Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

2010  Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group

Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group

South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group

Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

2010

Riverton 1/2 Marathon  3rd in age

Daybreak Triathlon 1st in age

Riverton 10K

Hobblecreek 1/2 Marathon

Vikingman Triathlon

MS 100 Mile Bike ride finished in 7 hours

2016

Terrain Run with son and daughter.  It was fun but very muddy

August 25 Triathamom with my daugter Christine

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running, biking, swimming and stay fit until I'm 100 years old

Personal:

I'm married, have 8 kids (7 daughters and one son) and 28 grandkids. I have a great supportive husband.  The grandsons and grand daughters are now tied at 14.  I have 2 grand daughters married and one going on a mission to Australia.

I just started on this running blog because all the runners in our group are always talking about it.  I'm really not a blogger, but I will try.

Duke and I got to running group at 5:15.  Peggy, Mike, Julie and several others were there early for the extra miles.  Duke wanted to go fast, so we were at the head of the pack.  We did a two mile loop and then jogged back to meet the rest of the group.  There were lots of people there(at least 15).  I was tired by then so I was in the middle of the pack.  I had to leave for work so I jogged back to my car when everyone else went to head for Tithing Hill.

Leslie, Chrissy, Duke and I ran 8 miles.  Leslie ran ahead with Duke and Christine stayed with me.  Her knee has been hurting her and she wanted to take it easy.  She turned for home when she got to 2200 because she had to be home at 8.  Leslie and Duke beat me by about 2 minutes.   It was a good run and I wasn't dead.

Leslie Duke and I ran 9 easy miles this morning.  Chrissy couldn't come because Dan had to work and we didn't leave until 7 am.  Leslie took Duke and got him to go slow, so I was able to keep up with them.  I was very tired at the end, but not dead.  We ran the course down 13th west past the S curve and under Bangerter.  If we're not too dead tonight we might swim laps.   We are buying subway for lunch and most of the grandkids are coming over to eat and play games.  It is sure nice to have the day off.

Today was the coldest day so far at running group.  We must all like the cold because there were about 20 people there today.  I didn't go until 5:45 because I was tired from running 9 miles on Monday and then swimming 18 laps at night.  I also woke up at 2am and stayed awake for two hours.  Duke and I kept up pretty good.  It was great that Michelle's husband Jared came to running group.  Since I didn't have to leave early and go to work I got to visit with quite a few people.

Today I did my leg weight and stomach exercises and then Leslie and I swam.  Leslie is a muc better swimmer than I am.  She went 21 laps all front crawl, I only went 19 laps and 3/4ths of them were back crawl.

I met our BBK runers at 5:15.  It wasn't as cold today.  I was able to visit with Michelle today and I really enjoyed it.  I don't get to visit much with her anymore.  I ran 3 miles and then I had to leave because I had to be to work at 6 am.  After work I took a short nap and then did my arm weight exercises.

Didn't get to see you much today. It wasn't the best day for being outside running--the air was pretty bad. We'll see you next week.

From Rachel on Thu, Jan 22, 2009 at 20:22:49

Nancy, hopefully I'll be ready to bring Lucy back with me soon and we'll have to run together and do some 'dog talk'. I've only had Lucy for 4 months or so now so I'm still in the 'smitten' stage with my puppy! The book I was telling you about the other day is "The dog listener" by Jan Ferrell. It is amazing! It teaches you how to be the Alpha and your dog's behavior simply falls in line with what you want, because of the natural 'pecking order'. If you've got a bit of time, its a good read! It will definately help with your pulling problems with Duke as well. Not that I've gotten it all down with Lucy yet, we still have more than a few bumps to get over, but it does help!

Today instead of running a long run we (Leslie, Chrissy and I) went to a Triathlon class at Marv Jensen's.  Boy was it a killer.  We swam for about an hour, then we biked and then we alternated between running on the treadmill and the gym.  We all felt dead afterwards.  Then after we came home and showered, we went to a baby shower for Ralphie.(My second oldest daughters whose baby is due in February)

Nancy,

Hey, I didn't know you were on the blog. It is good to know so I can check out what you are up to.

What is the next race you have in mind? I have a feeling it is going to be a great year.

That sounds like a really good workout you had. Those classes are always good, always push you harder than you'd push yourself. Good job.

Duke and I met the BBK's at Peggy's for the early run.  Mike, Peggy, Walter, Julie and Cheris were there.  It was cold but it was a good run.  I had to leave before the main run because I had to be to work at 6.  Duke really wanted to stay and run more.

Met the group at the Parkway on 9800.  It wasn't very cold this morning.  The Parkway trail wasn't slippery at all.  Duke and I led the group and it was a fun run.  I had to leave after the first 1/2 hour because I had to be to work early.  I talked to Kimberly and I kept calling her Brittany.  For some reason I thought her name was Brittany.  She is going to give my daugher the directions to the Ensign Single Adult Ward for 30-40 year olds.

