway. We then ran south to 126th and turned around because there was water over the trail and then we went north to 114th. I turned around when I had run 20 minutes of the second part so I could run back to my car and get ready for work. | |
| | We went to visit my daughter Jenny Friday after work because my husband sold his extra scissor lift to her Father-in-law and we delivered it so we could visit with Jenny and her family. We had a very nice visit with her, our son-in-law and the 6 grandkids so it was worth the drive. We got up this morning had breakfast and visited for an hour and then headed home. When we got home, we ate lunch and then Ben, Duke and I went on a 2 mile walk. My son is really out of shape and is going to start walking to get into shape. We had a nice walk.
| |
| | I had to be to work at 6am so before work I got up and ran 3 miles with Duke. It was nice and cool and felt good. After work and a short nap I spent a couple of hours weeding my flower beds while the weather was still nice. |
| | I had to be to work at 6am so I went to Bingham about 15 minutes early and ran a mile before the others got there. When they got there we ran temple view, bonanza and Bridal Oaks. I turned around part way down Bridal Oaks and headed back. After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises. |
| | I didn't have to work today because I took the day off for my grandson's Birthday. I woke up early so I ran about 5 am with Duke. It was a nice cool run. I'm glad I ran early because it was only a drizzle and later it was raining hard. I did a lot of cleaning and then went to the Living Planet Aquarium with my daughter and her family. Then we all came back here for cake. | |
| |
I met the group at the church on Sky Drive for the early miles. It was raining when I drove there and I wasn't sure anyone would show up. There were 5 other crazy people that showed up for the early miles and two more for the later miles. I was pretty soaked, but I wasn't hot like sometimes. It was a good run. After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with my pushups. For some reason I can only do 50 mens pushups, take a 30 second break and do 25 more. I used to be able to do 75 straight so I must be getting weak.

| Race: |
Linda Buttars Memorial (6.2 Miles) 00:01:05, Place in age division: 1
Leslie and I along with my son-in-law and granddaughter ran the Linda Buttars Memorial at Jordan Landing. There were several hundred people and it was timed with a chip. I started off slow and easy and Leslie darted ahead. I kept up with my son-in-law and granddaughter until about 3/4ths the way through the 5K and then I went ahead. My granddaughter is only 11 years old so she did the 5K. For the 10K you just do the course twice. The second time around I was getting a little bit hot and tired but not too bad. I won first in my age. When Leslie got to the end she ran the 1 my race with my other granddaughter who is 5 years old. Leslie was tired and hot by then and needed some water. Anna ran almost the whole way. It was a good race and I enjoyed it. I was very proud of both my granddaughters.
| |
| | This morning before work I ran 3 miles with Duke. It was a nice cool run and we both enjoyed it. | |
| | Met the group at the SJ soccer fields for the early miles. I knew the course so I started off early so I could get back the same time as the others. The second time around I started early also because I wanted to get in 6 miles before I had to go home and get ready for work. After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises. Only 6 days left of school/work and I'm very excited to be off for the summer. | |
| |
I thought the group was meeting at the Riverfront Park so when I got there a little Early I jogged around the park for a mile. When no on came I drove to the other park. And then I ran and ran. And I ran some more. And then....I ran some more. Thus the 6 miles.
Did I mention, I love my daughter Leslie? She is super cool even if she sleeps in most of the time instead of coming to running group. She does run, but getting her out of bed is like waking up a zombie. Perhaps Leslie really is a zombie. In that case, it's no wonder she hasn't found a husband, she'd probably eat him for breakfast. Then she would give real meaning to breakfast in bed.
And I am so glad school is almost out. I plan to run, and bike, and swim. But no, I'm sure you're all wondering, I do not go skinny dipping. I prefer to swim in bathing suits.I also prefer to run in clothing. I don't usually run naked.
Someday when you are all old like me, if you keep running, you will get grandma buns of steel. All the old granpas in the world probably check me out and think, "what a hot young thing". And the ones who never ran who think that, are probably 10 years younger, but they look like they're 80. Thank goodness for running. It keeps me young and healthy. It appears that my daughter Leslie finished this while I was visiting with the home teachers. Actually what happened is I read the email wrong and went to the wrong place. I ran 3 miles at the Riverfront park and then came home and ran 3 miles with Duke. After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups. I did 60 mens pushups, took a 30 second break and did 25 more.
| |
| | This morning before work I ran 3 miles with Duke. It is so much easier to run in the mornings since I always wake up early and by the time work is over I'm too tired and lazy to run. |
| | Leslie didn't want to run early and we both had things to do so we did our 6 mile daybreak course. It was perfect running weather. There were lots of people running, walking and biking. About 5 miles in as we were coming down 106th I got a sharp pain in my foot and had to walk for about 3 minutes before it went away. I think is was just a pinched nerve. It was a nice run. |
| | This morning after I went to the store and bought the ingredients for baked beans and got it into the crock pot I ran 3 miles with Duke. It was a nice run and It was between rain storms. We had most of our family over for an indoor barbeque this afternoon. It was fun. |
| | I met the group for the early miles. I started off 5 minutes early while I waited for the others because I wanted to get 3 miles in before I had to be to work at 6am. There were only 4 others there for the early miles. I'm excited to be finished with work for the summer so I can stay the whole time. It was a good run. |
| | I ran 3 miles with Duke before work. It was a good run. |
| | I met the group at the park at the bottom of tithing hill for the early miles. I got there early and started running and met up with Julie who also came early. We ran for about 8 minutes and then met the rest of the group. We ran north on the trail and then up through the subdivision and up and down several large hills. Carissa was going slower than usual so I was able to visit with her along the way. I had a nice visit and a good run and then I had to leave so I could be to work by 6 am. |
| | I woke up at 3:50 and laid there until 4:45 and then I got up and ran 3 miles with Duke. Then I went to the temple. After lunch and a short nap I planted flowers. I'm sure glad it is finally nice weather. I'm excited to be off work for the summer. | |
| | Leslie didn't want to get up early to run and I had to be to the church at 8 to help clean so I met the group at Julie's house at 5:30. I started off right away because I knew they would catch me in no time. I kept running out to 118th and south until 3600 west and they still didn't catch me. Finally after I crossed 3600 they caught up with me. They said they ended up waiting for Cheris. When I got to 40th west I turned north and they kept going west. I ran north on 40th up past the temple and down to Leslie's house. I woke her up and waited while she got ready and then we ran back. On the way back the group caught up with us just after 3600 west. When we got back I had Minon's sister whose name just left my mind follow me home so I could give her my water bottle pack that I don't use. It was a good run and the weather was perfect. |
| |
This morning Duke and I went to Leslie's to run. We ran north on 40th west and then turned west into the subdivision across from the church. We ran west for a while and then turned south until we came to 106th and then we went east to 40th west and back to Leslie's. Duke was so excited I could hardly hold him back at first. Leslie was surprised how fast we went with Duke pulling me.
This afternoon I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with mens pushups. I did 60 then took a 30 second break and did 25 more.

