Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

Personal:

I'm married, have 8 kids (7 daughters and one son) and 28 grandkids. I have a great supportive husband.  The grandsons and grand daughters are now tied at 14.  I have 2 grand daughters married and one going on a mission to Australia.

Duke and I ran 3 miles this morning before I had to be to work at 6am.  I wore my spikes on my shoes and I didn't slip once.  The first mile was cold but I warmed up after that.

Leslie and I met the group at Chase Bank on 114th for the run.  Todd Douglas was the only other person that came.  He decided to run later since it was so cold and Leslie and I decided to go back home and get Duke and then we just ran 3 miles.  It was very, very cold and I did not warm up like I usually do when I run.  We later read an email saying it was too cold for the group run and everyone should go to the rec center.

Duke and I ran outside for the first time this week.  It was 20 degrees but it wasn't windy.  The ground was snowy so I put my spikes on my shoes.  It was so nice to run outside. We did our usual 3 mile route.  Then I came home and cleaned and then used the spin bike for 30 minutes.

nice job. i agree that running indoors isn't as fun, but it's a good alternative in this weather. keep those lungs clean! i think i'm destroying mine right now and i'm not sure it's worth it. :)

Leslie, Duke and I ran our usual 3 mile course. We didn't get too cold even though the temperature was 14 degrees because it was not windy.  Three was just right for me today since yesterday I was feeling pretty sick.

Our running group was meeting at 9:30 at the park across from the fitness center.  Leslie, Duke and I went at 9 and ran from my house down to the river bottoms and up and around the subdivision a few times and then met the others at 9:30.  Only Michelle, Aaron and one other person whose name I can't remember were there.  We ran along the River Bottoms road until we got to Parkway Palisades and Leslie, Duke and I ran up the big hill while the others  went to the trail.  When Leslie, Duke and I started our run we went on the trail for a few minutes and there were a lot of slippery spots so we didn't want to run on the trail.  After the big hill we ran down to the River bottoms again and out to 114th and back home.  We were all very tired.  This route has many hills.

When I got home from work today my daughter and her kids were here from Idaho.  I went to the dentist with them and them made them dinner.  After I cleaned the kitchen and my daughter and her kids left to go back home I used the spin bike for 30 minutes.

I went early to running group.  Duke and I did the 2 mile loop through the neighborhood and then went back to Riverton High to meet the others.  The only one that came was Rachel who ran over from her house.  We did the 2 mile loop again and then I had to head home to get ready for work.  Rachel went slow with me the whole time and I had a good visit.

I didn't exercise at all today because I had a cold and was too tired after work.  I did make it to the temple to go through with my niece who is going on a mission to Baton Rouge Louisiana.  Her brother is going on a mission to Tonga.

I met the group at Riverton High for the early miles.  I started off on my usual route through the subdivision with Duke.  Mike caught up with me about 5 minutes later.  He came for the early miles but was a little bit late.  I really enjoyed talking to him and catching up on his family.  When we got back to the High school none of the others were there yet so we ran past and turned in the subdivision again and the ran part way up the street and turned around and went back.  When we got back, Rachel and Carissa were there to we did the loop through the subdivision again.  Then I had to leave to get home for work.  After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with my pushups.  I hope everyone is having a nice Valentines Day.  I have the best husband in the world.  He is been leaving Valentines surprises on my pillow every day this week.

I met the group at the park at the bottom of tithing hill.  There were about 7 other people and it was fun to see them.  We started north on the parkway trail for our warmup and then turned around after about a half a mile and went back to the park to pick up anyone that was late.  Then we headed south on the trail.  Duke and I got behind early because I am slow and he has to pee on every bush.  We went slow and stead;y and I even made it all the way up the big hill.  Some on the others were already heading back the other way but I kept going until I was almost to bangerter and then turned around and headed back.  We kept a slow and steady pace and when we got back Michelle M was still there so I visited with her fro a couple of minutes.  It was a good run.  Leslie didn't come because she went snowboarding with her boyfriend.

Today I was able to ride my bike outside. I rode my usual 6 miles course.  It seemed harder than it did last fall but maybe it was because the wind was blowing hard.  I really enjoyed riding outside much more the using the spin bike.