My daughter Jenny came to visit with her husband and 5 kids.  We (Leslie, Chrissy, Jenny, Duke and I) went running at 6:30.  We were going to run 8-10 miles but Chrissy and Jenny both had colds and Leslie's knee was hurting her.   We ran our 6 mile course to the South County Pool.  On the way there the wind was blowing and felt very chilly on the way back the wind was at our back and I was warm enough that I had to take off my warm stuff.  By the time we got home I was very tired and glad we only went 6.  Next week I hope to get more miles in.

Dean counted 22 counting Duke and Lucy.  I was able to stay the whole time because I went to work a half hour early on Monday.  I have a cold, so I wasn't sure I would make it the whole time but I did.  We had a great time running up and down the hills all around the subdivision.  I really did have a good time visiting with lots of people.

Nancy, it was fun to visit with you too. Lucy wasn't happy with me when I came home, she really wanted to come I just haven't gotten her out for a lot of long miles this winter so I didn't want to push her. Yeah (about my weight loss), you can ask Kelli, I started at the gym only about 20 pounds down, I'm now down another 30 from that. This has helped my running more than anything especially the aches and pains. Sorry about the cold! I hope it gets better soon. Hope to see you well and again on Tuesday (I'll be there for early miles since I'm taking Thursday off to fly to NC!)

After coughing half the night, I didn't feel too great at work today.  After work I had time for a 15 minute nap before I went to Cub Scouts.  After Cub Scouts I was able to rest for about an hour and then I went with Kent(my husband) to dinner at Red Robyn.  Dinner was good.  Kent has been taking me on a date every Friday night for the past 37 year that we have been married.  I'm sure lucky to have such a great husband.  After dinner we went to visit our Granddaughter Emma for her Birthday.

Today I even felt worse than yesterday.  Instead of going jogging or going to our Triathlon class I went to the Doctor and found out I have bronchitis.  I rested a lot today, cleaned and got groceries.  I missed jogging.  Leslie came and got Duke and took him running.  I hope I feel well enough by Tuesday to go to running group.

We got up this morning to do our long run.  I looked out the window saw all the snow and it was still snowing so we decided to go to the Triathlon Class instead and do our long run on Monday.  We swam 40 minutes, biked 40 minutes and ran 40 minutes.  The swimming and biking were hard, the running felt good except the part on the treadmill.  After 20 minutes on the treadmill we ran around the gym for 20 minutes.  Boy was I dead after the class.  They say if it doesn't kill you it will make you stronger.  I'm not dead, so I hope it makes me stronger.

Happy Valentines Day!!  I hope you all had a day as nice as mine.  My husband really spoils me.  He started giving me Valentine treats on Monday and everyday he left a treat on my pillow.  I got candy, a stuffed animal, bath supplies, a dozen red roses and he even took me out to dinner.

It was great to have the day off for President's day.  Jenny and her family were down visiting from Idaho.  Jenny, Leslie, Chrissy, Duke and I ran 10 miles.  It was a lot of fun running with my daughters.   I don't get to jog with Jenny very often.

My second oldest daughter was in labor, so I took her kids and we along with Jenny and her kids, Chrissy and her kids and Leslie went to El Farol for lunch.  There were 16 of us all together with 4 adults and 12 kids.  We had a good lunch and a lot of fun.  The kids were all pretty well behaved.

Ralphie(real name Angie) had a baby boy at 4:30 this afternoon.  He weighed 8 lbs 1 oz and was 21 inches long.  He is my 23rd grandchild and they are naming him Jake Bryon.

I am so happy to know another over 50 runner out there. I am getting back into it - started again 1 1/2 years ago and finally have done some half marathons - times getting better as I can get more speed and miles in. You are my hero, though with daughters that are running also. Congratulations on the marathons - my goal also, but a step at a time. 22 grand kids - that alone will keep you fit!

From Cheryl on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 13:29:30

Congratulations on the new grandson. What a run this morning. Just being out there today was a triumph, I certainly wouldn't have done it if not for the group. Thanks for being one of our loyal members--I always like seeing you and Duke there.

Congrats on the new grandson! That is awesome!!! I still can not believe you are even a grandma, you look way too young! My mom has 21 grandchildren and you look so much younger than her (not that she looks old---in case she ever reads that!) Running is the fountain of youth!

I woke up at about 4:15 this morning and heard the rain pounding on the window so I decided that if I went early to running group I would be the only one there.  To my surprise, when I got to running group at 5:45 there were about 18 people that came early, and I was the only one that came late.  I can't believe how tough all the runners in our group are.  It was prettty snowy and windy, but it didn't stop the BBK's from working out.

Nancy - first congrats on your new grandchild! I would love just one - but only have 1 married daughter, my son is hopeless...

Swimming is such a good idea to mix it up - in the long run probably better for the joints!

As far as NY goes - we will see - and yes, tons of people are in it and this is the 40th anniversary. I have never run it - so since my youngest daughter will be going to college in the Northeast in the fall, a good excuse to combine a visit and a run!

