Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

Personal:

I'm married, have 8 kids (7 daughters and one son) and 28 grandkids. I have a great supportive husband.  The grandsons and grand daughters are now tied at 14.  I have 2 grand daughters married and one going on a mission to Australia.

I was just getting ready for the BBK run when Leslie called and said it was cancelled because of the cold.  Duke and I went out the door and ran 2.5 miles.  It was a little cold for the first half mile but after that it was just right.

I went to run group a little bit early.  Mike and Peggy were there.  I ran up to 1300 and back twice and then Michelle came.  We ran to Tithing Hill and then back to 1300 and then the rest of the group came.  We ran on the street that goes south on Tithing Hill and then down to the trail.  We ran along the trail and came out in a neighborhood.  The we headed back to the church.  Duke and I ran up the big hill and did not see the others so we ran out to 1300 and then north past the church and then west up to the other church and back.  When we got back the others were just coming out of the Tithing hill subdivision.  After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises.

I ran 2.8 with Duke this morning before work.  I had to be to work at 6am so could not meet my group.  After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups.

I ran 2.8 miles with Duke and then I dropped him off at home and ran another 1.2 miles.  My husband filmed Duke howling at the window while I was gone.  I don't want to take him more than 3 miles because it will make his leg sore.

I met the group at the church up the street from my house.  I was a little bit early so I ran from the church west to the light on 3600 and then turned around and ran back past the church to the light on 3200 and then back to the church.  When I got to the church Michelle was coming down the sidewalk.  No one else was there yet so we turned around and ran west to the other end of the parking lot and ran through the parking lot.  When we got the our cars we noticed that two other people had gotten there but there had already headed out.  We ran through the subdivision and I told Michelle to go ahead and catch the others.  I ran through the subdivision to 3200 and then north to 106th.  When I got to 106th Michelle and the other two runners were heading back on 3200.  When I got to 106th I turned around and headed back.  When I got back to the car my phone said I had run 3.95 miles.  I did not bring Duke today because he had a sore leg. After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises.

Duke and I met the group at the SJ Soccer fields.  I did the 5k course going south and they did it going north.  We met in the middle.  When we got back they were going one more time but I had to get to work.  After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises and pushups.

Duke and I met the group at the church on 102nd and 40th west.  We ran north on 40th west to106th and then back and then we ran east on 102nd and then back.  Then the rest of the group came and we ran south on 40th west.  They all went to 114th but I turned around at the top of the hill by the temple because I had to be to work at 7.  After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises.

I had to be to work at 6am so Duke and I ran at 5am.  We ran west to redwood and then south past the light on 123rd.  I thought I had gone far enough to make it 3 miles but my phone said 2.86 so that will have to do for today.  After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups.

Duke and I ran from my house out to redwood and then south to 123rd and then we turned around and headed back.  I dropped Duke off and then went east on 114th to 13th west and then south to the church.  Then I turned around and headed back.  I went 5.15 which is the most I have gone in about a year.  I want to do a 10k this year so I am working back up to 6.  Duke can only go 3 because his leg gets sore if he goes any more.  He was sad when I went without him and stood at the window howling.  My husband took a video of him howling.

It was nice enough weather that I rode my bike outside.  I rode my usual 6 mile course.  I sure love riding outside better than using the spin bike.

I met the group at Hobby Lobby in the District.  I was about 10 minutes early so I ran around the parking lot with Michelle, Peggy and Mike.  When the others got her we ran through the subdivision across from the district and then out across 118th and through that subdivision.  Then I had to turn around and head back so I could be to work at 7.  It  was a good run.

I will not be able to go to run group for a month because I have to be to work at 6am.  I ran with Duke and we did our course down to redwood and then south almost to 126th and back.  My daughter Leslie had her triplets today and they are all doing well.  They will have to stay in the hospital 2-6 weeks.   After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups.  After dinner we went to the hospital to see Leslie and the triplets.  They are so cute and small.  She had 2 girls and a boy.

Since I haven't been able to meet with the group during the week I decided to meet them today even though they were going 12 and I only wanted to go 4 with them.  We met at the district.  I told them about Leslie's triplets and showed them pictures on my phone.  We ran through the district out to 118th and then up to Country Crossing.  By then they were all out of sight so I just ran to 114th and then up to daybreak.  Then I turned around and headed back.  When I got home I picked up Duke and then ran another 2.5 miles.  It was a good run.

I met the group at the park by Lifetime Fitness.  We ran south on the Parkway trail.  I started off before the group because Duke and I were only going 3 miles.  I love running with Duke but he sure likes to stop, sniff an pee alot.  We ran south for 22 minutes and then turned around and headed back.  After I got home I filled my water bottle again and headed over to my daughter Christine's house to run with her. Duke can only go 3 miles or he gets a sore let.  I had a nice visit while we ran.  I made it 3.5 with Duke and 3.5 with Christine.  That is the most I have gone in over a year.

I went to the temple this morning and then I came home and cleaned the house.  Then I rode my bike to Christine's house and then we rode bikes and then I rode back home.  It is sure nice to have a day off of work.  I really enjoyed the bike ride.  I had to go a little bit slower for my daughter than I do when I ride alone, but it was sure nice to have someone to ride with.

The triplets were born February 3rd and they were due March 19th. We were all amazed at how well they did and how soon they were able to come home.

I did not have to work today because I spent the night at Leslie's helping with triplets.  I went to the 8:30 run group with Duke and ran 3.42 miles.  I would have run more but I had to be back to Leslie's at 9:30 to feed babies.  It was a fun run and it was good to see people from our group.