I was going to sleep in this morning and then just go to running group at 5:45, but I woke up at 4:30 and couldn't get back to sleep. There were 5 of us at Peggy's for the early miles. Lisa Dudley was there today and it was great to see her. We did a loop through the subdivision and out to 13th west and then back through the subdivision and eventually back to Peggy's to meet the others. About 8 others came for the regular workout. We did a partial loop through the subdivision and then met back at Peggy's where we did laps around her block for the rest of the time. My goal was to just keep running until the end. I had to walk for a few minutes before my last 3 laps because I got a pain in my foot like I have been getting lately. After I walked the pain went away and I did my last 3 laps visiting with Debbie because the rest of the group went to do hills. It was a good workout and I was very tired at the end.
After Leslie got off work she and I went on our first bike ride. We rode from her house up around daybreak and back. The weather was perfect and it was a nice ride. We went 8 miles. Next time we'll go farther.
| |
| | This morning I ran 3 miles with Duke. Then I got cleaned up and picked up Leslie and went to her temple since mine is closed. | |
| | This morning before I ran with Leslie I was thinking of going to running group but since Leslie and I were running 6 I changed my mind. It is a good thing I didn't run with the group first because felt very tired running 6 with Leslie. We did our 6 mile daybreak course. Maybe it was because we didn't run until 7 so it was a little warmer, any way I felt very tired running and was glad we were only going 6. I came home and did some cleaning and then helped clean the kitchen at the church, then I did indexing had lunch and a nap. Then I got out my cushions for our patio furniture. Now I am going to do my arm weight exercises and then make dinner.
| |
| | I ran 3 miles with Duke at 5am this morning. Then I ate breakfast and did some cleaning before I went to Leslie's ride bikes. We did our same 8 miles course as last time. It was pretty chilly this morning biking. |
| | This morning I went to Leslie's and we did our 6 mile daybreak course. I was just as tired as I was the last time we did it. We saw them setting up for the Daybreak Triathlon and we weren't even sad that we were not doing it. It was a good run and we both had things to do today so we didn't have time to do a longer run. |
| | This morning Duke and I did our usual Monday morning run with Leslie. We enjoyed the run and Duke especially; liked running in the neighbors sprinklers when we got back to Leslie's. |
| | I met the group at Riverton High for at the early miles. We ran north and then down a street and then back past the seminary to the parking lot to pick up the stragglers. Then we ran out to 2700 and then south to 126th and then west. The group was ahead of me and so I didn't see exactly which street they turned on so I turned north and then a few street to the north I turned east. I ran to the end of the street and was hoping it led to 2700 but it ended up being a circle and it circled around back to where I turned in so I ran back out to 126th and headed east until I got back to the School. When the rest of the group got there we did a 1 mile warm up run and then did speed work on the track. My goal was to keeping going the whole time. I couldn't run very fast but I did keep running. After I ran a couple of mile I walked one lap and then ran a couple more miles. It was a good run and I was very tired at the end. | |
| | Yesterday afternoon I did my leg weight/stomach exercises. Along with 60 mens pushups, a 30 second break and then 30 more. This morning I ran 3 miles with Duke. I enjoyed the run and Duke loved it. Then I went to a storage auction and then to the splash park with two of my daughters and their kids. It was fun.
| |
| | Leslie has a sinus infection so I ran with the group. We met at Centennial Park in Riverton but I was a couple minutes late for the early miles and they had already left. Luckily Michelle Margetts was late too so we both went the other direction to catch them. We ran out to 134th and then west towards 3600 west. We ran and visited for about 15 minutes and didn't run into the rest of the group so we decided to turn around and head back. When we got back Dean was there but the others weren't so we turned around and saw them coming. We did the same loop two more times but I turned around at 3600 and headed back and got back at the same time as the group both times. It was a good run and I was very tired at the end. | |
| | I ran with Duke this morning. We did our usual 3 mile route. |
| | This morning I ran 3 miles with Duke. It was was a good run. |
| | I met the group at Riverton High for the early miles. We did our usual 3 mile route. After the others got there we did a 1 mile warmup and then ran around the track. After running a few miles around the track we did another mile run outside the track and then we came back and did another couple laps around the track. It was a good run and I was very tired. It really amazes that I can run slow and still feel so tired. | |
| | This morning I ran my usual 3 miles with Duke. We passed the same man that I talked to on Monday while I was running with Duke. We also passed him when we turned around and headed back because he was coming back the other direction. |
| |
This morning at 5 am I walked a mile with my son and Duke. Then I made breakfast, cleaned and did indexing before I called and woke Leslie up. Then Leslie and I did our usual 6 mile daybreak course. I felt more tired today, probably because it was a lot warmer today.
After I got home I did a lot of cleaning and then took a nap. After my nap my husband and I went to the temple. When I got back from the temple I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with mens pushups. I did 50 then took a short break and did 50 more. I really got a good workout today and was very tired by bedtime.
| |
| | I ran 2 miles with Duke this morning while my son walked. Then I went to Leslie's and we did an 8 mile bike ride. Since I don't know how to separate bike miles from running miles I just put them together. It was a nice run and bike and I enjoyed them both. | |
| | This morning I walked a mile with my son and since we were having a garage sale today we put up signs. Then at 6:30 I called Leslie and woke her up and we ran only ran 4 miles because we were going to Okubos Greenhouse for their 50% off sale. Then I had to hurry home for my garage sale. After the garage sale I walked another mile to take down the signs.
| |
| | This morning at 5am I went on a 1 mile walk with my son. Then I came home ate breakfast and did some cleaning before I called Leslie to wake her up. Then Duke, Leslie and I did a 3.5 mile run. This time we just went straight north on 40th west instead of running up the hill. Duke was very excited when we started out and went very fast, but he got hot on the way back and slowed down. It was a good workout. | |
| | This morning at 4:45 I walked a mile with Ben and Duke and then I met the group at Riverton for the early Miles. We did our usual course and then met the others for a mile warmup and then did speed work. When we do speed work I don't run too fast but I try to do a mile under 11 minutes. I did each mile in 10:39 and then did 1 lap walking. With the walking I did 3 and a half miles on the track. Then we ran out to the road to do a mile warm down. It was nice to see Rachel and Michelle N at the group today. |
| | Ben, Duke and I walked a mile and then I went to the temple. After I got back I did indexing and then cleaning. After lunch and a nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 50 pushups. | |
| | I walked a mile with Duke and Ben and 5am this morning. Then I had breakfast, cleaned the kitchen and called and woke Leslie up. We were going to run our usual Day break 6 mile course but Leslie was on call for work and after we ran up 106th and got to Daybreak she got a call and had to go into work, so we turned around and headed back. We ended up going 3.5 miles but I didn't mind cutting the run short because I didn't sleep well last night. Glen, Bridget and her kids are coming to visit this afternoon and I am excited to see them. |
| | At 5am I walked a mile with Duke and my son and then I came home and ate breakfast, did my indexing and did some cleaning. Then I called and woke Leslie up and we rode our bikes on our short 8 mile course. I would like to ride farther sometime but Leslie doesn't get up early enough. It was a nice ride up through daybreak. I count my walking and biking miles together since I don't know how to separate them. | |
| Race: |
Riverton 10K (6.2 Miles) 01:04:00, Place in age division: 1
This morning at 5am I walked a mile with my son and Duke. Then I came home, ate breakfast and left to go help with the registration for the Riverton 10K. There were a lot of people from our running group helping. It was slow until 6:30 and then everyone started to come. At five minutes to 7 I ran and took a bathroom break and got back in time for the start of the race. I went slow and steady and felt pretty good. I visited with a lot of people along the way. About half way through I started feeling very hot. At the water stop I dumped water over my head. I kept going slow and steady and if someone tried to pass me I would make sure they weren't older than me. I made it to the end 1 minute faster than last year and I wasn't quite as dead either. I hurried and ate a bagel and then hurried home so Ben and I could go to our storage auction and then to Leslie's piano recital.