Met the group early at the Parkway on 9800.  It was snowy and cold.  We ran along the trail.  It was only slippery in a few spots.  Had a good time visiting with Peggy and Michelle P.  During the second 1/2 hour of our run while we were running along the trail, we turned to go on a new trail and I stepped off the edge and pulled my muscle again.  I must have pulled it a lot worse this time because it hurts to sit and I really have a hard time putting on my shoes.  I hope it feels better by Thursday.

Jenny, Duke and I ran to Leslie's.  My rear muscle was still a little sore and the muscle down the back of my leg was very stiff.  When we got to Leslie's I decided that it would be better if I drove back to my house while Jenny, Leslie, Chrissy and Duke ran back.  I had breakfast ready for them when they got here.  It was fun to run with Jenny. Since she lives in Idaho I don't get to run with her often.  When she lived in American Fork, I used to go down every other Saturday and run my long runs with her.  I just hope my muscle is better enougth to run the Riverton Half-Marathon so I don't have to walk part of it.

Leslie, Chrissy and I went to our Triathlon Class.  It was just as hard as usual.  We swam 40 minutes, biked 40 minutes and then instead of running on the treadmill we ran on the canal road.  By the time we ran I was pretty tired, but it was sure a lot nicer to jog outside.  Leslie wants to do a Triathlon on April 18th.  I don't know if I'll be ready, but I will do it with her anyway.  The swim is indoors and is only 350 meters, so maybe it won't kill me. I saw Khis Bullock when I was crossing the canal road on 98th.  She was going 16 miles.

You did a great job in the race today! I didn't know you were running with Duke, until I saw you coming to the finish and I said to myself "hey, that has GOT to be Nancy!" So, I ran over to cheer you in. Awesome run and way to keep Duke in great shape! Did he finally rest for a minute after that?

We got to the Riverton 1/2 marathon about 15 minutes before the race started and stayed in the car because it was cold outside. We got out about 5 minutes before the race started. I decided to wear shorts and a tank top because I get hot when I run. Waiting at the start of the race I almost froze to death. Eric and Alan came up behind me and said "Nancy are you crazy, don't you know with the wind chill factor it's only 20 degrees." At that point I decided I must be crazy. After the race started, it only took me about 5 minutes to warm up and after that I was glad I only had a tank top and shorts. We (Leslie and I) decided to bring Duke with us to the race and I'm very glad I did. He really helped me and he loved the run. I made it to the end in 2 hrs 12 minutes which is my slowest 1/2 Marathon yet, but it was a very hard course and I still took first place in my age group. I visited with a lot of people along the way and got a very good workout. Boy am I sore today.

Great job Nancy! I know what you mean by Duke being a good motivator, Lucy keeps me going a lot too. I'm just always nervous to bring her to races, because I don't want her leash to trip someone or have her get in someone's way as their trying to pass me etc, so I'd worry too much about that and not think about the race. She adjusted her seat and got new pedals with shoes that hook in so she was able to ride faster after she got adjusted to her new pedals. It took a couple of crashes before she figured out how to clip and unclip her shoes from the pedals. Did my arm weight exercises after work.  After dinner I swam laps.  I swam 21 laps all front crawl.  I made it 7 laps without a break, then I swam 4 laps, had a short break, did 4 more laps with a short break then did 6 more laps.  I watched other people swim and asked them questions, so my last 6 laps were a lot easier because I wasn't kicking my legs so hard..  Leslie still wasn't feeling well enough to swim.

Nice swim! I can't wait until I've got flexibility with kids to swim - so much easier on the joints than running, but I'm not very good at it!

Leslie and I went to our Triathlon class.  The swimming was just as hard as usual.  The spinning wasn't too bad but was still hard.  The running felt good.   We ran outside along the canal.   Leslie over did it in the swimming after being sick and almost puked.  She took it easy on the spinning, but she beat me in the run.  She also ran hard enough to beat the man in front of her.  I was quite tired after our class.  I'm still waiting for the day when I look forward to the swim.

I had an enjoyable time at the Ogden Marathon for the most part. Chrissy, Leslie, Angie, Becca and I drove to Ogden Friday afternoon. Jenny met us there. We stayed at the Hampton Inn. It was a very nice hotel. Bridget, my youngest daughter met us at our hotel with her baby Sicily. We had and fun time. We ate dinner at the Olive Garden and then went back to our hotel to relax. I really thought it was great to have 6 of my 7 daughers there. We got up at 4:30 and caught the bus to the Half-Marathon. When we got to the bonfire, the first person I saw was Mike, Peggy's husband. We (Chrissy, Leslie, Jenny and I) had a good time visiting with him. When the race started Leslie, Jenny and Chrissy and I stayed together for about 2 minutes. Then they were all ahead of me. I wasn't trying to set any records because I felt lucky to even be running the race. After the Riverton 1/2 Marathon I wasn't able to run for over 3 weeks. I was only able to do one long run of 10 miles before the race. I tried to keep a steady pace of 10 minute miles. When I got to the downhill part and knew it was going to be a long race when it didn't really feel like downhill to me. When I got to the 12 mile mark I knew I would make it, but the last mile was extra hard. I even had to walk once for about a minute. When I got to the finish line I guess I was pretty tired because two people hung onto to me as I was about to faint and took me to the medical tent. I felt okay after about 10 minutes. I wanted to get back to our hotel so we didn't miss our free breakfast. Chrissy finished in 1hr 44 mins, Leslie and Jenny finished in 1hr 54 minutes with Leslie coming in about 10 seconds after Jenny.  I finished in 2hrs 15 mins.   The rest of the day I really felt tired and a little bit sick.

