Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

2010  Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group

Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group

South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group

Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

2010

Riverton 1/2 Marathon  3rd in age

Daybreak Triathlon 1st in age

Long-Term Running Goals:

Personal:

Wow almost 5 days with no exercise.  I arrived in Wichita, Kansas at 10pm on Thursday night.   Friday morning we got up at 6 am and started driving.  We drove through Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and Indiana and ended up in Louisville, Kentucky.  It was a long drive and we were glad to get there, but I had an enjoyable visit with my sister that I don't get to see very often.  When we got to our hotel we unpacked, swam and went to dinner and then we went to bed.  We slept in until 8 am and then went to breakfast in our hotel.  After breakfast We packed a lunch and went to Six Flags Kentucky.  We stayed for about 4 hours and had a fun time.  My sister got a little sick on one of the Roller Coasters.  I'm glad I decided not to ride that roller coaster.  Then we went back to the hotel and rested for an hour and got ready for my other sister's son's wedding reception.  It was in Milton, Kentucky which was about 1 hour away from where we were staying.  The place was a plantation house and it was very neat looking.  My sister and her husband and kids were very glad to see us.  We visited and ate for about 3 hours and then drove back to our hotel.  I watched the last 3 minutes of the BYU game.  Yeah Cougars!!!  Then I went to sleep.  Sunday morning we ate breakfast and started our long drive back to Wichita, Kansas.  I was glad I brought lots of stuff to read because it was a long boring drive.  We got back at about 8 pm and visited with my sisters kids and then went to bed.  Monday morning we slept until 7:30 and then just hung around visiting until it was time for me to go to the airport.  Kent picked me up at the airport and we went straight to Leslie's for a BBQ.  We had a nice time and it is sure good to be home.

Met the BBK's at Parkway Palisades.  We ran down to 114th and walked across the construction and then up past the church, we then turned left and then left again and then down to the church, but this time we turned at the church to miss the construction and the back to the parking lot.  We me the rest of the group and jogged over to run up the big hill.  After the big hill we jogged to the parkway trail.  I ran down the trail for 15 minutes and then had to turn around and head for work.  It felt good to run again after so many days off.  Leslie had a headache after work so we didn't ride our bikes.

After work and a short nap I did my arm weight exercises.  Then after Leslie got off work we went to the Black Ridge Reservoir and swam.  I swam back and forth twice which is about 800 meters and Leslie swam three times.  I was tired after doing arm weight exercises and working and decided to be safe.

Met the BBK's at Walmart for the early miles.  Only Mike, Peggy, Kelli, Rachel and I showed up at 5am but we had a nice run and visit.  We met the rest the group at 5:30 and ran up 114th South.  I only ran to 10th East and had to turn around so I could be to work by 6:30.  I was extra cautious and stayed on the sidewalk because I didn't want to get hit by a car like the Lady did yesterday.  It was very dark going up 114th and I was glad I had a reflector vest and head light.  I really feel bad for the women who was killed.  She was about my age and was training to run the St. George Marathon with her daughter.  Duke and I stayed way over to the side on the way back to walmart.  After dinner Leslie and I went on a long bike ride.  We rode from my house on 114th and 1579 West to redwood and then south to 118th.  Then we rode all the way up 118th to Bachus Highway and turned left and rode to the entrance to Kennecott.  Boy was it a hard ride up but the ride back was easy.  I'm really feeling tired tonight especially since I woke up at 2:45 this morning and only got a 15 minute nap after work.

Leslie and I went on a long run today.  I drove over to her house with Duke.  Then we ran from her house to 40th West and North to 104th South, then turned West and ran up to Daybreak Lake.  Then we ran around the lake and then ran to the temple and then back out to 104th.  On 104th we ran down to 40th west and then turned north and ran to 98th South and then turned East and ran to 13th West.  Then we ran South past the temple to 11400 South and then East to my house.  Leslie was nice and took Duke and went slow enough for me to keep up.  It took us almost 2 hours but we had a few stops along the way.  Duke went potty and few times, Leslie had to go potty once and her shoes came untied three times.  Overall it was a good run and I wasn't too dead at the end.  I was beginning to wonder if I would ever be able to run another half marathon but since I made it 12 today I'm sure I can do another half as long as I go slow.
