Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

Personal:

I'm married, have 8 kids (7 daughters and one son) and 28 grandkids. I have a great supportive husband.  The grandsons and grand daughters are now tied at 14.  I have 2 grand daughters married and one going on a mission to Australia.

I used the spin bike for 30 minutes.  After I cleaned the house I went with two of my daughters up to visit another daughter that lives in Peoa.  Leslie bought us all Cafe Rio.  We had a good lunch and visit.

I met the group at the church on tithing hill.  I was a minute late and so was Michelle so we ran down tithing hill and ran along the trail.  We didn't see the others so we ran back up the hill to the big hill going north and headed down.  When we got to the bottom we saw the others coming so we turned around and went back up the big hill and then back to the trail.  It was a good run.

I met the group at the church on tithing hill.  I was the only one there for the early miles so I did the usual route through the subdivision.  When I got back the others were already gone so I headed for the big hill on Lampton.  I went down the hill and at the bottom I saw 3 runners coming my way.  I thought they were from the group but they weren't.  I said Hi and kept going.  When I was almost ready to turn around I saw more runners coming my way.  It was my group so when they got almost to me I turned around.  They said Hi and kept going.  When I got back to the big hill they were coming down.  I went up the hill and said goodbye so I could get to work.  After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups.

I went to the early miles for my group.  I was the only one there.  It was a little slippery so I put my spikes on my shoes.  They came off after a couple of steps.  I carried them and tried to run but it was too slippery so I went home and went to work.  After work I used the elliptical for 30 minutes.

I met the group for the early miles at the church on tithing hill.  I was the only one there so I did our usual 3 mile loop.  Then when I got back we the others were there and we ran town titihing hill and ran along the trail.  Then we turned around and they kept going south and I headed back up Tithing Hill and headed home.

I met the group at Riverton High school.  I was the only one for the early miles so I did the usual 2 mile loop through the subdivision and then ran past the school to the next street and ran up the street to the seminary and then through the parking lot.  The others were there and we did the same loop except they kept going and it ran up the street past the seminary and then ran to 3200 and turned around and headed back to the school so I could go to work.

The group was meeting at Riverton Park but I just ran from my house around the Riverton Block before work.  After work I got thing ready for my daughters wedding reception.  My 4th oldest daughter and 7th daughter to be married got married on Friday at the Oquirrh Mountain temple but she had her reception Thursday night at Noah's.  She wanted a carnival wedding and since she and her fiance paid for most of it they got what they wanted.  They had carnival games, a face painter a baloon artist, cotton candy, popcorn and hot dogs.  They had a ferris wheel wedding cake.  Everyone thought it was the coolest reception ever.

I didn't do any exercise at all today.  My daugter Leslie was married in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple to her best friend Bryan and they we had the wedding dinner at the Tuscany.  It was a very nice day.

My son Ben came with me to my running group.  Rachel was the only other person there.  We did the loop through the subdivision and Ben turned around at the .5 mile mark and Rachel and I kept going.  We got back to the school and then started on another loop.  I turned around at the .5 mile mark.  Ben was at the car when I got back.  He did very good for his first run.  After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups.

I met the group at the park across from Lifetime Fitness.  I was the only one there for the early miles so I ran south to 114th and back twice.  When the others got there we ran to the big hill on Parkway Palisades and ran up and down.  I ran up and down 3 times which is 3 miles.

I got to the run at 5am so I did the 3 mile course.  Then when the others got there they were doing the same course.  I ran south with them but when they turned in the subdivision I kept going to 114th and then turned around and headed back.  I really needed the run today.

Met the group at the church by the Jordan River Temple.  I was the only one there for the early miles.  I ran south to 106th and then west to redwood and then back past the temple.  Then I ran north to 98th and then turned west and ran to Peggy's street.  Then I turned around and headed back to the temple and kept going south to Y worry lane and then turned around and headed back again.  When I got back Peggy just got there and we ran around the parking lot while we waited for the others to get there.  When the others got there we ran south to 106th and then east.  I turned north on 10th west and ran throught he subdivision and then headed back so I could get to work.  It was a good run.

The group met at Bingham High and I was the only one there for the early miles.  I ran out to 2200 and then north to 98th and then west to 2700 and then turned around and headed back to Bingham.  When the others got there we did the loop through templeview and bonanza and then the subdivision east of bonanza and then to the back parking lot of Bingham.  Then they were doing the same course and second time but I only had time to do the loop thourgh templeview.