| |
| | This morning at 5am I went on a 1 mile walk with my son. Then I came home, ate breakfast, and cleaned the house before I called and woke Leslie up. Today we tried a new 3 mile course. We ran from Leslie's house to the canal and followed the canal south to 114th and then ran up towards daybreak and then turned around at the 1.5 mile mark. On the way back we saw Michelle, Cheris and Julie coming the other direction. It was a good run, but it was already getting hot. After our run I helped Leslie put together the sishkabobs for our BBQ. |
| |
I met the group at Riverton High for the early miles. We did our usual course and I started out early so I almost made it to the end before they caught me. Then we did a mile warm up when the others got there and then ran on the track. I was very tired at the end. It was good to see Rachel there again.
After I got home I ate breakfast, changed and weeded for and hour. Then I cleaned the kitchen and did a good clean on my laundry room and cupboards. Then I ate lunch, took a nap and made a run to DI. Then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises and 50 pushups, 30 second break and 25 more.
| |
| | This morning I walked 1 mile with Ben and then I went to the temple with Leslie. Then I came home and did some cleaning and went to help Christine. She is 7 months pregnant and already getting labor pains. I helped clean her house and watch the kids. Then I came home and took a nap and did my indexing. After dinner I rode bikes with Leslie. We did our usual daybreak 8 mile course. |
| | This morning at 5am I walked a mile with Duke and Ben and then I came home and made breakfast and did some cleaning. Then I called Leslie and woke her up so we could run. We did our usual 6 mile daybreak course. It felt very hot. |
| | This morning I slept in clear until 5am, then Ben, Duke and I walked a mile. After our walk I made breakfast and did some cleaning. At 6:45 I called and woke up Leslie, but she wanted to sleep a little longer so I called back at 7am and then went over to bike with her. We did our usual 8 mile daybreak course. Leslie doesn't love biking like I do. She thinks it is harder than running. I think it is way easier and I could go a lot farther and faster but I am glad she will ride with me. Now I need to get packed up to go to our family outing. We our going to Crystal Hot Springs and all of our kids and grandkids will be there except my oldest. We will miss them but I"m sure we will have a nice time. | |
| | At 4:30 I walked with Duke and Ben. At 7:45 I went to the IMC for short stay surgery on my trigger finger. |
| | Ben, Duke and I took our walk at about 4:45. We have been going just a little farther each day so I think today we went 1.5 miles. Then I came home, ate breakfast, did my indexing and cleaned the kitchen. Then I called and woke Leslie up and we did our 3 mile run. We ran north on 40th west to the church on 102 and then west up the hill and then south to 106th and back to 40th west and to Leslie's. I was able to go faster today even without Duke pulling me. Maybe it was because I ate so many goodies over the weekend. It was a good run. |
| | Ben, Duke and I went on our walk at 4:30 am this morning. We are walking from my house down 114th almost to the light at the bottom of the hill. When I got back it was 5:05 so I got my running stuff ready and headed out the door. The group was meeting at the church on 102nd and 40th west. I got there a few minutes late and so did Michelle M so we did our own 2 mile run and then met the group back at the church. We did a warm up and then a 4 mile tempo run. We had a big group this morning. I was very tired but plugged along. Kris Bullock kept getting cramps and had to walk a couple of times so I almost caught up with her and Debbie. After the 4 mile tempo run we were doing hill repeats. Cheryl, Peggy, Kelli and I decided to take off our shoes and run up the grass hill. It was very steep and close to the top I had to walk. We did the hill 3 times and then ran back to the cars. It was a good run and I was very tired. After I got home I ate breakfast, cleaned up and then went to tend Christine's kids while she took her oldest daughter Rachel to get her tonsils out. When I got home from babysitting, I had a nap, did some cleaning and indexing and then did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with mens pushups. I did 50 pushups, took a 30 second break and did 25 more. It was good to see Kelli and Rachel back at running group.

Tuesday night Leslie and I rode our bikes. We did our usual daybreak course.
I walked with Ben at 4:30 am and then I ate breakfast, cleaned the kitchen and then called and woke Leslie up so we could go to the temple. After I got back I changed and then Ben and I went to a Storage Auction. We got one of the units so we spent the next 3 hours cleaning it out and hauling all the stuff home. We were both tired and after lunch took a nap.
|
| | At 4:30am I walked 1.5 miles with Duke and Ben. At 7:20 I ran 6 with Leslie.
|
| | This morning at 4:30 Ben Duke and I did our 1.5 mile walk. At 7:45 I went to IMC short stay surgery to get my trigger finger fixed. | |
| | This morning at 5:30 am I walked with Ben and Duke. Then I ate breakfast and did some cleaning. Then I called Leslie and woke her up. We were going to go 10 miles but because Leslie has had a sinus infection we decided to go 8. We ran down 40th west to Sky Drive and then ran up past the Golf Course and past the park and north on 48th west until we hit 4 miles and then we turned around and headed back. I'm glad Leslie has a GPS watch so we can know how far we go. On the way back we walked a couple of times because Leslie was very tired. It is a good thing we only went 8 miles. I'm glad my hand is feeling good enough today to type. It is very swollen but it doesn't hurt very much. | |
| | At 4:30 am I walked 1.5 miles with Duke and Ben. Then I came home, ate breakfast and did some cleaning before I called and woke Leslie up. We ran our 3 mile course along the canal by her house. I won't be able to do my arm and leg weight exercises or bike until I get my stitches out next week. |
| | This morning at 4:30 I walked with Ben and Duke. We walked all the way down to the light at the River bottoms and back. It was a good walk. Then I left to go to the early miles with the BBK's. They were already gone when I got there so I went the opposite direction and met them coming the other way on 126th. Then I turned around and we headed towards Riverton High and ran through the subdivision across from it and then back to meet the others for the regular miles. We started off on the track with a mile warm up. Then while they did 400 sprints I just ran a mile as fast as I could(it was very slow but I try to stay under 11 minutes) then I walk a lap and then run another mile. After we did 4-5 miles on the track we ran out to 2700 and did another mile run through the next neighborhood. I was very tired when I got home. | |
| |
Duke, Ben and I did our usual morning walk. It was a little bit cooler this morning and it felt good. Ben and I got some of our stuff from our storage auction listed on Ebay and then I helped Kent harvest the honey. After he takes the boxes off the hives he takes each frame and cuts off the wax with a hot knife and then puts 4 frames at a time in the spinner. After the honey spins off the frames it drains into buckets. Then we warm it up and put it though a filter and then into bottles. It was a lot of work but we got 90 lbs. of honey.
