Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

2010  Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group

Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group

South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group

Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

After work and a short nap I went to the Social Security Office to apply for a new card.  I lost my license when I was running a couple of weeks ago and you need a birth certificate and a SS card.  I got my birth certificate in the mail on Saturday so today I went to get my SS card.  I didn't get the card but I applied for it and it will come in the mail.  They said I could take m;y W2 along with my birth certificate to get my; license.  I'll do that tomorrow.  After dinner I used the elliptical for 15 minutes and the stationary bike for 15 minutes.

Met the group at Centennial Park for the early miles.  We did our usual route running down to 3600.  I turned around at 3600 and the group turned and went south.  I ran back past where we parked and down the road until I met up with the group again.  For the regular miles we did the same route and I turned around again 3600.  I my way back I met up with Eric who had come late.  We met the group just past where we parked and I headed home to go to work.  After work and a short nap I went and got my drivers license.

Met the group at the trailhead on 98th.  Since I didn't have to work this morning I didn't go for the early miles but I did go a little bit early and ran 1 mile before the regular miles.  We ran north on the trail to start the regular miles and then we turned around and ran back to 98th.  Then we started mile repeats running south on the trail from 98th to 106th and then back.  We stopped at 106th because there was a foot of water on the trail under the road on 106th.  When I got back to 98th I couldn't see the group so I just kept going and ran north to the end of the trail, then I turned around and headed back.  When I was almost back the group came running heading north again so I turned around and headed north.  When they turned around and headed south I turned around too.  I made it 6 miles and was very tired.  Dean brought donuts, chocolate milk, gator aid and strawberries.  It was good.  I took the day off from work because I am taking Kent to the doctor.  His knees is improving but it is a long road to recovery.

This morning after I got back from the temple I took Duke on our usual run but I went just a little bit farther.  I'm hoping that in about a month he will be able to go 3 miles.  It was a good run.  Then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 75 mens pushups.  I did 50 pushup and then took a 30 second break and did 25 more.  Hopefully next time I will be able to do all 75 without a break.

I went to Leslie's to run this morning.  We originally planned on doing 6 miles but since she was recovering from Bronchitis and I have a cold and also after killing ourselves last night helping one of my daughters move we decided to only go 3.  It wasn't too cold but the strong wind made it very chilly and I was glad I had on long lycra.  We ran north past the church south on 106th and then turned west and when we got to 1.5 miles we turned around and headed back.  The wind blowing in our faces running south was very strong and it really made us glad we were only going 3 miles.  After I got back home I took Duke on a 2 mile run and he sure loved it.  I could probably count last nights help with the move as 6 miles because we had to park about a 1/2 a block away and when we got to the apartment we had to climb up a huge flight of stairs that was very steep.  After about a hundred trips back and forth we were almost dead.  We only had my two daughters and my son-in-law helping.  We wouldn't have made it without my son-in-law.
