Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

2010  Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group

Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group

South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group

Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I met the group early for the early miles.  Kris was already there jogging and I jogged up to 2200 and out past the back parking lot and to the next street and then turned around and headed back past the other parking lot and down to street and back and then when I got back Kris was back.  We started off and then saw Michelle come so we went back and picked her up.  We then ran back out to 2200 and north to the second neighborhood and through it and then back out to 2200 and then through the next neighborhood and then back to Bingham to meet the others.  I left to go home and get ready for work.

I ran 3 miles with Duke this morning before work.  I didn't have time to meet the group because they were meeting too far away.  I was very glad I wore the spikes on my shoes that Michelle M gave me.  It was very icy and slippery but I didn't slip once.  After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises.

I was a little bit worried on Saturday when I started off on my run.  I was doing the Riverton Half Marthon Course and I hadn't run that far since October when I ran the SJ Marathon.  I started off at the Park and headed north on 13th west.   There was a running group running south and it made me wish I had a group to run with.  Our group was running Wasatch Blvd but I wanted to run the Riverton Half Course.  I kept it slow and steady.  I brought my spikes to put on my shoes if the trail was icy.  I got to the big hill on Lampton and turned to head to the trail.  The trail was dry and did not have any ice.  I headed up the hill in the Tithing Condo's and Leslie met me coming down. (She doesnt' like to get up early) then she ran the rest of the course with me.  We got to the South County Pool and started down to the trail.  It was quite icy and we had to walk, especially across the bridge.  When we got to the trail it didn't look too bad.  We started along and got to a few icy spots so I decided to put on the spikes.  They helped a lot.  We saw a lot of runners running the other direction.  The weather was cool but not freezing.  We took a few walking breaks and ate hot tomale's.  We walked up the S curve.  When we got past the S curve I started to get warm so I took off my gloves, arm warmers and head band.  We made it past the cemetery and headed north on Redwood and then the wind picked up and I started to get cold.  I didn't feel like stopping to dig out my gloves because we were close to the end.  We made it back to the park and I was glad to be to the end but not dead.  Both of my feet hurt the rest of the day but I stretched them and iced them so I'm sure they will be fine.