| |
| | Ben, Duke and I did our usual early morning walk. Then I ate breakfast, did some cleaning and then called and woke Leslie up. We did our usual 6 mile daybreak run. For some reason this run has been very hard the last two times. I don't know if it is the heat or what, but both times this run was harder than our longer Saturday runs. | |
| | This morning Ben, Duke and I walked but we didn't go as far because Ben didn't feel too good. | |
| | This morning at 5 am Ben, Duke and I did our usual 1.5 mile walk from our house down to the light at the river bottoms. Then I got all of my stuff ready for our breakfast that we were eating on the other side of Butterfield Canyon. Our family on this side of the Mountain (Chrissy, Ralphy and families and Ben, Leslie, Kent and I) were meeting my daughter Carrie and her husband and kids on the Tooele side of the mountain( where they live) to cook breakfast and visit. After I got everything ready I called and woke up Leslie and then went to her house. We ran from her house to Chrisy's house and then after a bathroom break and refill of my ice water we ran back. It was a good run. Leslie started to get very tired at the end and we walked when we got to her street. We had a fun time in the canyon with our family. | |
| | I was very tired this morning. I had grandkids over for the weekend and we didn't get to bed until 11:45 last night. Ben and I woke up a couple minutes late (4:35 instead of 4:30) so we didn't have time to walk as far. Then I came home and cleaned before I called Leslie. Leslie and I ran straight down 40th west to sky drive and back. We went nice a slow because we were both tired. | |
| | Ben, Duke and I did our usual walk down 114th to the River Bottoms and back and then I met the BBK's a Bingham. We first ran over to Templeview and ran around it about 4-5 times and then went to Bonanza and did it 3 time and then did Prospector. We had a new girl come today named Cher. She was slow like me so I had someone to talk to the whole time. She had to leave a 6:30. It was a good run and I was very tired afterwards. |
| | Ben, Duke and I walked down to the light at the river bottoms at 4:30 this morning. Then I made breakfast and cleaned the kitchen. Then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises for the first time since my hand surgery 1 and 1/2 weeks ago. You wouldn't think leg weight exercises would hurt my hand, but I hold 10# weights in my hands when I do the first two reps and 20# weights on the next two reps. It only hurt my hand a little bit. I decided to wait 1 more week before doing my pushups because I know they would hurt my hand. |
| | Ben, Duke and I did our usual walk down to the light at the River Bottoms. Then I filled my water bottle and headed out the door to meet the BBK's at the Tithing Hill church. I got there just in time to do the 1 mile warmup. We jogged through the Tithing Hill condo's and down the hill and then back up again. I ran fast down the hill and by the time a ran back up was tired. Melanie Steere was back after having her baby. It was good to see her. Rachel's friend Calvin was also here for the first time. Then I went home and ate breakfast and made breakfast for Kent and then Called and woke Leslie up. We did our usual daybreak run. It didn't get me as tired today as it has the past two weeks. Tomorrow at 5am we are headed to Fish Lake to visit our friends that have a cabin there so the only exercise I will be getting is when we go for walks with them. | |
| | I didn't walk with Ben this morning because he didn't have time. I ate breakfast and cleaned and then I called Leslie and woke her up. We ran down 40th west to Sky Drive and back. It was a good run and it was a little cooler and I liked that. |
| |
I walked at 4:45 with Ben and then when we got back I met the BBK's at Riverton High. I didn't get there for the early miles but I was few minutes early and so was Carissa so we ran down 27th almost to the light and turned around and headed back where we met the others turning into the parking lot. We ran around the parking lot and then picked up the others. They were doing a 1 mile warmup before going to the track. Debbie didn't want to run on the track and neither did I so we just continued on north and ran to 112th South and then turned around. When we were almost back Kris Bullock caught up with us. Then we ran through the neighborhood across from the school and then back to the school. It was a good run and I enjoyed visiting with Debbie and Kris.
This afternoon I did my arm weight exercises. It's the first time I have been able to do them since I had my hand surgery. It didn't hurt much and I was glad to get the exercise.
| |
| | Ben, Duke and I did our usual walk down to the light at the river bottoms and back. It is usually a pretty brisk walk with Duke pulling Ben along. Then I got home and my husband had made me breakfast for my Birthday. After breakfast I read scriptures, did my indexing and then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 50 mens pushups followed by a 1 minute break and then 20 more. Boy laying off the pushups for two weeks because of my hand made the pushups harder than ever. |
| | Ben, Duke and I did our walk at 4:30 this morning. Duke spotted a couple of cats along the way and boy did we go fast for awhile, Ben could hardly hold him back. I got back in time to go to the early miles with the BBk's. They started out right when I got there so I was behind from the start. They headed north through the subdivision and after a while I lost them, but I kept going and then made my way back to the church. Eric was coming north along the road by the church so I turned around and ran with him until we met up with the others and then went back to the church. For our regular miles we ran down 3200 from 114th to 106th and then west to the credit union and then south to 114th and then back. I visited with Eric, Kris, Debbie and Kellie for a few minutes and then they went ahead. I kept going until about 5 people passed me heading back so then I turned around and started back. I made it back before Kris, Debbie and Eric because they went the full 6 miles and I think I only went 5. It was a good run and I was tired at the end. I visited with Rachel for a few minutes before I left. Then I went home, ate the 3 pieces of my Birthday cake that were left and then called Leslie. Jenny was staying with her so I went over to tend Jenny's kids so she could run with Leslie. Then I came home, cleaned up and cleaned the house. Then Jenny and I went to Costco and then I took her to lunch for her birthday that was in June. She lives in Idaho so this was the first chance I had to take her. We went to Olive Garden and it was delicious. | |
| | This morning when Duke, Ben and I were walking I saw a skunk in the field about 10 feet away. That was the fastest I have ever seen Ben run. Luckily Duke didn't see the skunk. On the way back we walked on the other side of the street. After breakfast and some cleaning I called and woke Leslie up and then we did our usual daybreak bike ride. |
| | This morning Ben, Duke and I didn't walk until 5am. Ben's leg was sore so we only went 1 mile. Then I came home, made breakfast and cleaned the kitchen. I called Leslie at 6:30 and headed over to run with her. We ran to Chrissy's and back. When we got to Chrissy's we used the bathroom and refilled our water bottles and headed back. On the way back I saw one of my co-workers running towards us so I stopped and talked to her for about 5 minutes and then we continued on. On the way back I was getting quite hot and was glad I had cold water to drink. I had a nice visit with Leslie as we ran. | |
| | Ben, Duke and I walked our usual course at 4:15 this morning. Then I made breakfast, cleaned the kitchen and my bedroom and then called Leslie and woke her up. Duke, Leslie and I ran our usual course. Since Duke hasn't jogged for 3 weeks he was extra excited and boy did we go fast. After I finished cleaning the house I took Ben to Olive Garden for his birthday.