Leslie and I ran down from her house to the Run Gr8 running store to meet for their run.  There were lots of people there.  We were doing the 5 mile run.  I was very slow and got tired.  I told Leslie to go ahead.  Duke can't run with me for a couple of weeks so his leg can get better. Leslie came back for me and when we turned the corner I took off my warm stuff and so did she.  We ran east on 3600 to redwood road.  The leader of the group came back for me and Leslie went ahead.  We the ran north on redwood to the cemetery road and then north on 13th to the park and then out to redwood again and north to 126th and then west back to the store.  I enjoyed visiting with Heidi the wife of the store owner.  I made it back and was very tired.  We signed up for the free stuff and then ran back to Leslie's.  I'm glad I only went 6 miles.

Duke and I met the group at Bingham for the early miles.  We were the only ones for the early miles.  We ran down 106th to redwood and then back to 2200 and then back to redwood and north to almost 98th and then back to Bingham.  I had to be to work at 6 so I couldn't stay any longer.

Leslie, Chrissy and I ran from her house to the Run Gr8 running store for the run.  We were suppose to wear green.  I couldn't find my green shirt so I just wore a green pin.  They gave out prizes and I won a hat.  Then Leslie and I ran the 5 mile course and Christine did the 3 mile one.  I went slow and steady and told Leslie to go ahead.  When I got the the road by the park Leslie came back to meet me.  She had a bloody knee because she had fallen down.  I ran with her the rest of the way.  They had cupcakes for us at the end.  It was fun.  Then we walked back to Leslie's.  Next week we are not running with the run Gr8 group because we are all doing the Kick Ash 5K at Wheelers Farm.

I thought the group was meeting at Bingham to run on the track, so I got there early and ran up and down 106th until it was time to start.  No one came so I ran east on 106th to redwood and then north on redwood to 98th and then back.  When I got home I checked my email and found out we were meeting at Riverton High not Bingham.

When I got up to feed the cows this morning it was 45 degrees, so I wore a tank top and shorts to running group.  At least I had my gloves, arm warmers and head band.  There were only 4 others there.  We headed down the big hill on lampton.   We kept going on Lampton until we got almost to the end.  The others were heading back so I turned around too.  They were going back the same way, but I didn't feel like running up the big hill so I went out to 13th west and ran south back to tithing hill and then east to the church.  By the time I got back I was soaked.

Three of my daughters, a son-in-law and one grand daughter and I ran the Kick Ash 5K this morning at Wheeler's Farm.  Several other daughters and grandkids were going to run but the snow and cold kept them away.  Luckily it stopped snowing by the time the race started but it was very muddy and cold.  I kept a slow stead;y pace and all my; family was ahead of me.  After about a half mile I could see my youngest daughter up ahead so my goal was to catch her.  I caught up to her and we stayed together for the first mile and a half and then I pulled ahead and beat her by about 30 seconds.  It was a fun run.  I think I was 48th out of about 100.  The wet cold weather kept a lot of people away.  It was a free race and we got neat shirts.  My grand daughter won a $50 gift card to Scheels.

I met the group at the church on 102nd and 40th west.  I was early for the late miles so I ran east on 102nd and then back to the church.  The group started out going north on 98th to sky drive.  I followed and then lost sight, but I knew where they turned.  I turned west on Sky drive and then ran west to the golf course and then turned around and headed back the same way.

I met the group at the church on Tithing hill.  We ran east to Lampton and then followed Lampton north to the end and then ran west to the bottom of the hill.  Then we ran up and down the hill several times.  Then we followed Lampton back. When I got to the very big hill that ends on Tithing Hill I was so tired I had to walk part way.

Met the group at Country Crossing.  I went to the early miles.  There was a guy there that I didn't recognize but I talked him and he was not from the group but was doing sprints.  I ran out to 114th and then up to daybreak and then back and then up and down the road until the others came.  Then we ran around the subdivision and then out to 114th and then up to daybreak again and then I had to leave.

Leslie and I ran down to Run Gr8 for the run.  We did the usual 5 mile course.  Leslie went ahead and then I met up with a girl from my ward.  She was going slow so she ran with me most of the way.  She was recovering from and injury.  Leslie came back when I got to Riverton Park so Amy ran ahead.  Wow 5 miles even makes me tired.  We walked back to Leslie's afterwards.