Leslie and I did our first Triathlon today.  It was at the South County Pool.  We swam 300 meters and Leslie beat me by about 1 1/2 minutes.  Then we biked 11 miles.  I caught up with Leslie on the bike and passed her up.  I was doing very well passing people on the long ride up the hill past the prison and up the hill going South.  On the way back I was really wizzing until I got to the S curve.  Somehow I did the same thing as last time I went up that hill and I had to get off and walk.  I still did pretty well and passed up all the people that passed me while I was walking my bike up the S curve.  I was ready to start the run and someone told me I still had my bike helmet on so I took it off.  After I went about 1/4 a mile I realized I also had my bike gloves on so I took them off too.  The first part of the run my legs felt like knots, but after about a mile they loosened up.  Leslie passed my during the first mile.  Going up the big hill at the end I was very tired, but I kept running the whole way.  I made it to the end in 1 hour 31 minutes.  Leslie made it in 1 hr 27 minutes.  I was frist place in my age and about 75th overall.  Leslie was 10th place in her age group.  It was very fun.  What really surprised my was that during the swimming some of the people were actually just walking down the lane.

You did an AWESOME job Nancy!! Your first tri and you now have a title to defend! Leslie did great as well, I'm sure her age group is a little deeper. Glad you didn't have to 'walk' the swim :) I am so impressed! You are so inspiring!

Did my arm weight exercises.  Then I cleaned the house and had my sisters over for lunch.  Then I tended Bridget's baby Sicily for and hour.  Bridget, Glenn and their baby are staying with us for a couple of days.  It is so much fun to have Sicily here. (and Glenn and Bridget too). Tonight I met Leslie at Marv Jenson's to swim laps.  I was able to do 15 laps front crawl without a break.  Then after a short break I did 15 more  front crawl.  I'm really glad that swimming is getting easier.  I need to be able to swim  half a mile by September so we can do the Daybreak Triathlon

Met the group at Parkway Palisades but didn't go early because I knew I would be plenty tired with the regular workout.  My daughter Leslie came too so she took Duke half of the time.  That big hill is really a killer.  About our 3rd time up the big hill some big dog decided to come and play with Duke.  We kept stopping to chase it away but it kept coming back.  Finally when we were almost at the top of the second hill I got the ohter dog to go into someones yard and I closed the gate.  I was very tired after the workout.  After dinner Leslie and I rode our bikes.  We rode down 13th West to Bangerter.  This time I finally made it up the S curve without stopping.  We went about a mile past the S curve and Leslie chain got messed up.  We called Kent and he came and rescued us.  We ended up riding about 5 miles.

Met the bikers at the SJ Rec center and we rode our usual course. We had about 11 bikers. We seem to get new people each week. This week Amy brought her friend Jenna. Michelle Margetts came and I had a good visit with her. Tonight Leslie and I went to our Triathlon class at the South County Pool. The teacher didn't show up but one of the girls in the class that is a very good swimmer gave Leslie and I suggestions on how to improve our swimming. It is a lot harder swimming in the South County Pool because the lanes are 50 meters long. After the swim we started to ride our bikes, but Leslie's bike had a problem. When we got home Kent looked at her bike and the chain is bent so she will need to get a new one.

This morning I got up at 6 am.  I was going to run with my daughter Jenny, but her baby kept her up most of the night.  Leslie was still asleep too, so I Jogged by myself.  My daughter lives in Oakley Idaho.  I just started jogging down the dirt road until I got to the paved road, then I jogged down it until my watch said 30 minutes.  Then I turned around and came back.  Jenny's dog jogged along with me.  It was nice to have the company, but her dog thought it had to be two inches from me and I almost tripped several times.  Other than cows, sheep and dogs, I didn't see another person.  Not even one car passed by.  It was a good run I didn't try to kill myself and I felt fine when I got back.  After breakfast we went to the City of Rocks state park.  There were tons of giant rocks surrounded by some trees and sage brush.  There were lots of people with climbing gear climbing the huge rocks.  It was a lot of fun.  Then when we got back Leslie tended the kids and Kent and I took Jenny to lunch for her birthday.

So funny about breathing on the other side! I swam Mon as well and noticed that my L arm was pulling harder than my right because of always breathing to the right. I tried ONCE to breathe left and just about killed myself :) I think it is important to breathe both ways, especially when you're swimming a ton of laps, but I don't think I can learn to do it! It's always hard to teach an old dog new tricks :)

Leslie and I rode our bikes this morning since it was too rainy to ride after she got off work yesterday.  We rode the Riverton 1/2 marathon course, but we started from my house instead of Riverton Park.  When we got to the trail where it went under the road on 126th the water was over the trail so we had to carry our bikes over the rocks.  Leslie made it up the large hill on the trail and so did I.  When we got to Bangerter  the water was over the trail and we didn't want to get wet so we turned around.  Instead of carrying our bikes under the road on 126th we rode up the hill to the pool and out to 13th west and then home from there.  It was a good ride and Leslie didn't crash.

