Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

2010  Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group

Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group

South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group

Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

Met the BBK's at the soccer fields in SJ park.  I go there a few minutes early and started out on the 5K course going the right direction.  I met the group coming the other way at about half way or  more.  I tried to run fast so I could beat them back to the park.  I made it to the park just before the group.  I said "hi," real quick and then headed home because I had to be to work at 6am.

I didn't exercise at all today.  I had a cub scout meeting after work and then we had family coming over.  Jenny and kids came from Idaho and Bridget, Glenn and kids from Ogden.  We (Leslie, me, Jenny, Bridget and Christine's husband) are running as a team in the Dirty Dash tomorrow morning.  I'm sure it will be fun and muddy.

Saturday we (Leslie, Jenny, Bridget, Dan and I)  Ran through the mud and obstacles along with 4000 other people at the 10K Dirty Dash.  It was very crowded and the cars were bumper to bumper on the last mile to Soldier Hollow.  We got there just in time to go to the POP and get to the start.  They did it in waves and our wave was the 3rd wave.  We started out running up a hill through the mud.  It was pretty sticky but I didn't fall down.  Then we ran along the trail for awhile until we got to the hay bales which we climbed over.  Then we ran through more mud, then some trail and then we crawled through some pipes.  Then we ran along the trail for a while until we got to wood wall that we had to climb over.  I was a wimp and went between the obstacles.  It was very muddy and sticky and I slipped and gushed along but didn't fall down.  Then we had 2 or 3 more walls to climb over with plenty of gooey mud.  Then we ran along the trail for a while until we got to the tires.  I was very slow going over the tires and decided I wouldn't make a very good football player. Then we ran along the trail towards Deer Creek Reservoir.  Before the reservoir there were two very deep muddy ditches that we had to climb and walk through and then slip and slide and try to pull ourselves up the other side.  Luckily there were a few weeds to hang onto to pull yourself up on the other side.  Then we ran in the gooey, sticky, stinky mud along the side of Deer Creek reservoir.  Then we had to climb through another ditch to get back to the trail.  Then we ran along the trail until we got to the slip n slide.  We had to wait in line at several of the obstacles including the slip n slide.  During the race the whole team had to stay together so we would run for a while and then walk and wait for the other members of the team. The whole course was up and down hills.   At the end of the slip n slide was another mud pit and it was very slippery.  I grabbed a hold of someone ahead of me so I didn't fall down.  Then we ran to the very last obstacle which was a mud pit that was 2-3 feet deep that you had to crawl through to the end.  In the mud pit Dan tackled Leslie and pushed her under to get back at her for splashing mud on all of us during the whole race.  We were all covered with mud from head to toe but we all had a fun time.  There were lots of teams dressed in costumes, but we just wore our junkiest clothes.  They had outdoor showers and a hose, but the water freezing cold and  there was a long wait.  We all had a fun time but  we still had to shower and wash our hair several times to get clean after we got home.  That night I went to the Women's Conference with all 7 of my daughters.  It was a very nice Conference and they served dinner before the conference.