I met the group at Riverton Park.  I didn't go to the early miles but I got there about 5 minutes early.  It was raining so I just waited in the Car.  Rachel was waiting in her car too but Kris was running in the rain.  When it was time for the run to start the rain stopped.  Rachel and I jogged out to the street and then Cheris came so we went back for her and Kris got back from running in the rain.  We all headed out to 13 west and then south.  The group got so far ahead that I wasn't sure if they turned or went straight.  I went straight for 18 minutes and then turned around and headed back.  I was getting very hot because I wore my warm stuff and since it wasn't raining I was hot instead of cold.

Leslie, Christine, Bridget and I all met at Run Gr8 for the morning run.  Leslie and I ran down from her house. Bridget brought her baby jogger with her two kids.  We only went 3 today because we had to be home by 9 cuz Leslie and my husband Kent were going to get the new Bees.  I helped Bridget push the jogger.  I pushed at least half of the time.  Even though I only went 3.5 instead of 5 miles I got a very good workout pushing the jogger.

Leslie is a fast running but a slow biker.  She thinks biking is very hard and I think it is very easy.  I appreciate her biking with me even if I have to go slow for her.  I did ride fast on my way to her house.

I met the group at RHS for the early miles. I ran the usual course through the subdivision and then when I got back to the school I ran along 27th south to 126th and then up a few blocks and then turned around and went back.  When I got back the others were there for the regular miles and I said Hi before I left.  I have to be to work at 6am the rest of the year because my boss's husband is int he hospital so she won't be back until next school year.

My daughter Jenny was here from Idaho so she came with Bridget, Leslie and I to the Gr8 run.  We all had a lot of things to do and Bridget had her two kids in the double jogger so we decided to just go three miles.  Bridget wasn't feeling up to par so I pushed the jogger most of the way.  We got a good workout.  Then Leslie and I rode our bikes on an 8 miles course finishing at my house so Leslie could help her Dad(my husband Kent) check their beehives.  Leslie is learning how to take care of them and will eventually take the hives to her house.

I did the Goldilocks Bike ride.  I was going to go 60 but the weather was very bad.  Right when I started out it started pouring.  I rode from Butter field park out to the Mountain View Corridor and then north to 90th.  I passed a few people and one girl caught back up with me a couple of time at the lights.  I wasn't sure where I was suppose to go after I got to 90th, so I headed east and never saw a sign to turn so I kept going to redwood and then I turned south.  It poured the whole time and I was frozen and soaked so when I got to 114th on redwood I turned and went home.  That was by far the worst bike ride I have ever had.  I took a hot bath and then my; husband drove me back to get the car and my lunch.

My husband  and I drove to Oakley Idaho after work on Friday.  We are taking my daughter and her husband to the Twin Falls temple and then to lunch on Saturday.  We started doing this with each of our married children.  After the first two my husband got a knee infection and had to have an operation so be took 4 months off but we are now on track.  Friday night we visited my daughter, her husband and kids and then Saturday morning she and I got up at 5:30 to run.  She went slow for me and we had a very nice visit.  Then we cleaned up and went to the Twin Falls temple.  It is small but very beautiful.  Then we went to Panda Express for lunch.

Shannon was too busy with work to ride bikes so I rode alone.  I did the usual 10 mile course but since I didn't ride to Shannon's it was only 9 miles instead of 10.  I rode as fast as I could because I did not have to wait for anyone.

My daughter Christine and I did the Triathamom today.  It was at the Kearns Rec center.  We did the swim in the pool and then biked and ran outside.  The swim got me a little more tired than I expected but I was still able to pass about 20 people on the bike.  The run was very tiring.  It started out on the grass up hill.  I had to walk for a while, but most of the people were walking.  Christine beat me by 7 minutes but I got to the finish before her because I started the swim before her.,  I won 1st in my age group but there were only 3 people in my age group.  Christine finished 97th out of 300 and I finished 146th out of 300.  I'm glad we did the Triathamom.