I ran the Riverton 10K today.  I just took it easy and did it in 1hr 3mins.  I thought that was faster than last year, but I looked it up and I was actually slower.  Thats okay though because I did my best.  I wasn't even dead at the end.  Leslie ran with Duke and she finished in 53 minutes.  We have all the family coming over at noon for a barbeque.

Leslie and I went to our triathlon class at the South County Pool.  We swam for 40 minutes.  It was hard, but it is getting a little easier.  Then we rode our bikes.  We went from the pool south and through a subdivision and then out at 134th south at Redwood Road.  Then we went north on Redwood to 98th south and then west to 27th and then south to 104th.  Then we realized that the road was close at 104th and turned around and rode back to 98th south and back down to Redwood.  Then we were going to ride south on Redwood back to 126th.  Just after I passed 114th my bike started thumping so I pulled over and noticed that I had a flat.  I walked my bike home and drove my car back to the pool.  Leslie and the rest of the people kept riding.  I brought Duke back with me for the run.  I held him for about a half a mile and then let him off his leash.  He caught up with Leslie and followed her the rest of the way.  The run was very hot and tiring.  When I got to the big hill up to the pool the only thing that kept me going was thinking about my 9 year old granddaughter that ran the mile in 101 degree heat.  I thought if she could do that I could keep going.  I did have to walk for about a minute up the hill but I ran the rest of the way.  After I got home I ate breakfast, showered and went to help with our Stake Float.  I helped for a couple of hours and then came home and ate lunch and took a nap.  When I woke up and came down to clean the kitchen, I found out that my son cleaned it while I was napping.  That sure made me happy.

I did my leg weight exercises and stomach exrcises.  Then I did pushups but was only able to do 50.  Then Chrissy took me to lunch for my Birthday.  We went to El Farol and it was deliscious.  This afternoon I swam at Marv Jenson's.  I swam 25 laps front crawl and wasn't even dead.  I could have gone more but my family was coming over to celebrate my Birthday.  It's hard to believe I could really be 60 years old.

Met the BBK's at Bingham for the early miles and brought Duke.  We were in front when we started out but Duke had to stop and wet on a tree so we ended up at the back.  After the early miles I took Duke home and came back to run on the track.  I ran 1 mile on the track and then we ran down to Rustic Roads and ran up and down and then back to the school.  I thought we were going to do it twice and since I was so far behind, when I got to the school I saw that everyone was starting again so I turned around and ran the course again.  I thought they would be passing me anytime but they didn't so I kept going and ran back to the school.  Some of the people were just getting back.   Some people in the group were staying for another 1/2 hour but since I came early I was tired so I went home.  I was very glad my foot didn't hurt.  After dinner Leslie and I rode our bikes down Redwood to 118th and then up to 40th west and north past the temple to 106th and then up to Day Break and around the lake and back.  It was a good ride but I wasn't too tired.

Met the bunners at the Rec Center.  Today Dean and I were the only ones that came.  We rode our usual course and had a good ride.  My daughter Jenny and 5 kids are coming to visit and we are having a potluck dinner and then going to Day Break to swim.

My daughter Jenny was here from Idaho so we met the group at the SJ soccer fields at 6 am.  My foot hurt the first 1/2 mile so I started walking and told Jenny to go ahead.  Kris Bullock was walking too because she didn't feel well.  After about 1 minute I started jogging again and my foot didn't hurt after that.  I was very tired and slow it took me 31 minutes.  On the second time around we went backwards and when we got to 2700 from Rustic Road we turned around.  It was a good run and I was very tired. My wonderful daughter Leslie was supposed to join us, but she slept in and ran later. She seems to have wake up issues in the morning. Perhaps she needs 50 alarm clocks that all go off at the same time.Duke has a sore foot so he stayed home and cried at the door. We hope his foot feels better soon.  After dinner Leslie and I rode our bikes.  We went down redwood to 118th and then started up towards 2700.  It was sooo windy we could hardly pedal.  We turned around just before 2700 and headed back home.  That was the most windy bike ride I have ever taken.

wow, you were brave to even attempt the wind. I was going to run, but decided it would be more like a TM run if I tried :) Nice workout, and I hope Duke gets feeling better too! Lucy came with me again this morning - I was nearly dragging her the last 1.5 or so...until another dog decided to join our 'pack' and followed me home, then Lucy seemed to have all the energy in the world. The dog just ran right in our backyard with Lucy, so since he only had a county license I called animal control to come pick him up. Unfortunately, he was a repeat offender. The officer said it would be $150 for the owners to get him out of hawk this time. Felt SOO bad. Anyway, long story - sorry!

