Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

2010  Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group

Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group

South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group

Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

Riverton 1/2 Marathon  3rd in age

Daybreak Triathlon 1st in age

Long-Term Running Goals:

Personal:

Leslie and I were going to do our long run today, but she was still not feeling well so I went on a 15 mile bike ride with Shannon.  It took us and hour and 10 minutes.  Shannon was slow today.  I think I could do the ride by myself in 45 minutes.  One day next week I will try. I'm glad I have Shannon to ride with even if she is slow.

Met the group for the early miles at Riverton High.  We did our course through the subdivision and out to 126th and then east to 2700 and back to Riverton.  By they I couldn't see the group so Duke and I ran past the school and down the same street to the seminary and then through the seminary to the school parking lot.  When the others got their, some were running on the track and others a different course.  It just did the same course again and headed home to get ready for work.  After work and a short nap I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with my pushups.

After work and a short nap I rode my bike on the course Shannon and I usually ride our 15 mile course.  I didn't ride to Shannon's so it was .5 short of what we normally ride.  I tried to ride fast but had to stop once to answer my phone and I had to go slow on 126th down the side walk because I didn't want to be in construction on 3600 north of 126th but I didn't want to try to merge over to the turn lane on 126th and Redwood.  I rode east down the side walk on the north side of the road until I got to Leslies street.  Then I turned north through the subdivision and got to 3200 and then out to 118th and then east to Redwood and home.  I made it in 56 minutes.  It usually takes Shannon and I an hour and 6 minutes to ride this same ride so I think I got a good workout.

Met the group at the SJ soccer fields for the early miles.  I started with Duke before the others got there.  We went to the left and did the course the way I like best.  I was slow and steady.  Kris and Rachel caught up with me just before I got back to the soccer fields.  The second time around we went the other direction.  I was very tired already and went slow and steady.  Before I got the end I was so tired I wasn't sure I was going to make it.  I kept plugging along and made it to the end.  Then I got cleaned up and went to work.  I was very tired at work and had to sit down a couple of times but I made it through.

I let Leslie sleep in until 6:30 am and then called and woke her up.  She drove to my house and we ran down 114th to 2200 and then north to almost 7800 to Christine's house.  We stopped and visited and used the restroom and refilled our water. Then we headed back.  We didn't stop once on the way to Christine's but on the way back we stopped twice to eat hot tamalees and walk for a minuted.  We were glad to  make it the 10.5 miles.  If I keep working on it I might make the SOJO half without dying.
