Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

2010  Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group

Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group

South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group

Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

My sister Nina and I did some run, walking at her cabin while we were at our sister's getaway.  Her cabin is in Timberlake up past Heber City. There are lots of hills and they are mostly dirt roads so the up hill was very steep and hard.

Still at the cabin in Heber.  Nina and I did our run walk up and down the hills again, but this time we went farther and were more tired at the end.

Met the bunners for our bike ride.  There were only six of us there(Dean, Me, Michelle, Cheryl, Debbie and Alan) and we were all real bunners.  We rode our usual course and it was as fun as usual especially up the hill by the temple.  Tonight I went swimming with Leslie.  We swam at the South County Pool and swam for 40 minutes.  It sure is a lot harder in that pool because it is a 50 meter pool.

I decided to run with Leslie this morrning instead of going with the running group to Traverse Mountain.  I went to her house at about 6:30 and we jogged from her house up to Day Break Lake.  We jogged around the entire lake and then out to 114th and back down to 40th West, up past the temple and back to Leslie's.  I got very tired even with Duke pulling me and had to walk a couple of times.  It was a good run but I wish I didn't get so tired. After I got home I picked beets and made pickled beets and bottled some regular beets.  I also picked some beans for lunch.  Then later on I picked apricots.

I did my arm weight exercises.  Then I cleaned the house, made apricot leather and went to the temple.  After dinner I watched my 9 year old granddaughter Rachel (Christine's daughter) run in her track meet.  She ran the mile and it was 101 degrees.  She looked very hot and tired but she kept going until she got to the end and then she fell into my arms and started crying.  I was so proud of her.  She did it in 8mins 50 sec.  I don't think I could even do it that fast in the heat.

Leslie and I went to our triathlon class at the South County Pool.  We swam for 40 minutes.  It was hard, but it is getting a little easier.  Then we rode our bikes.  We went from the pool south and through a subdivision and then out at 134th south at Redwood Road.  Then we went north on Redwood to 98th south and then west to 27th and then south to 104th.  Then we realized that the road was close at 104th and turned around and rode back to 98th south and back down to Redwood.  Then we were going to ride south on Redwood back to 126th.  Just after I passed 114th my bike started thumping so I pulled over and noticed that I had a flat.  I walked my bike home and drove my car back to the pool.  Leslie and the rest of the people kept riding.  I brought Duke back with me for the run.  I held him for about a half a mile and then let him off his leash.  He caught up with Leslie and followed her the rest of the way.  The run was very hot and tiring.  When I got to the big hill up to the pool the only thing that kept me going was thinking about my 9 year old granddaughter that ran the mile in 101 degree heat.  I thought if she could do that I could keep going.  I did have to walk for about a minute up the hill but I ran the rest of the way.  After I got home I ate breakfast, showered and went to help with our Stake Float.  I helped for a couple of hours and then came home and ate lunch and took a nap.  When I woke up and came down to clean the kitchen, I found out that my son cleaned it while I was napping.  That sure made me happy.