| |
| | Ben, Duke and I walked at 4:15. We did our usual walk to the river bottoms. We didn't see any skunks but we did see one cat. I got back in time to go to the early miles of the BBK's. We met at the soccer fields. I started off early doing the 5K course going left. I didn't see anyone until I got back. We then ran to the fitness center to start our run. We ran from there up Canterwood. I thought they were coming back down but when I got to the top no on was there so I ran on 2700 to Rustic Roads. On my way down Rustic Roads I saw the others coming up. I ran to the bottom and met Kris Bullock coming up. We ran up and the others were gone so we headed back down and back to the soccer fields. We met the others and started back to Rustic Roads. We ran up and down one more time and then headed back to the soccer fields. I was very tired at the end. | |
| | This morning at 4:15 Ben, Duke and I did our usual walk to the River Bottoms and back. This afternoon I did my Leg weight/stomach exercises along with 50 mens pushups, a 30 second break and then 25 more. I did my exercises while I watched my favorite show "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire." | |
| | I actually slept in until 5am and then Ben, Duke and I went on our walk. Leslie called when I got back and said she wanted to sleep until at least 7 because she was on call last night and got an early morning phone call. I ate breakfast and did my cleaning until it was time to wake up Leslie. She ended up sleeping until 8 so we only did a 4 mile run. It was already getting hot so I was glad we only went 4 miles. |
| | Ben, Duke and I only walked 1 mile today because Ben still wasn't feeling up to par. Then I came home and ate breakfast and cleaned before I called and woke Leslie up so we could ride bike. We rode our usual 8 mile course through Daybreak. |
| | Ben, Duke and I did our usual walk down to the River bottoms and back. Then I ate breakfast and took my sister the airport. I had my sister's get-away at my sister's cabin in Heber City over the weekend. Six of my sisters made it, one came from Indiana and one from Arizona. Only my sister that lives in Canada couldn't make it. After I took my sister to the airport I drove to Leslie's and ran with her. We ran down 40th west to Sky Drive and then back to Leslie's. |
| | Ben, Duke and I did our walk to the River Bottoms and then I went to meet the BBK's at Riverton High School. I was a few minutes late and they had already left, but just as I was leaving Michelle came so I waited for her and we went the other direction to meet up with the group. I had a good visit with Michelle until we saw the others coming and then I turned around and headed back. They all caught me before we got to the neighborhood. When we got back to the school and met the others we headed to the track. I wasn't excited to run on the track so I looked for Debbie and when she got there we decided to run off track. We met Eric in the parking lot and he ran with us too. We did our normal mile run but instead of turning around we headed north and ran until just past 114th at the round about I turned around and Eric and Debbie kept going. I thought they would catch me before I got back but they didn't. It was a good run and I was very tired at the end. | |
| | Duke, Ben and I did our usual walk on 114th down to the River Bottoms and back. Then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups. The pushup weren't quite as hard this week. | |
| | Ben, Duke and I only walked 1 mile because Ben was very tired this morning. Then I met the BBk's at the Park at the bottom of Tithing Hill and brought Duke. We ran along the trail. I was able to keep up with Duke pulling me. I did 4 miles with the group and then came home and called Leslie and ran 6 with her. I think I got a very good workout today. |
| | Ben, Duke and I walked a mile and then Leslie and I rode our bikes. |
| | It is sure fun to see how excited Duke is to go walking or running. Ben, Duke and I did our usual walk to the River Bottoms. Then I ate breakfast and cleaned before I called Leslie. We didn't run until about 7:30 and we were both tired so we just did our Daybreak 6 mile course. It was a lot harder than it was on Thursday when I had already walked a mile and a half and then run with the BBK's for 4 miles before I did our daybreak course. I'm glad I wasn't doing a half marathon. I did sign up for the South Jordan Half that is in October so I better get ready for it. | |
| | My usual 1.5 with Ben and Duke and then I ran 3 with Duke and then I had to get ready for work. It is going to be hard to get used to working again. |
| |
I walked a mile with Ben and Duke and then ran with the BBK's. I couldn't stay the whole time because I had to work at 7. We did our usual 3 mile warmup course and then a mile on the track. Then some stayed on the track and some of us ran off road. I hate running on the track so I was glad to run off road. After work I did my arm weight exercises.

| | Ben Duke and I did our usual 1.5 mile course and then I did my leg weight/ stomach exercises along with pushups. Then I went to help my daughter Becca move. She lives on the 3 floor of an apartment so I went up and down 3 flights of stairs at least 100 times. Boy was I tired when I got home. |
| | Duke, Ben and I did our usual 1.5 mile run and then I ran 3 with Leslie. I was very tired from helping my daughter Becca move so I was glad Leslie only wanted to go 3 miles. After Leslie got off work we rode bikes but we only went 6 miles because it was very windy. |
| | This morning Ben was too tired to walk so Duke and I ran the 1.5 miles down to the river bottoms and back. |
| | Ben wanted to sleep in so I ran 3 miles with Duke and then did our usual walk when I got back. I didn't run with Leslie because Ben and I were having a garage sale at 8am. I walked another half a mile putting signs up at both ends of our street. |
| | Ben, Duke and I did our usual walk down to the River Bottoms and back and then I took Duke on a 3 mile run. Then I ate breakfast and got ready for work. My daughter Christine is in labor so I will probably be spending the night at her house tending kids. | |
| | Ben, Duke and I did our usual walk down to the river bottoms and then I went to running group. I went to the early miles and then stayed for 1 mile of the other. My daughter was having her baby and I had to be to her house by seven to tend her kids. She had her baby boy and my 27th grandchild at 1:30pm. He is a healthy boy and weighed 8lbs 2oz. I took care of her kids until 8:30 and then went home. I was very tired. | |
| | Ben, Duke and I did our usual walk down to the river bottoms and then I had to be to work at 6am. After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises. |
| | Ben, Duke and I did our usual walk down to the river bottoms. Ben really had a hard time holding onto Duke on the way back after Duke spotted a cat and decided to run after it. I'm glad Ben was holding onto him. Then I met the group for the early miles. It was nice to visit with everyone for a minute before they all got ahead of me. When we got back to the church for the regular miles I took off early because I knew the route and could only stay for 1/2 and hour more. I ran down to 3200 and to 104th and then turned around and headed back. Then I got ready and went to work. Everyone at work noticed that I had a black eye. Last night I helped Leslie lift her spin bike out of the back of her truck and as I was lifting the metal part that holds the seat hit me in the face just below my eye. It didn't hurt too much but it really gave me a black eye. After work I took my second oldest daughter to lunch for her Birthday. She turned 38 today. We went to Olive Garden and it was very good. | |
| | Ben, Duke and I did our usual walk down to the River Bottoms. Then I ate breakfast and went to work. |
| | I met the group at Village Inn for the early morning run. We were doing the South Jordan half route. The others started out ahead of me but Eric ran with me. We headed out to 118th and south to 40th west, then north past the temple. Then the others kept going and Eric and I stopped and called Leslie and then ran to her house which is just below the temple in the subdivision. After we picked Leslie up we continued on on 40th west to Sky Drive and then headed west. Part way up Lisa Dudley was heading back our way. She got lost and didn't know the route so she ran with us. She and Eric ran ahead, but stopped every now and then to get directions from us. We made it past the gulley and then out to 106th. We stopped for a minute and Lisa gave us a shot blok and we gave them the directions for the rest of the way. We made it up to the Lake and around and stopped at the Pop and then up to Soda Row and on to the elementary school and then south. Leslie was feeling a little bit sick and our water was almost all gone so we stopped at the church on 118th and filled our bottles. Since she was feeling sick and my foot was hurting, we decided to just head straight down 118th to the district. We got back just ahead of Lisa and Eric. As we drove out I said goodbye to Eric and took Leslie home. It was a good run and I was tired at the end, but now I know I can make the South Jordan half in October. | |
| | I did my usual early morning walk with Ben and Duke. Then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 60 pushups, 30second break and 25more. Then I did some cleaning and cooking to get ready for our family BBQ and then Leslie and I rode our bikes. We only rode 5 miles because we had to finish getting ready for the BBQ. I had all my kids, son-in-laws and grandkids over except my daughter that lives in Idaho and her family. We had a lot of fun but it was wild city with that many people here. | |
| | I walked my usual with Ben and Duke and then ran 3 miles. I didn't meet my running group because they were meeting at Butterfield canyon and that was too far for the time I had. My foot was hurting while I walked with Ben and it hurt worse when I ran. It really hurt at work so I decided that I better not run the rest of the week. |
| | I used Leslie's stationary bike for 30 minutes before work. Now I am going to do my arm weight exercises. |
| |
I used the Elliptical and the stationary bike before work. My foot is feeling some better but it still hurt off and on at work. After dinner Leslie and I went on a 6 mile bike ride and it only took us 24 minutes.