I met the group at the church on 2200 and 98th.  I was a few minutes early for the regular miles and so was Julie so we both ran up 98th for a while and then back to the church.  When the rest of the group came we ran towards Bingham and then ran east on the Oak something drive to 27th west and then I ran north back to 98th and then back to the church.

I rode bike with Shannon.  We did our usual route except when we got to 144th Shannon headed home on Redwood and I kept going west to 3600.  Then I went north to 118th and then east to 2700 and then north to 106th and then east to redwood and then south to 114th and the east to my house.  It was a good ride.  I really love riding bikes more than running because I can go a lot farther and not feel tired at the end.

I met the group at Riverton High School for the regular miles.  We did a mile warm up through the subdivision and then ran on the track.  I did a mile on the track and then I took Rachel's dog and did the 2 mile loop through the neighborhood.  Michelle Margetts was there for the first time in a long time so I visited with her for a while after the run.  It was nice to talk to her again.  She has had several injuries and hasn't been able to run too much this summer.

I went to my Family Outing at the Heber Valley Girls Camp so the only exercise I got was walking back and forth between out cabins and the main pavilion and I also got some arm exercise rowing our canoe on the lake.  We really had a lot of fun.  After we got home and put everything away, Ben and I rode our bikes on our 4 miles route.  We rode fast and got a good workout.

Met the group at the church on 2200 and 98th.  I was late for the early miles so I just ran west on 98th and then back to the church.  For the regular miles we ran south on 2200 and then back to 98th and then we did a loop through the subdivision.  We saw a lot of Bingham Cross Country runners including Michelle  M's son.  The group turned south on 2700 and I turned north and ran to 98th and then back to my car.  After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises.  Then I picked tomatoes.  Tomorrow I will make salsa after work.

After work and a short nap I rode my bike on my 10 mile course.  Since I was riding alone I rode fast and was able to do it in 35 minutes.  Then I came home, made dinner and made Salsa.  Then I went to my daughter Christine's and rode our 12 mile bike course with her.  She isn't as fast as I am so we did it in just under 1 hour.  I realized while I was biking that I'm beginning to love biking the way I use to love running.  I can bike twice a day and then I really do not feel very tired.  When I was younger it was that way with running.

Met the group at the South Jordan soccer fields.  I was late for the early miles but early for the late miles so I ran 1 miles before the rest of the group got there.  We were doing mile repeats up Rustic Road but we first ran up Canterwood to 2700 and then north to Rustic Road.  We ran down and then up and then I ran down again and then back to the soccer fields.

Leslie and I went to the Run GR8 run and I ran slow and steady for the 5 miles.  Afterwards we went to the shake place across the street for a free protein shake.  We both got strawberry banana and it was very good.

Met the group at the church on 102nd and 40th west for the early miles.  I was early so I ran down 102nd for about 5 minutes and then ran back.  When I got back Peggy was there and we went across the street to the park and ran around the trail.  I kept getting sprayed by the sprinkler so about the 3rd time around I went to 106th and then ran back on the sidewalk.  I still got sprayed.  The next time around I turned around and went the other way so I missed the sprinkler.  For the regular miles we ran south on 40th west.  The group was going to 114th but I needed to get to work so I turned around at the top of the hill by the temple and headed back.  After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises and then I picked beans.

I met the group at the park across from LIfetime Fitness.  I was the only one there at first so I ran around the trail around the park.  When Peggy got there, she Aaron and I ran on the parkway trail.  For the regular miles we ran up and down the Hill at parkway pallisades.  It is a long steep hill. Luckily I had to get to work so I only had to run up and down once.

I met the group at Riverton High for the early miles.  Peggy was there early so she and I started on our usual course through the subdivision.  After we had gone about a quarter of a mile she turned back to get the others.  I kept going.  When I got about 3/4th of the way around the block it felt like I had a rock in my shoe.  I stoped and shook out my shoe and then started on again.  It still felt like something was poking the heel of my foot.  I ran easy on that foot back to the school and sat in my car and took offk my shoe.  I could feel something very sharp poking though the heel of my shoe.  I could not get it out so I decided to be done for the day.  When I got home I could see that I had stepped on something sharp and it had gone through the heel of my shoe.  My son pulled it out wiht his needle nose pliers.