I got up and went to the temple and then came home and did my arm weight exercises.  After I cleaned the kitchen I took  a short nap and went swimming.  The first 10 laps were hard, but after that I seemed to get in a rhythm and the  the next 20 seemed a lot easier.  Then I tended Ralphie's baby while she took her kids to the fair.  Then I went to Cub Scouts.

Leslie and I went to our Triathlon class a South County Pool.  When we got there the pool was closed and there was only two other people there.  We found out that Ryan our teacher was gone doing a triathlon.  Leslie and I got our bikes out and rode for 12 miles and then we drove home and ran 3 miles.  The biking was easy for me but the running is always hard.  Running 3 miles now feels like running running 10 used to feel

I did my leg weight exercises along with stomach and 70 pushups.  I cleaned and tended Sicily my youngest granddaughter(1 Yr old) and then took a short nap and went swimming.  I did 30 laps front crawl with a 1 minute break after lap 10 and after lap 20.  I discovered that when I breath out of  my mouth instead of my nose like a do when I run it gets me less out of breath and I am able to go farther.  After dinner we went to visit Bryan our son-in-law for his Birthday.

I met the BBK's at Bingham for our run.  We ran down 2200 west and up a street in the subdivision up to 2700, down 2700 to Canterwood, down Canterwood to 2200, down 2200 to Rustic Road, up rustic road to 2700, down 2700 to Bridal Oaks Drive and down Bridal Oaks drive to 2200 and back to Bingham.  It is really hard for me to understand why running gets me so tired now.  I had Duke pulling me and I still had to go very slow and I even had to stop and walk twice.  But I did keep going and I made it the 6 miles.  Most of the group did horseshoe circle and another circle to make it 6 1/2, but 6 was more than plenty for me.  After I got home my husband made me breakfast and then I showered and cleaned the house, then Leslie and I got connect passes and went down town.  We walked around the gateway, went to Clark Planetarium, to the Lion House Pantry for lunch and then to Red Butte Gardens.  The passes were only $20 and they were good for about 10 different activities including a $10 lunch at the Lion House Pantry.  The lunch was very good.  Tomorrow we will use the pass to go to Thanksgiving Point and the Living Planet Aquarium.  After we came home and had naps Leslie and I went on a bike ride.  We rode down Redwood to 118th and all the way up 118th almost to Highway 111.  Then we turned around and came back.  It was a good ride.

Wow almost 5 days with no exercise.  I arrived in Wichita, Kansas at 10pm on Thursday night.   Friday morning we got up at 6 am and started driving.  We drove through Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and Indiana and ended up in Louisville, Kentucky.  It was a long drive and we were glad to get there, but I had an enjoyable visit with my sister that I don't get to see very often.  When we got to our hotel we unpacked, swam and went to dinner and then we went to bed.  We slept in until 8 am and then went to breakfast in our hotel.  After breakfast We packed a lunch and went to Six Flags Kentucky.  We stayed for about 4 hours and had a fun time.  My sister got a little sick on one of the Roller Coasters.  I'm glad I decided not to ride that roller coaster.  Then we went back to the hotel and rested for an hour and got ready for my other sister's son's wedding reception.  It was in Milton, Kentucky which was about 1 hour away from where we were staying.  The place was a plantation house and it was very neat looking.  My sister and her husband and kids were very glad to see us.  We visited and ate for about 3 hours and then drove back to our hotel.  I watched the last 3 minutes of the BYU game.  Yeah Cougars!!!  Then I went to sleep.  Sunday morning we ate breakfast and started our long drive back to Wichita, Kansas.  I was glad I brought lots of stuff to read because it was a long boring drive.  We got back at about 8 pm and visited with my sisters kids and then went to bed.  Monday morning we slept until 7:30 and then just hung around visiting until it was time for me to go to the airport.  Kent picked me up at the airport and we went straight to Leslie's for a BBQ.  We had a nice time and it is sure good to be home.

I didn't do my weight exercises today because Leslie and I were going swimming.  We went to Black Ridge Reservoir to swim after dinner.  Just as we were getting out of the car Dean Bullock pulled up to say "hi."  He had just finished swimming.  He went 10 laps across the long way.  Wow what an Iron Man.  Leslie and I swam back and forth across two times which makes about 800 meters.  We are taking it easy this week since our Triathlon in on Saturday.  I sure hope my foot feels better by then.

Leslie and I went to our Triathlon this morning at Daybreak.   We got there at 6am and got our computer chips and set up our transition area.  Then we had to wait until 8 am for the buses to transport us to the East Lake pool for the swim.  It took about 45 minutes for us to do our swim after waiting for the Olympic swimmers to start and starting in the middle of the Sprint swimmers.  The swim was only 75 meters so it was very easy.  Then we ran 1 mile back to the transition area.  My foot hurt for about a quarter of a mile and then it felt better.  The bike ride was all up hill on the way up and down hill on the way back.  We rode from Daybreak up the Kennecott Copper Mine entrance.   I was pretty tired by the time I got to Kennecott, but the way back was a breeze.  The transition to the run was hard because my legs felt like rubber.  I had to walk for about 30 seconds.  I was pretty tired but I made it to the end.  Chrissy and her daugher Rachel along with Becca came and cheered us on and took pictures.  We left before the awards.  About an hour after I got home the doorbell rang and Dean Bullock was there.  He stayed for the awards so he picked up mine.  I won 1st in my age and also got a $200 gift certificate to Tio's mexican restaurant for being the oldest women in the race.  Dean won 1st in his age group and so did his two sons.  Leslie beat me by about 5 minutes.  I only saw her during the swim.  It was a lot of fun but I was a little disappointed that we were able to do our first open water swim.  I was very tired at the end, but I would have been way more tired if we had swam 800 meters in the lake.