I met the group at Riverton Park.  They were doing the Riverton Half Marathon Course.  I started out with them running north on 13th west.  I turned at tithing hill and was going to meet them on the trail.  They kept going on 13th west to lampton.  I ran past the condos on tithing hill and then down the hill to the parkway trail.  Then I ran along the trail.  I thought I would see the group but I could not remember where they came down to the trail.  I ran past a couple of places where it went up into the subdivision but I was not sure which one they would be coming down so I kept going until the end of the trail and then I turned around and headed back.  By then I realized I had missed them.  I ran back the same way I came and got back to the car.  It took me an hour and my phone said I had only gone 3.5 miles.  When I got home I took duke on a 2 mile run.  He was very excited and pulled very fast the first mile.

I stayed over night at Leslie's and took care of the triplets in the night.  This morning I came home and ran 1 mile with Duke and then I rode my bike to Christine's and we went on a 16 mile bike ride.  It was good exercise.  Next Saturday Christine and I are doing the Goldilocks bike ride.  We are planning on riding 60 miles so we hope it is nice weather and not windy.

Christine and I did the Goldilocks bike ride.  We started out in the front.  Christine felt quite tired so we slowed down.  When we got onto the Mountain View Corridor it started to sprinkle.  After a mile it started pouring.  It was raining so hard I had a hard time seeing where I was going.  We were never so glad to get to the rest stop.  we were soaked and frozen.  We ate snacks under the pavillion and waited to see if it would stop raining.  It did not stop so I called my husband to come and pick us up.  It was disappointing but I was sure glad to get home and have a hot bath.

I've had a cold and felt sick for a few days so the only exercise I've gotten in 3 days is a 1 mile walk with Duke.  I really had a hard time convincing Duke that we were walking not running.

Ben and I ran the VOA 5K.  It was on the parkway trail at about 9th south.  It was a fun race.  I ran slow and steady like always.  The race did not start until 8:30 so I was a little bit hot but I still made it.  Ben finished 10 minutes ahead of me.  This was his first 5K and he must have liked it because he already wants to do another.

I went to my sister's get-away at Powder Mountain.  My sister Nina and I ran-walked up and down the hills around the condo.  She is 12 years younger than me so she was faster on the up hill but I was faster on the down hill.  We got a good workout and the view was beautiful.

We went to Fish Lake to visit my friend.  We walked the loop around their cabins.  It was up and down hills so we got  workout.

My son and I went on a 4 mile hike with our friends at Fish Lake.  It was up and down the mountain.  We got a good workout and the scenery was beautiful.  We saw deer, a wood pecker, squirrel, cranes, a beaver house, butterflies, flowers and we heard a Moose or Elk running through the trees.

My son Ben and daughter Jenny ran the Riverton 5K while two of my other daughters and my grand daughter ran the Riverton 10K.  It was hot but we all made it to the end.  Ben and I were both 3rd in our age groups.  Then at noon we had a BBQ at my house for our whole family.  All of my kids, son-in-laws and grand kids came up for the weekend for Leslie's triplets baby blessings.  It was a good day.

I slept at my daughter Leslie's house so I could take care of the triplets during the night.   This morning she pushed a double jogger and I pushed the single jogger.  We started out running but her knee was still sore from the Riverton 10K so we just walked 2 miles and then I came home and ran a mile with Duke.

I met the group at the SJ library.  We ran through the subdivison and out to 13th west.  They all ran through the subdivisons and I ran along 13th west and met them at Michelle's street as they were coming out.  Then then went through another subdivision and went to the SJ Cemetary.  I turned around and went north along 13th west to 106th south and then turned east.  I met them as they were coming out of cemetary road.  We then went through the subdivision and they headed south and I turned on the road that leads to the library and headed home.  Today was the last day of cleaning lockers so I will be off until August 17th.  I am excited to have a break.

I ran a half a mile with Duke before I went to run group.  For our group we met at Rivrton High.  We did our 2 mile loop through the neighborhood and then I ran 2 miles on the track.  Then we did another short run in the neighborhood.  This is the farthest I've run in about 6 months.

I rode my bike on my 6 mile route.  I ride from my house east to the River Bottom and then then turn south, ride up the hill and then ride through Lampton to Sir Mingo and then out to 13th west and south to 126th then west to Redwood and north to 114th.  It takes me about 23 minutes because I ride as fast as I can.  I get a good workout.

I slept at Leslie's to take care of the triplets in the night.  In the morning after we fed them Christine came over and we put them in the strollers and went running with them.  Christine pushed the double stroller, Leslie pushed the singele stroller and I just ran.  I was able to stay up with them since they were pushing strollers.  After about 1.5 miles we had to walk the rest of the way because Leslie's knee started to hurt a little bit.  It has been hurting since the Riverton 10K so she has been taking it easy.

My son Ben and I ran the SoJo 5K.  The course was a little different from the last time I ran it but it still had plenty of hills.  I ran slow and steady and had to walk a couple of times.  I ran fast on the down hills.  I won 1st in my age group but there were only two others besides me in my age group.  My son was 6th in his age group.  He ran it in 29 minutes.

I went to our Annual Christmas Eve run and breakfast at Cheris's house.  It was a little bit chilly going north but by the time I turned back I was warm.  Duke and I started off before the others but they caught up fast.  They were going 6 and I was only going 3.  When I got back to Cheris's house I took Duke home and then came back for the breakfast.  The breakfast was deliscious and it was fun to visit with everyone.  I brought my quilt that my daughter Christine made me for Christmas.  She took my running shirts and made me a very nice quilt.  Everyone liked it.