Met the group at the Golds Gym express.  I was the only one there for the early miles so I ran west to 40th west and then south to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple and then back.  When the others got there I did the same route again and then had to leave to get ready for work.

Met the group at Riverton High for the early miles.  I was the only one there for the early miles so I ran the loop through the subdivision.  When the others got there we headed back through the subdivision but instead of doing the loop we turned north on 3200.  I ran to almost 114th and then turned around and headed back so I could get to work by 7am.

I met the group at the church on 114th and 3400 west.  I was the only one for early miles so I ran east on 114th to 2200 and then back past the church and then back and forth until the others got there.  For our regular miles we ran through the subdivision and out to 3200.  Then ran through the subdivision but I kept going north to 106th and then turned around and headed back.

I did not get up early enough for the early miles with the group but I did get there in time to run 1 mile.  Peggy was there and was already gone but I saw her turn into the templeview subdivision so I followed and caught up with her.  We ran through the subdivision and back to Bingham.  She hurt foot the day before so she decided to leave when we got back to Bingham.  When the others got there we ran to 2200 and then south to Canterwood.  Then we ran west to 2700 and then north to rustic roads.  By the time I got to rustic roads and headed down the others were headed back up.  After I got back down to 2200 I headed back to Bingham and home to get ready for work.  After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups.

I did my usual 5 miles with RUNGR8 and then I came home and cleaned up and did some house work.  Then I rode my bike to Bluffdale to follow two of my daughters that were running the Riverton Half Marathon.  I spotted one daughter just before the S curve and she said Leslie was a little farthur back.  I rode clear to Bluffdale and did not see her.  I called her and she said she had just passed mile 11.  I rode back the other direciton and found her and then went ahead to watch Christine finish.  She just finished after I got there so I rode back and rode in with Leslie.  Then I rode home and took my other daughter to lunch for her Birthday.

I rode my bike from my house east to 13th west and then south to 144th.  Then I went west to 3600 and then north to 118th and east to redwood and back home on redwood.  It was a good ride.  I reall need to start going on longer bike rides to I can get ready for the Goldilocks ride.  I plan on riding 100.

I met the group at the SJ Soccer fields.  I was the only one there for the early miles.  I ran the 5K course and then I ran back and forth past the soccer fields for another 10 minutes. When the others got there we did a 1 mile warm up and then I did another 1/2 mile run and then went home.  After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises.

After work and a short nap I rode my bike on a long ride.  I went from my house on 114th east to 13th west and then south to 144th and then west to 3600 and then north to 126th, then west to the Mountain View Corridor and then north to 90th south.  Then I went east to 4800 west and then south to Sky Drive and then followed 98th to redwood and then back to 114th.  It was a good ride and I was just a little bit tired at the end.

I was off work today so I rode my bike on a long ride.  I rode from my house to 13th west and then south to 126th, north to the frontage road past Ikea and the south past Bangerter and around the prison to bluffdale.  Then I went west to redwood and then south to camp williams.  Then I headed back and when I got to 144th I turned west and went to 27th west and turned north and then left by North Star Academy and then when I got to 3600 west I went north to 126th and then west to Mountain View Corridor and thern north to 118th and then back to redwood and home.  It was a nice ride and I got a good workout.

I met the group at Bingham for the early miles.  Michelle and Cheris were there.  We ran out to 2200 and then north.  They ran through Bonanza  and I kept going north.  I ran down the other end to Bonanza and they met me and I turned around and then we went across the street and ran through that subdivision.  Then we went back to Bingham and met the others.  We too the same route and went through the subdivision and the east side and then we went north to River Oaks and then when I got to 2700 I turned around and headed back.  When I got back my car key had fallen off the key chain so I had to call my husband to rescue me.  After work and my dentist appointment my husband and I drove back over to Bingham and retraced my course looking for the key.  It was and automatic and expensive key so we were very glad when we found it.

I went on a nice little easy 10 mile bike ride.(or so I thought)  I rode from my house to 13th west and then south.  I was whipping right along when a guy passed my like I was standing still.  I was still going at a pretty good clip and thinking this was very easy.  Then I got to redwood and turned north.  The wind was blowing hard the whole rest of the way home and I felt like a was riding up a big hill.  Anyway I made it and was glad I was only going 10.