Duke and I drove to Leslie's to run this morning.  I thought it was going to be cold so I wore my long lycra, t-shirt and gloves, ear band and arm warmers.  I had to take them all off by the time we were out of Leslie's neighborhood and the whole time I was wishing I was in shorts and a t-shirt.  We jogged on 40th west to 106th and then up to Daybreak Lake.  We jogged around the whole lake and then back over to 106th down to 40th west and north to Leslie's neighborhood.  Leslie held onto Duke until she biffed it just when we were getting to the Lake.  Then her hands and knees were skinned up so I held Duke the rest of the way.  I was a little more tired today than sometimes.  It might be because we have lots of relatives visiting.  Kent's sister, husband and son are here from Arizona are staying with us and also my daughter Bridget and her baby.  We had almost our whole family over last night for dinner.  I used my gift certificate to Tio's Mexican restaurant and got $127.00 of food.  Now I have $83 left to use.  Today we had everyone over again to celebrate Bridget's Birthday.  It's hard to believe that my baby is now 24 years old and pregnant with her second baby.  It's been a good day but I am tired.

You know coughing is abs strengtheing in disquise...jk! Sorry you have bronchitis. My hubby has it the last couple weeks, the antibiotics really helped. Hope you're feeling better real soon!

GET BETTER SOON!! That is NO fun to feel that way, especially after having to deal with the flu just a couple weeks ago!! Take the weekend off and enjoy :)

I didn't do any exercise today but I actually felt good enough to stay up for several hours before I had to lay down.  I think by Monday I should be able to exercise again.

Last night when we got back from visiting our grandkids in Tooele my foot started hurting.  It ached all night and most of the day at work.  I went to the Dr. after work and they did an xray.  It is not broken but they think I might have a stress fracture.  I guess I will just being doing weights and swimming for a couple of weeks.  After dinner tonight I did my arm weight exercises.

That's a bummer! Stress fracture is difficult to diagnose with X-ray. At any rate, it's wise to let it heal while Xtrain with swimming and strength training. GOOD LUCK! Hope it heals fast!

My foot is still hurting quite a bit but it might be slightly better than yesterday.  After Leslie got off work we swam for about 40 minutes.  We did front crawl the whole time.

My foot is feeling a lot better today and it has only hurt a few times.  After work I took a short nap and then went to help Christine.  She had her surgery a week ago and is still feeling quite weak.  I cleaned for about 2 hours and then came home.  After dinner I did my leg weight and stomach exercises and 70 mens pushups.  In a little while I will go visiting teaching.

Leslie and I went to ride our bikes this afternoon.  We started down 114th to redwood and we were riding past the Tack and Feed store and Leslie went to turn onto the sidewalk and crashed.  She didn't break anything and didn't get run over but she was scratched and bruised.  We walked our bikes back home and I used the eliptical and stationary bike.  I'm glad she didn't get hurt any worse.

Leslie and I went to our Triathlon class today.  We swam 40 minutes, biked 40 minutes and then Leslie had to leave so I did the Eliptical for 15 minutes.  It didn't hurt my foot so Tuesday I will try running again.  The class was hard but I wasn't as dead afterwards as sometimes.  Then I came home and cleaned the house.

Met the BBK's at Peggy's for the early miles.  It was so nice to run again.  I haven't run for two weeks.  I enjoyed visiting with Peggy, Mike, Michelle M and others.  I had to be to work at 6am so had to leave after the early miles.  This afternoon Leslie and I rode our bikes.  Boy was it cold.  It is so much colder riding bikes than running. We only rode for 30 minutes but my hands were frozen by the time we got back and I even wore gloves.

Met the BBK's at the park in daybreak.  We ran from the park back to 114th and up to daybreak lake.  We ran around daybreak lake and back to the park.  I had a nice time visiting Mike on the way up and then Eric on the way around.  Eric, Sue, Debbie and I lost the rest of the group on one of the turns when we went up instead of down.  We kept running and ran towards the Rio Tinto building and then stopped to decide where to go.  About then Scott came running up behind us.  He had lost he group also.  I went back the other direction with Scott and we hooked up Nancy and Melanie and then ran under 114th and back to the park.  I really had an enjoyable run.  I love running with the group.  Duke had a great time too.  When I got home I ate breakfast and got the turkey on to cook.  We had 3 of our married daughters and son-in-laws and grandkids over along with the 3 single kids and Kent and I.  We had 20 people total and had a very nice dinner and visit.  Now 2 of my daughters and I are going to see the new Twilight show.