I met the group at the West River Front Park.  Mike and Peggy were there.  They went to check out the cemetary course for the regular miles so I ran to 114th twice and back and then around the park a couple of times.  For the regular miles we ran around the park once and then took the dirt road in back of LIfeTime Fitness up to the road that leads to the cemetary.  We stopped at the down hill and started an 1 mile run down the road to the cemetary and around the cemetary.  They did the route 3 times and I did it twice.

I was off work today so I met Cheryl's run group at the West River Front Park.  We ran to the big HIll in Parkway Palisades and then ran up and then part way down we turned north and ran through the subdivision.  Then we ran through another subdivision and through a trail that leads to the road by the cemetary.  Then we ran up and down the hill by the cemetary 3 or 4 times.  Then we ran past the cemetary to 106th and then west to the next street and then we weaved through the streets of the subdivision.  Then we ran back out to 106th, back past the cemetary and south on cemetary road until we got to the dirt road that leads back to Life Time Fitness and back to our cars.  I got a very good workout.  Thanks Cheryl.

Leslie, Kent and I went to the RUNGR8 mustache run last night.  It was a bit chilly but as soon as I started running I was not cold, in fact by the end of the run I was hot.  Leslie and I ran the 3 mile run and Kent walked the Mile run.  He was finished with his scone and hot chocolate and rode the bus back to RUNGR8 and he came back and picked us up. There were about 200 people doing the run.  It was fun.

I went to the RUNGR8 run this morning. It was 23 degrees so I wore long lycra and a short sleeved shirt with my arm warmers, gloves and headband.  I started off early and Leslie caught up with me at 3600 west.  She stayed with me the rest of the run.  It was fun to visit with her.  When we got to the road by Stamp-In-Up I was hot and had to take off my warm stuff.  It was a good run and I enjoyed visiting with Leslie.

I met the group at the church on 102nd and 40th west.  I was the only one there for the early miles.  I ran south on 40th to 106th and then back around the church.  There still was no one else there so I ran north on 40th west almost to 90th and then turned around and headed back.  The group had already left when I got there but I could see them running east on 102nd so I headed that way.  Part way down the street Lisa Dudley caught up with me.  We kept going east until we got to a street going north and we could see the runners heading this way.  When we were almost caught up them I turned around and headed back.  They all caught up and passed me.  There were 18 runners which is a lot for Thanksgiving.  We regrouped at the light and I headed south on 40th west.  Everyone caught up and passed me except Nicole, Michele's daughter.  I ran with her for about 10 minutes and then I had to turn around and head home so I could get my turkey on to cook.  We had a nice Thanksgiving.  We had 25 people.  Only 2 of my daughters and their familes didn't come because they were going to in-laws this year.

I picked up Leslie for the RUNGR8 run.  She was doing 7 and I was doing 5 so I ran by myself.  It is so wierd how my legs have forgotten how to run.  About the first half of the run I have to think about how to lift my legs and where to place them.  Then about half way through the run they seem to work normally again for a while and then off and on the last mile they quit working again.  I am glad that I can still run.

I met the group at the church on 124th and 13th west for the early miles.  I was the only one there for the early miles.  It was snowing but it was not sticking to the ground yet.  It did the 2 mile loop through the subdivision and then ran back to the church.  It was not quite time for the regular miles so I ran back and forth past the church.  There were 8 people besides me for the regular miles.  We ran down Tithing Hill to the parkway trail and started north.  It was a blizzard and the snow was coming from the north so we turned around and headed back up the hill.  When I got back to the church I headed home to get ready for work.  By the end the snow was really sticking and I was even starting to get cold.

I went to the RUNGR8 run with Leslie.  It was cold but not as cold but it was 20 degrees.  Leslie was running 7 with Christine so I started out early.  It was already starting to snow.  The first mile going south was a little bit cold but when I turned east it wasn't as bad.  The snow was not sticking at first but by the time I turned east it was so I had to walk a couple of times.  I made it back to RUNGR8 and I almost fell down in their driveway.  When I got back they told me I had enought miles(100) to get my Tech shirt so I got it and I really like it.