I did my 22 mile bike ride past IKEA and the prison.  When I rode west into Bluffdale just after the stop sign under the bridge, I had to wait in a line of cars for about 5 minutes and then had to ride on the opposite side on a very bumpy road because they were repaving.  I won't be going that way any time soon.

Met the group at the church on Sky Drive.  I was the only one for the early miles.  I ran south on the road in the back of the church to 102nd south and then east to 40th west and then back to the church.  When the others got there we ran west to the golf course and ran up the golf course road.  Then we ran back down and followed Sky Drive down the big hill.  Then I had to turn around and head home.  When I got home I took Duke on a very short run and then got ready for work.  After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups.

Met the group at Riverton High.  I only wanted to go 2 miles because I got new shoes and wanted to break them in so I brought my dog Duke with me.  He used to be able to run 13 miles but he hurt his leg a few years ago and can only run 2 miles at a time.  He sure loves to run.

I did the Goldilocks Bike ride on Saturday.  We started out at Daybreak and rode west to Herriman High.  Then we went south and rode past Butterfield Park and then out to the Mountain View Corridor.  Then we headed North to the New Bingham Highway.  Then we went east to 4800 west and turnded south and stopped at the first rest stop.  This part was 18 miles and I was already feeling a little tired so I was glad to rest and eat snacks.  Then I took off and we headed east and followed 9800 all the way to 13th west.  On 13th west we went south to Bluffdale, rode past redwood going west to 2200 west and then turned north.  At this point there was a steady hill and I was getting tired and thinking I don't know if I can make 100.  I kept pushing along and we rode south past Camp Williams and past the Lehi Crossroads to a road than turned west.  We followed this road west to a park in Eagle Mountain.  I was very tired and glad to rest and have a snack.  Then we headed west up a large hill, (luckily for every up hill there is a downhill) and then turned north until we got to the road that leads to Cedar Fort.  We past the turn around for the 60 miles and I thought I should at least try to make 80.  The road to Cedar Fort was not too bad.  There were some steady up and down hills.  In Cedar Fort I got to the turn around for the 80 miles and I figured if I got this far I might as well make 100.  I rode about 10 miles past Cedar Fort to a small town called Fairvew.  I stopped to rest and eat snacks.  Then I headed back.  On the way back the wind started to blow like crazy and the ride was very hard.  It seemed like up hill the whole rest of the way.  We ate lunch in a park in Eagle Mountain and then rode back out to Redwood.  The ride north to Camp Williams was very windy and slow.  It felt like I was going up hill the whole way.  When I got to the base of the long hill on the south side of Camp Williams there were a few people walking their bikes up.  I geared down all the way and pushed on.  It was the hardest hill I have ever ridden up.  I was never so happy to get to the top in my life.  Now I only had 12 miles to go.  I rode north to the Porter Rockwell road and then turned west.  There was a slow and steady hill there but not as bad as Camp Williams.  I made it to the top and onto the Mountain View Corridor.  Now there was only 7 miles to go.  I pushed on to DayBreak road.  When I turned east it was downhill and I was so glad.  I made it to the end.  I think this might be my last 100 mile bike.  I am glad I did it.

My daughter and I did the Triathamom Triathlon this morning at the South County Pool.  On the first lap of the swim my ankle timer came off.   I had to stop and search for it. Luckily someone behind me found it and handed it to me.  I tried to put it on but couldn't because I was in deep water so I swam the rest of the race with it in my hand.  I didn't do as well on the swim as I would have liked to but I went fast on my bike.  I caught up with my daughtere and beat her by 10 minutes.  She caught up with me on the run and beat me by 10 minutes.  It was fun and I think I got a lot of exercise.

My daughter from Vernal was here visiting so she and my grand daughter came with me to the RUNGR8 run.  Two of my other daughters met us there.  My daughter from Vernal was a little faster than me but I had more endurance so each time she stopped to walk I caught up.  I beat her at the end by about 20 feet.  My granddaughter ran ahead and then turned around and came back every block.  She could have beaten all of us by a mile.  It was a good run.  Later that day we had our family Halloween Party at my daugher Leslie's house.  It was a lot of fun.  All the kids and grandkids were there.

My son Ben  and I went to San Diego for Fall break.  We walked from our Hotel in La Jolla down to the cove and back.  After we snorkeled we cleaned up and drove to Old Town San Diego and walked around.  Then we went to Balboa Park and walked around.  We had a lot of fun and got a lot of exercise.