Leslie, Duke and I ran our South County Pool 6 miles course.  Leslie took Duke and we all went very slow.  My foot only hurt a tiny bit.

I did my leg weight and stomach exercises along with my 70 mens pushups.  Then I cleaned the house and then Leslie and I rode our bikes.  We rode down redwood to 118th and then west to 40th west and then north past the temple.  Then we stopped at Leslie's and took off some of our warm stuff and headed back the same way.  It was a good ride.

Met the BBK's at the parkway trail on 98th.  Boy was it cold.  There were only 4 of us for the early miles, me Dean, Kris and Walter.  We power walked up the hill to 98th and then ran to 10th west and all the way to 106th and then down 106th past Mulligans to the parkway trail and back.  I had to keep blowing on my hands to unthaw them.  After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises.

Leslie was sick so I went to our Triathlon class alone.  Since I donated blood the night before I decided to just do the swim part.  I was very tired during the swim but I took it very easy.  Then I came home and cleaned and then went to the Oquirh Mountain Temple.  Boy was it crowded.  I was suppose to be on the 11am session but it didn't start until at least 11:30.  I was meeting my sister at 1pm at the Olive Garden in South Jordan and by the time I got there it was 1:30 and she already had her food.

Met the BBK's at Bingham for the early miles.  It was snowy and freezing cold. There were only 4 of us there, me, Michelle M, Cheris and Lisa.  We jogged around through the neighborhood across from the school and out to Redwood.  Redwood was even more slippery so we turned around and jogged back through the neighborhood, back to Bingham through their parking lot, out to 2200 to Bonanza and then turned around and came back.  My hands were frozen even though I had two pair of gloves on and I decided that it was too wet and slippery so I left after the early miles.  Mike and Nancy R were the only ones that came for the later miles.

Saturday morning I took Duke and ran up to Leslie's.  We didn't leave until about 7:20 am.  Leslie went with Christine and family to the Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert last night and didn't get home until almost midnight so she wanted to sleep in.  I ran down redwood road to 106th and then east on 106th to 40th west.  When I got to 40th west I called Leslie and told her I would be there in a few minutes.  I had to run slow along 40th west because it was a little wet and slippery.  When I got to Leslie's street I had to walk because it was very wet and slippery.  Leslie didn't feel like jogging so she gave me a ride home and then came to our ward Christmas party.  It was a breakfast and was very good but I tried not to eat very much because I was taking my daughter Christine to Olive Garden for her Birthday.  At Olive Garden I tried not to eat too much because I was going with Leslie Saturday night to Madelines for her company Christmas party.  Friday night I went to Texas Roadhouse for my husbands company Christmas party.  With all this eating I should be jogging 10 miles a day.

I met the BBK's at the church on 124th off 13th West for the early miles.  It wasn't as cold as last week and most of the snow was melted.  We ran down the hill to the parkway trail and started down the trail.  At little way down the trail they were doing work so we turned around and got off the trail in the neighborhood and jogged back to the church and out to 13th west.  I was feeling even more tire than usual probably because I donated blood 2 weeks ago.  After the early miles we met the group and ran down tithing hill to the trail again and then through the parking lot to the other subdivision and up towards the roller coaster hills.  Aaron, Jeff and I had to leave early so we turned around after the first hill and headed back.    After work and a short nap I did my leg weight exercises along with stomach exercises and 70 mens pushups.

Met the BBK's at the church off 106th and 40th west for the early miles.  Mike, Cheris, Michelle and I were the only ones there for the early miles.  I had a nice visit with them but was tired by the time we went the 3 miles.  When the rest of the group came we ran south on 40th west.  We were doing a 3 mile out and back but I could only do 1 1/2.  I was hoping to hit the turn around before the big hill since I was already tired but no such luck.  The turn around was at the bottom of the hill almost to 114th.  I turned around and headed back up the big hill.  I was very tired but made it to the top without walking. I was sure glad to have Duke pulling me along.  After work I did my arm weight exercises.

Met the BBK's at Parkway Palisades for the early miles.  My daughter Jenny and her husband and 5 kids are here visiting for Christmas so she came with me.  We ran up past the cemetary to 106th south and then down to13th west.  On 13th west we ran back to Parkway Palisades and then down to the park.  The second half hour we did the two mile loop and then Jenny and I had to leave so I could be to work at 7.  We had our entire family except for Bridget, Glenn and Sicily at our family Christmas party Monday night.  We had a very nice time but it was quite noisy and crazy with that many people.  I was glad Jenny could run with me.  I used to run with her all the time before she moved to Idaho.

I didn't go to the early miles but Leslie and I went to Cheris's house at 7am for the main workout.  It was very cold and a little slippery.  I was surprised that so many people came.  My daughter Jenny decided it was too cold for her so she stayed at my house and used the stationary bike.  We ran all around the subdivisions came out on 114th and then back again.  Leslie and had to head back early because she invited her sisters and kids over for Crepes at 8:30 and we had to get back to make them.  It was a nice run and good to see everyone especially Rachel who hasn't been able to come lately.
