Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

2010  Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group

Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group

South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group

Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

Long-Term Running Goals:

Personal:

Did my arm weight exercises.  I saw Dr. Toronto and he said I had a slight tear in my hamstring muscle which healed some and then was torn again.  I am now on Prednisone for a couple of weeks.  I have to take it very easy and do a lot of stretching.  I swam laps tonight with Leslie but they even hurt quite a bit.  I only went 10 laps but I wasn't that tired after because I took it very easy.  I swam 7 laps front crawl easy, took a break to stretch and then did 3 more laps front crawl.

Went to Leslie's to run so she could take Duke.  I tried to run, but it hurt so much I mostly limped.  I made it two miles.  Thursday I will use the Eliptical.  This afternoon I rode my bike about 4 1/2 miles. It didn't hurt at all.

Did my stomach exercises and 70 mens pushups. I didn't even try to do leg weights. Leslie convinced me that I should also take the night off swimming.

Used the Eliptcal for 15 minutes, the glider for 10 and the exercise bike for 15. It didn't hurt and when I stretched it didn't hurt as much either so I think my muscle might be a little better. I'm still not going to try to jog until next Tuesday.

Leslie and I rode bikes.  We rode about 7 miles.  She rode her new bike for the first time, so I was a lot faster than her and stopped and waited a few times.  We rode from my house on 11400 north on Redwood to South Jordan Park and then turned left towards Crystal Cove, then we went north to 10775 So. and turned East down to 1300 W.  We then went south to Parkway Palisades and rode down to the parkway trail.  We rode on the Parkway Trail to 9800 So and then turned around and came back past Parkway Palisades and up the small hill and back to 1300 West and then north to 11400.  The biking didn't hurt and I went pretty fast and wasn't worn out.

Leslie and I went to our Triathlon class, but we only stayed for the swim because I had to help clean our church and Leslie had to help with a ward party. She came over later to ride bikes, but by then it was cold and rainy so we only rode for about 10 minutes at the church parking lot. She adjusted her seat and got new pedals with shoes that hook in so she was able to ride faster after she got adjusted to her new pedals. It took a couple of crashes before she figured out how to clip and unclip her shoes from the pedals. During our swim I was able to go 10 laps front crawl before I took a very short break and did 10 more laps front crawl. It only hurt a tiny bit so I think I am getting better.