Duke and I went to the group run.  We met at the SJ Library.  We ran south to the road that turns east and then ran east to 13th west and then south.  We then turned east at Park way Palisades and ran east and then north.  After I ran through the subdivision I ran back out to 13th west and then back to the library. After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups.

I met the group at the park across from Lifetime Fitness.  I was a few minutes early so Duke and I ran from the park to Parkway Palisades and back twice.  When the others got there we ran on the parkway trail.  They were going 6 but I only had time for 3.  It was good to run with the group again.  I work at 6am every Thursday so I cannot go then and sometime I have to work at 6 on Tuesdays.  After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises.

snow! it's cold enough to snow here but i don't think i'll be seeing any significant snowfall until i come back to utah. i'm visiting at the end of december to meet jessica's baby. he's almost ready to arrive!

Met the group at the church on 102nd and 40th west for the Thanksgiving run.  We ran south on 40th to 114th and then the group went west and I turned around.  Duke and I ran north past 102nd to 98th and just before we got to 98th the group ran east on 98th across 40th west.  Duke and I turned around on 98th and headed south back to the church on 102nd.  When we got to the church the group was coming west on 102nd.  I put Duke in the car and visited with everyone before I came home.  We had almost all of our kids, son-in-laws and grandkids over for Thanksgiving dinner.  It was a lot of fun and a delicious dinner.

Went with Duke to the RUNGR8 run.  Christine ran with us on the run.  Duke runs faster and stops less when Christine runs with us.  We did the run in 37 minutes which is the fastest I've done it since the last time Christine ran with us.  It was a good run.

I met the group at Riverton High School.  We ran through the subdivision to 3200 and then north.  The group kept going past 118th but I turned west and ran until my watch said 20 minutes and then turned around and headed back.  I had to be to work at 7am.  After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups.

Duke and I did the RUNGR8 3 mile run.  Christine was there with Buddy her dog so we made sure she started out before us.  Duke and Buddy would have been all over each other.  I got a new phone and it had a run tracker on it.  It was nice to see how far I was running and how fast.  The run ended up being 3.2 miles and I did it in 12 minute miles.  IT was a good run.

I've seen goats, skunks, deer, dogs and foxes on my run but today I saw something I have never seen.  Duke and I ran down 114th to 1300 west and then south to the church.  On the way back we were almost to 114th and I saw an animal cross the road in front of us.  I tried to slow Duke down because I thought it was a skunk.  As we got closer I thought maybe it was a porcupine but then I saw it's tail and it was a beaver.  Duke got excited for a minute but the beaver ran into the neighbors bushes.  Anyway it was a good run.

I ran 3.3 miles with Duke and then got ready for my family Christmas Party.  Most of our kids, grand kids and son-in-laws came for our Breakfast Christmas Party.  Most were in town for my grand daughters wedding.  It was a very nice wedding.  The party was a lot of fun.

Duke and I met the group at Bingham High.  It was very rainy but there were still 6 other people there.  We ran north on 2200 to Miner Drive and then around the subdivision and back out to 2200.  Then we ran north to oak drive and then west to 2700.  Then we went south to 104th.  I turned and went home and the group kept going.  I ran east to Bingham and then home.  I was very soaked but it was a good run.

We had out annual BBK Christmas Eve run and breakfast.  Duke had a sore leg so I picked up my daughter Christine and we went to the run.  There were about 15 people at the run.  We started at Cheris's house and ran out to 3600 south until the road turned east.  Then we ran to 3200 west and turned south again.  The group was way ahead but my daughter kept comming back and then going ahead.  When my watch hit 30 minutes I turned around and headed back.  Most of the group passed me on the way back.  The breakfast was good and we had a fun time.

I dressed up warm and Duke and I ran from our house out to  redwood and then south to 123rd and back.  The sidewalks were not too slippery but I ran in the bike lane when the sidewalks were slippery.  It was a good run.

I used the elliptical for 30 minutes and then did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with pushups.  For New Years Eve we always take our kids that are not married to dinner.  This year our son Ben is the only one not married.  Our daughter Leslie that is expecting triplets was so tired of just laying around that she and her husband came with us.  We really had fun.  Leslie is getting so big that it is very hard for her to move.  The doctor thinks she can make it to the first week in February.
