Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

2010  Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group

Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group

South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group

Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

2010

Riverton 1/2 Marathon  3rd in age

Daybreak Triathlon 1st in age

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running, biking, swimming and stay fit until I'm 100 years old

Personal:

I'm married, have 8 kids (7 daughters and one son) and 28 grandkids. I have a great supportive husband.  The grandsons and grand daughters are now tied at 14.  I have 2 grand daughters married and one going on a mission to Australia.

Did my leg weight exercises along with my stomach exercises and 80 mens pushups.  The pushup are not getting any easier.  This afternoon I swam laps.  I tried to practice breathing on the other side but it got me so tired I decided that I would just breath on the side that is comfortable.  I swam 50 minutes doing mostly front crawl.  I did a few back crawl, back stroke, and side stroke and one breast stroke.

Met the group at the track.  Ran with the whole group for the warm up and then ran with Kris Bullock around the track at a slower pace.  I had a good time visiting with Kris.  Even at the slower pace I got very tired.

Met the bunners at the SJ Rec center.  We had a good ride.  I had a nice time visiting with Michelle M.  Leslie and I didn't swim after work but I went with her to buy some trees and benches for her yard.  Bridget is having Sicily's 1st birthday party at Leslie's on Sunday.  Sicily turned 1 year old yesterday.  Kent and I went up to visit her.  She is so cute and Glenn and Bridget sure do love her.

Met the group at the church on 9800 and 22nd W.  When they started out Leslie was just getting there so I went slow so she could catch up.  Peggy said we would just go to 40th West since most of us are running the Riverton 10K on Saturday.  When the group got to 40th west they kept going so Leslie and I kept going too.  The group kept going past the Golf Course, but Leslie, Duke and I turned around.  I was tired when I got back to the car, but not dead.  This afternoon I went swimming.  I think swimming is starting to get easier.  I swam 20 laps front crawl, took a very small break, swam 10 laps backstroke and then 10 more front crawl.  This is the first time I was able to swim 40 laps and I wasn't even as dead as other times when I didin't swim that far.

Leslie and I rode our bikes this morning since it was too rainy to ride after she got off work yesterday.  We rode the Riverton 1/2 marathon course, but we started from my house instead of Riverton Park.  When we got to the trail where it went under the road on 126th the water was over the trail so we had to carry our bikes over the rocks.  Leslie made it up the large hill on the trail and so did I.  When we got to Bangerter  the water was over the trail and we didn't want to get wet so we turned around.  Instead of carrying our bikes under the road on 126th we rode up the hill to the pool and out to 13th west and then home from there.  It was a good ride and Leslie didn't crash.

I ran the Riverton 10K today.  I just took it easy and did it in 1hr 3mins.  I thought that was faster than last year, but I looked it up and I was actually slower.  Thats okay though because I did my best.  I wasn't even dead at the end.  Leslie ran with Duke and she finished in 53 minutes.  We have all the family coming over at noon for a barbeque.