| |
| | I walked with Ben and Duke. We did our usual course to the River Bottoms. My foot hurt the whole time but not so bad that I couldn't keep going. |
| | I did a little bit shortened walk with Ben and Duke. My foot hurt a little but not too much. After work my foot was very sore. I have an appointment with Dr. Toronto on Friday. After my nap I did my leg weight exercises. I did a shortened version because my foot hurt while I was doing it. |
| | I used the stationary bike for 30 minutes before work. After work I will do my arm weight exercises. |
| | I did my arm weight exercises. |
| | I went to Dr. Toronto after work. He confirmed that I have PF and I won't be able to run for at least a few more days if the prednisone does the trick. |
| | Since I wasn't able to run the Kick it for Kendra run that I had registered for, I rode my bike over and then rode the course before the race and then with the race and then rode home. There were lots of people there and Kendra and her parents also. I'm glad there was a good turnout. |
| | Dr. Toronto told me that if I got out of bed and my foot didn't hurt I could walk. It didn't hurt so I walked my usual route with Ben and Duke. My foot hurt a little along the way and it really hurt all day at work so I guess I won't be walking or running any time soon. Stupid PF. | |
| | I am feeling very frustrated because I can't run or walk because of my PF injury. My husband and son didn't want me to ride my bike by myself, but finally I got so frustrated that I rode it by myself anyway and I felt much better. I went 6 miles and it took me 20 minutes. Tomorrow I am going to call Dr. Toronto and tell him I need a cortisone shot. | |
| | I rode my bike on the 6 mile course and did it in 20 minutes. Then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises. |
| | I rode my bike on the 6 miles course and did it in 20 minutes. I sure hope I can run soon. | |
| | I walked half a mile with Ben and Duke, they kept walking and I jogged back. My foot didn't hurt too much so I am going to start walking and running a little each day because I am determined to run the SJ half that I signed up for. When it gets light I will ride my bike on my 6 mile course. | |
| | I walked a half mile with Ben and Duke and then ran back. I decided that it hurts less to run than to walk. After work I rode my bike on the 6 mile course. |
| | This morning I ran 1 mile while Duke and Ben walked. I waited until they left and went a differnt direction so Duke wouldn't try to chase after me pulling Duke. My foot is starting to feel a lot better but still hurt s whenever I walk or run so tomorrow I am going to Dr. Toronto and get a cortisone shot. | |
| | I went and got my cortisone shot this morning. My foot is feeling very numb. Dr. Toronto said I could ride a bike all I wanted and on Monday I can walk a mile and run 1.5 miles. I sure hope it works because I am planning on running the SJ half on Oct. 15. Leslie and I will ride our bikes after she gets off work. | |
| | Did my 6 mile bike course. |
| | Leslie and I rode our 12 mile course from my house to redwood road south to 126th then west to 3200, north to 118th, west to 40th west, north to 98th, east to redwood and then south to 114th. It was a good ride. |
| | I was able to walk half a mile and run one and a half and my foot didn't hurt too much. I think it is getting better. |
| | I didn't do any exercise today except walk around at Capitol Reef. Ben, Kent, Leslie and I drove down on Monday after work. My 6th oldest daughter got married today at Capitol Reef. It turned out very nice and we are happy for them. | |
| | I ran 3 miles this morning before work. It only hurt a little bit. After work I did my arm weight exercises. |
| | I used the spin bike for 30 minutes and got a very good workout. |
| | I walked 1 mile with Duke this morning and than this afternoon I did my leg weight/stomach exercises and my 80 mens pushups. I did 50 pushups, took a 30 second break and did 30 more.
| |
| | Leslie and I ran our 6 mile daybreak course. It was the longest I have run in 6 weeks since my PF started acting up. It didn't hurt much, I just had a few twinges of pain. I am running the South Jordan Half next Saturday so I just hope all the training I did before the injury will be enough to get me through the race. I wasn't too dead after so I think if I just go slow and easy I will make it to the end. Leslie signed up for the race yesterday so she could help me along. She is such a nice daughter. | |
| | I met the BBK's at the SJ Library for the early miles. Lisa Dudley was the only other person there so she ran slow with me. We had a nice visit. Had had to be to work at 6am so I was ony able to run 2.5. My foot was starting to hurt just a little at the end of the run. | |
| | Met the BBK's at the Parkway Palisades park for the early miles. Duke ran with me and it really helped. The only ones at the early miles were Mike and Peggy. It was nice to visit with them. I had to be to work at 6am. My foot didn't hurt too much after. I hope I am ready for my half on Saturday. |

South Jordan Half Marathon. I couldn't get the race format to work for the time so I had to publish this like a normal run. This ended up being a very interesting race. It was quite cool when we got to the race start. We could have arrived at least 30 minutes later and still made it in time. I thought since we were getting dropped off that the roads might be crowded, but there wasn't any traffic on the way up. Leslie could have slept in for another 30 minutes.(Off course I always wake up at 4 or 4:30.) We huddled around the warmers for awhile and then got in line for the POP. There were lots of them so it was quick. We waited until the very last minute to take our warm clothes off and head to the start. I saw Kris from our running group and his wife and Leslie saw her bosses wife. We started off nice and easy. Since I wasn't able to train much for the past 5 weeks I wanted to be sure I made it to the end. We ran past a lady that looked like she could be in my age group so I talked to her for a minute and she was in my age group. We kept plugging along and at about mile 5 Leslie needed a POP stop so I told her to run ahead. I met her just after mile 6 and there was no POP there. I tried to get her to run ahead because I was getting very tired. When we got to mile 8 I was slowing down and the other lady in my age group caught up with us. She told Leslie she would stay with me so she could go on ahead. This lady was very nice and she used a technique where she would walk for about 10 steps about every half mile. This really helped me to not get so tired. My foot was hurting just a little. We kept doing this until we got to about the half a mile when a marathon runner passed us and was running very wobbly. He then started walking wobbly and then collapsed. We ran up to him and a biker stopped and gave us his water bottle and we helped the guy drink some. We told him to stay laying down. After a couple of minutes he said he wanted to finish the race. We helped him up and he was still quite wobbly so Carol took one side and I took the other and with his arms over out shoulders we helped him wobble to the finish line. It was his first marathon and he finished in 3 hours and 13 minutes. Carol and I walked across the same time but they gave me first place and her second in our age group because we were the only ones in our age group. It probably added 10 extra minutes to our time but we were glad we could help him finish. My time ended up being 2 hours and 36 minutes. I could have finished 10 minutes faster if we hadn't helped the runner that collapsed, but I'm glad we helped him. We still got 1st and 2nd and a free entry into next years half which really made me happy.
