Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

2010  Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group

Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group

South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group

Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

Long-Term Running Goals:

Personal:

Did my arm weight exercises this morning, then I planted flowers, cleaned and went fishing with 3 of my grandkids.  After lunch I took a nap and cleaned more.  Then I swam laps.  I think swimming is actually getting a little easier.  I swam 12 laps front crawl, took a short break, swam 12 more laps front crawl, took a short break and swam 10 laps back crawl.  I wasn't even too dead at the end.

Met the group at Bingham for our track workout.  It sure is hard running without Duke, but I know it is good for me.  I was very tired at the end.  I came home and did lots of cleaning.  After dinner Leslie and I went on our bike ride.  We rode down redwood road to the cemetary road, at least we thought it was the cemetary road.  We rode all around in this subdivision and finally made our way out to the park road.  Then we rode down 13th west to Bangerter.  On the way back I misjudged my gears and didn't make it all the way up the S curve.  I ended up walking my bike the last 50 yards of the hill.  I hope I don't do that during our triathlon on Saturday.

There were only 5 bikers today at our bunners group.  Dean, me, Amy, Collett and Curt.  Curt tried to show me how to use my gears.  I think I have a little better idea how to do it but I'm sure not an expert.  We had a nice ride.  Thanks Dean for heading our group and Curt for helping me.

Met the group at the soccer fields at 6 am.  After the first 5K I was very tired even with Duke pulling me.  I went one more mile and then decided that was good enough for today.  Then I came home and cleaned and picked and shelled peas.

Leslie and I did our first Triathlon today.  It was at the South County Pool.  We swam 300 meters and Leslie beat me by about 1 1/2 minutes.  Then we biked 11 miles.  I caught up with Leslie on the bike and passed her up.  I was doing very well passing people on the long ride up the hill past the prison and up the hill going South.  On the way back I was really wizzing until I got to the S curve.  Somehow I did the same thing as last time I went up that hill and I had to get off and walk.  I still did pretty well and passed up all the people that passed me while I was walking my bike up the S curve.  I was ready to start the run and someone told me I still had my bike helmet on so I took it off.  After I went about 1/4 a mile I realized I also had my bike gloves on so I took them off too.  The first part of the run my legs felt like knots, but after about a mile they loosened up.  Leslie passed my during the first mile.  Going up the big hill at the end I was very tired, but I kept running the whole way.  I made it to the end in 1 hour 31 minutes.  Leslie made it in 1 hr 27 minutes.  I was frist place in my age and about 75th overall.  Leslie was 10th place in her age group.  It was very fun.  What really surprised my was that during the swimming some of the people were actually just walking down the lane.
