Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

2010  Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group

Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group

South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group

Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

Riverton 1/2 Marathon  3rd in age

Daybreak Triathlon 1st in age

Long-Term Running Goals:

Personal:

Did my arm weight exercises.  Then I cleaned the house and had my sisters over for lunch.  Then I tended Bridget's baby Sicily for and hour.  Bridget, Glenn and their baby are staying with us for a couple of days.  It is so much fun to have Sicily here. (and Glenn and Bridget too). Tonight I met Leslie at Marv Jenson's to swim laps.  I was able to do 15 laps front crawl without a break.  Then after a short break I did 15 more  front crawl.  I'm really glad that swimming is getting easier.  I need to be able to swim  half a mile by September so we can do the Daybreak Triathlon

Met the group at Parkway Palisades but didn't go early because I knew I would be plenty tired with the regular workout.  My daughter Leslie came too so she took Duke half of the time.  That big hill is really a killer.  About our 3rd time up the big hill some big dog decided to come and play with Duke.  We kept stopping to chase it away but it kept coming back.  Finally when we were almost at the top of the second hill I got the ohter dog to go into someones yard and I closed the gate.  I was very tired after the workout.  After dinner Leslie and I rode our bikes.  We rode down 13th West to Bangerter.  This time I finally made it up the S curve without stopping.  We went about a mile past the S curve and Leslie chain got messed up.  We called Kent and he came and rescued us.  We ended up riding about 5 miles.

Met the bikers at the SJ Rec center and we rode our usual course. We had about 11 bikers. We seem to get new people each week. This week Amy brought her friend Jenna. Michelle Margetts came and I had a good visit with her. Tonight Leslie and I went to our Triathlon class at the South County Pool. The teacher didn't show up but one of the girls in the class that is a very good swimmer gave Leslie and I suggestions on how to improve our swimming. It is a lot harder swimming in the South County Pool because the lanes are 50 meters long. After the swim we started to ride our bikes, but Leslie's bike had a problem. When we got home Kent looked at her bike and the chain is bent so she will need to get a new one.

Met the group at the church on 118th and 2700.  We ran down 118th to 40th West then down 40th west to 114th and then up daybreak to the turnaround, back down to 40th then north up past the temple and then all the way back to our cars.  I was so tired even with Duke pulling me I wasn't sure I could make it back to the car.  I made it but boy was I tired.  After breakfast I picked peas, shelled and froze them for two hours.  My granddaughter Marissa helped me to earn some money.  Then after a nap and packing, Kent, Leslie, Ben and I headed to Idaho to visit Jenny and her family.

This morning I got up at 6 am.  I was going to run with my daughter Jenny, but her baby kept her up most of the night.  Leslie was still asleep too, so I Jogged by myself.  My daughter lives in Oakley Idaho.  I just started jogging down the dirt road until I got to the paved road, then I jogged down it until my watch said 30 minutes.  Then I turned around and came back.  Jenny's dog jogged along with me.  It was nice to have the company, but her dog thought it had to be two inches from me and I almost tripped several times.  Other than cows, sheep and dogs, I didn't see another person.  Not even one car passed by.  It was a good run I didn't try to kill myself and I felt fine when I got back.  After breakfast we went to the City of Rocks state park.  There were tons of giant rocks surrounded by some trees and sage brush.  There were lots of people with climbing gear climbing the huge rocks.  It was a lot of fun.  Then when we got back Leslie tended the kids and Kent and I took Jenny to lunch for her birthday.