| |
| | Ben, Duke and I walked this morning at 4:30. We went our usual route. My foot hardly hurt at all. Tonight after dinner I did my arm weight exercises. | |
| | Duke and I met the group at the SJ soccer fields for the early miles. Kris, Julie, Lisa and I were the only ones. We did our usual course except we came down Canterwood instead of Rustic Roads. When I got back and was ready to leave I couldn't find my keys. I had to call Kent and he brought the extra set. Luckily he went back when it was light and drove along the course and found them. |
| | I did my leg weight/stomach exercise along with pushups. |
| | Duke and I met the group for the regular miles. I only stayed for 3 miles because I didn't want my foot to get sore and I didn't want Duke's leg to get sore. | |
| | I ran 3 miles with Duke and Then I came home and packed to go to Idaho with mu husband to visit our daughter Jenny and her family. |
| | Leslie and I met the group at the SJ library for our Saturday run. We left before the others because we knew they would pass us soon. They were all going 10-12 but Leslie and I only wanted to go 6. We headed out to 13th west and south towards Riverton Park. The group caught us quite fast and yell "Hi" as they passed. We continued on until the light at 126th and then turned around and headed back. When we got to 114th we turned west and stopped at my house to use the restroom and pick up Duke. Duke was so excited he dragged me faster that usual. Leslie caught up several times when Duke stopped to use a bush. It was a good run and I really enjoyed it. We both have a busy day planned so next week maybe we can go farther. |
| | I ran 3 miles with Duke before work. |
| | I met the group at the park at the bottom of tithing hill for the early miles. We ran along the parkway trail. I ran with Duke. I'm glad I had a head light because it was dark. I had to leave right after the early miles to be to work at 6am. |
| |
I had a headache this morning so I only ran 1 mile with Duke before work. After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises.
|
| | Duke and I met the group and the River Front Park. Peggy was the only other person that came for the early miles. I had a nice visit with Peggy. Duke had to stop at almost every bush. I had to be to work at 6 so I couldn't stay for the other run. | |
| | Leslie and I met the group at SJ Library for the Saturday run. We started off early because we knew the others would pass us quickly. We ran out to 13th west and headed south. The group caught us fast and said "Hi" as they passed. We continued south to 126th and then we turned around. They were all going 10-12 but Leslie and I only had time to go 6. We headed north to 114th and then turned west and stopped at my house for a pit stop and to pick up Duke. Duke was so excited he pulled me even faster than normal. Leslie caught up several times when Duke stopped to use a bush. It was a good run and since Leslie and I had a lot to do today 6 was just right. |
| | Duke and I ran our usual 3 mile course at 4:30am this morning. I had to be to work at 6am. | |
| | I had to be to work at 6am and didn't have time to meet the group so Duke and I did our usual 3 mile route at 4:30 am. | |
| | I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 80 pushups. |
| | I met the group for the early miles. They were meeting close by. Duke and I stayed with them for the 3 miles and then headed home so I could be to work at 6. I had a good visit with Peggy. | |
| |
Since I had the day off and tomorrow I will be helping Leslie move, I ran with Leslie this morning. We ran our 6 mile daybreak course. It was a good run but will be our last for that course since Leslie is moving.
| |
| | The group was meeting at Michelle M house and since Leslie wanted to sleep in longer I took Duke and we ran to Michelle's to meet the group. There were five others besides me. We ran out to 13th west and then south to 120th south. It was very windy and chilly running this direction and I was glad I had on long pants and my warm stuff. Duke pulled fast enough that I was ahead of the group until Leslie called and said she was on the way. We ran east to Lampton and then the end and when we got to the trail on 114th they went north and I went west and headed back to my house to meet Leslie. We left Duke and headed north on 13th west and we crossed over 106th and just as we got to the bottom we saw the group coming so we followed them west. They turned left by Del Taco and we kept going to redwood and turned south and headed back home. It was a good run. |
| | I ran 3 miles with Duke before work. It was snowing just a little but I still got very warm by the end of my run. | |
| | I met the group at Peggy's house for the early miles. Only Peggy, Cheris and I came for the early miles. Duke and I started out ahead until he stopped at every bush. We kept up most of the time and then I had to hurry off to work. |
| | I had the day off to take my son to the Dr. Instead of running this morning I went to the temple. This afternoon I did my arm weight exercises. |
| | I met the group at the SJ soccer field for the early miles. Peggy and Lisa were there and about half way through Michelle came. Duke and I kept up real well until he had to stop and use every bush, and then pulled me very fast to catch up. I still have to be to work at 6am every day. | |
| | I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 50 pushups, 30second break and 30 more pushups. |
| | I accidently entered my Saturday's run on last Saturday's blog. I ran 4 miles with Duke and 4 miles with Leslie and my group on Saturday.
|
| | This morning before work, Duke and I ran our usual 3 miles course. This afternoon I will do my arm weight exercises. | |
| | I met the group for the early miles. Duke and I kept up pretty good until Duke kept stopping to use bushes. I enjoyed the run. |
| | I ran 3 miles with Duke before work. |
| | Met the group at the Parkway Palisades park for the early miles. Michelle M was the only one there. I had a good visit with her and on the way we met up with Peggy and Julie who came a little late. It was a good run. |
| | After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/ stomach exercises along with 50 pushups, 30 second break and 30 more. I wish I could do 80 without a break, but for some reason I must be getting soft and can't do as many as I used to be able to do. |
| | Leslie wanted to sleep in for a while so I got up and cleaned until 7:45 and then called and woke her up. We only ran 4 miles because she was going to look at a house at 10:30. We ran through Ralphy's neighborhood north to Daybreak until we hit 2 miles and then turned around. It wasn't too cold but there were lots of icy spots so we had to go slow. It was a good run. | |
| | It was raining before work so I ran 3 miles after work with Duke. |
| | Duke and I met the group at the SJ library for the early miles. We ran all around through the subdivisions and back. It was a good run and I enjoyed visiting with everyone. | |
| | I ran 3 miles with Duke before work. |
| | Duke and I met the group at Bingham High for the Thanksgiving Day run. We only ran 3 miles with them and then I had to get home to put the Turkey in the oven. I was going to run more with Leslie later, but we both got lazy. We had a very nice Thanksgiving dinner at noon with All of my kids and grandkids except one daughter and her family who went to Minnesota to be with her mother-in-law. We had 34 people here and it was a lot of fun but crowded. Next year if everyone comes we will have to get one more table. | |
| |
Today I did my arm weight exercises. Tomorrow I am running the Santa race with 4 of my daughters and granddaughter. I'm sure it will be fun except for having to wear a full Santa Suit. I will be roasting by the end.
|
| |
I met the running group at Julie's for our Saturday run. Eric and I started off early because I am so slow and he thinks he is slow. I had a good visit with Eric. We ran from Julie's to the Riverton Park to do the 10K course. Since I was running a race this afternoon I turned around at 3 miles and headed back to Julie's. It was a fun run. This afternoon 4 of my daughters, 2 son-in-laws and 4 of my grandkids and I went to Ogden and ran the Santa run. We all met at Bridget and Glens house in Ogden and then went to the race from there. It is called the Santa run because everyone in the race is wearing a full Santa Suit. There were about 1000 Santa's. We were closer to the back so it took a long time to actually start running. I ran with my Granddaughter Rachel who is 11 years old and is on the cross country team at Hawthorne Academy. She got tired a few times so we walked, but most of the time she was able to keep up with me. We had a good time running together and at the end we sprinted and passed up five or six people. Then we walked back to our spot for the parade. We really had a fun time and got some cute pictures of all of us in Santa Suits. If I knew how to put pictures on this blog I would put a picture of all of us in Santa Suits.
| |
| | I ran 3 miles with Duke before work. After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups. |
| | I didn't run this morning because my foot was very sore. After dinner I used the Spin bike. I got a good workout, but don't enjoy it as much as running outside. |
| | I took another day off of running, but I did use the spin bike again. I plan on running in the morning with the group. | |
| | I met the group at the church up the street. Duke and I were the only ones that showed up so I ran with him down to the light on 2700 and then ran back. I needed to be to work a 6am so I decided that 1.5 was far enough. |
| | Leslie, Duke and I ran our 3 miles course from my house down redwood to 106th. Going north the wind was blowing and it was freezing cold. On the way back I started to warm up and even pushed down my arm warmers. I have very low miles for this week because both of my feet have been hurting. I think I have a little tendonitis in both of them. I will have to keep taking anti-inflammatory and stretching. Maybe next week I will be able to go more. Duke's knees is also bothering him so he won't be able to run for at least 2 weeks. | |
| | I used the spin bike tonight after dinner. I got a good workout. |
| | I met the group at the trailhead on 98th. Peggy was the only one there. We started on the trail and then we felt uneasy about it so we went back to the parking lot and started to head up to the neighborhood when Michelle pulled up. We ran part way up the hill to the neighborhood and then continued up the hill in the neighborhood. When we got toe 10th west we headed south to 106th and then east. We turned around before 13th west and headed back. It was a good run and I got a good workout trying to keep up with Peggy and Michelle. Duke can't run for 2 weeks, so I'm glad they came for the early miles. Then I had to hurry off to work. | |
| | After dinner I rode the spin bike for 1/2 and hour and then did my arm weight exercises. |
| | I met the group at the SJ Soccer field for the early run. Peggy and Michelle were there so I had a good visit with them while we ran the 5K course. It was a good run and it reminded me why I love to run outside. It was 5 degrees warmer than when I ran on Tuesday. | |
| | I used the elliptical before work. |
| | I went to Leslie's at 7:30 this morning. We wanted to go 8 but Leslie needed to be back before 9 to babysit. We left her house and headed through the subdivision north past 118th and then through daybreak to the lake. We ran around the lake and then headed back. It was quite chilly, but it didn't take too long to warm up. We had a nice visit and got back in time for her to tend. |
| | This morning before work I ran 3 miles with Duke. |
| | Since I took the day off of work to take Ben to the Dr. I was able to stay for the whole run. When I left it had been snowing and there was snow on the ground. Kent didn't think any of the group would be there. I was surprised that there were 15 people there. We had a fun run. |
| | I slept in until 4:45 so I only had time to run 1 mile . It had snowed just a little so Duke and I went slow so we didn't slip. After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises. |
| | I met the group for the early miles. I was the only one there and was about to leave and Michelle showed up. We started out in the parking lot at Bingham and it was very slippery and foggy so we went out to the road and it was okay. I had my head light and reflector vest on. We ran down to 2200 and the north to the first subdivision. We did the loop and then went back out to 2200. We saw a runner a little way ahead and ran to catch up to see if it was someone from our group that had come late. We caught up when the runner turned around and it was Cheris from our group. We ran through another subdivision and then turned around and headed back to the school. I was glad to have someone to run with. | |
| | After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups. I was able to do 60 pushups and then take a 30 second break and do 25 more. |
| | I met the group at Julie's for the turn. I wasn't sure where they were running, but I needed to run to Herriman to meet my daughter. There was a pretty big group. We ran out to redwood road and they all went east and I turned north and headed to 118th. I ran up 118th and when I got to 3600 W my daughter called and said she would start running my direction. I ran under Bangerter and past 40th west and headed up the hill. When I was almost to the street that turns into my daughters subdivision I saw her heading my way. It was 20 degrees, so when we met up, I pounded my water bottle on the gutter so I could open it and take a drink. Then we headed baci down 118th. It was a lot easier on the way back down. When we got back to Julie's I hurried and drove Leslie home and got ready for our Ward Christmas breakfast. Then I went Christmas shopping, cleaned the house and got ready for my family Christmas party. I had my brothers and sisters over for a Christmas party. |
| | I ran 3 miles with Duke this morning before work. | |
| | The group was meeting at a church on 98th S. and 40th West. I didn't have time to drive there, run and make it back and get ready for work in time, so I used the elliptical and stationary bike. I got my exercise, but it sure isn't as fun as running group.
| |
| | I used the Elliptical and stationary bike before work. |
| | Duke and I met the group at SJ library for the early run. It was snowy so I went extra slow because I didn't want to fall down. There were 5 other crazy people at the early run. Going north the wind was blowing so it was extra cold. I had to hurray home and get to work. |
| | Leslie and I met our group at Cheris's house dressed in our full Santa Suits that we got at our Santa run. There was a big group. We only ran two miles out with the group and then headed back because Jenny and Chrissy wanted to run a mile with us in their Santa Suits. It was very cold on the first run but when we came back to run with Chrissy and Jenny I was already warm. We brought Duke with us since we were only running a mile. We had a lot of people honk and wave at us. | |
| | I woke up at 5am, ate breakfast and did some cleaning and my arm weight exercises. Then I called Leslie and woke her up and we ran 4 miles. It was a good run and I enjoyed it. |
| | I met the group at the church on 114th and 33rd west. I didn't go for the early miles because I was able to stay for the full hour of the regular run. We started out running up 114th to Lucas way and then went north and weaved through the subdivision out to 3200 and then north past 106th and then all around those subdivisions. The group kept circling back and picking me up or I would have been completely lost. I stayed for the full hour and I think I ran 5.5 miles but I'm not sure. I am very sure that I was very, very tired at the end. It was fun to run with the group.
| |
| | I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with my pushups. Then I went to the Zoo with some of my kids and grandkids and walked all over for two hours. It was a lot of fun. |
| | I met the group at the church on tithing hill. We ran out to 13th west and right into the next subdivision. We did a loop twice. On the second time around I was way behind, but Debbie got their late and caught up with me. We thought they kept looping so we did the loop again and couldn't find the group so on our third time around we headed down the hill and ran to Lampton and ran north to the end. Then we turned around and ran back to the top of Lampton going the other direction. We still didn't see anyone from the group so we did a loop around the Tithing Hill Condo and up the big hill.
