Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

2010  Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group

Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group

South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group

Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I went to Leslie's and we ran from her house up to Daybreak Lake, around the Lake and back to her house.  It took us about 1 hour and 5 minutes.  We think it is just over 6 miles but neither of us has a garmin so we are just guessing.   After dinner Leslie and I went to Blackridge Reservoir to swim.  I also had my grandson Josh so I stayed by the shore with him and swam back and forth while Leslie swam around the whole reservoir.  My grandson thought it was very cold but it was so much warmer than the first time we swam that it felt warm to me.

Met the BBK's at the South County Pool.  We did a warm up and then we did 400 repeats.  After that we did hill repeats.  Although I was always behind everyone at least I could still see them for the whole run.  This afternoon we took my grandson back out to Tooele and ate dinner with them.  When we got home Leslie and I went on a short bike ride.  We rode 6 miles and it took just over 20 minutes.

Leslie and I met the Bunners at the Rec Center.  We were the only ones there so we started riding and Michelle and Curt caught up with us.  We did our usual course.  Michelle is as fast on the bike as she is running.  She and Curt turned around and came back for us when they got to 3600.  Then when we got to Bangerter Curt rode over the bridge and we followed (bad idea).  I didn't shift down enough and had to walk my bike up and it was also very hard to ride around the tight corners.  We didn't see Curt after that but Michelle waited at the Rec center for us to catch up.  This afternoon I will do my arm weight exercises.

Leslie and I decided that since we are going to be riding 100 miles on Saturday that 3 miles was good enough for today.  We ran from Leslie's house up the hill by the temple and then got on the trail by the side of the temple and ran back and forth.  On the way back we ran along 114th to 40th west and ran up the hard side of the hill and then down and back to Leslie's.  Even though we only ran 3 miles with all the hills I still got a good workout.

I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 60 mens pushups.  I have a sore shoulder/back muscle so I wasn't able to do my 70 pushups.  Leslie and I are leaving at 12:30pm to go to Logan for our MS Bike Ride.  We are staying with one of Leslie's friends.

I put our biking miles on since I don't now how to separate them.  Leslie and I went to Logan to do the MS 100 mile bike ride.  We stayed with Leslie's former mission companion.  It was nice to visit with her and her friend.  We went to Olive Garden for dinner and it was delicious.  We  a.had to be at the place at 5:55am for team photos and then the ride started at  7am.  Then we got in line for breakfast.  While I was in line I saw Debbie Worthen the channel 2 weather girl and since my son told me to tell he "hi," I said Hi Debbie, my son Ben told me to tell you Hi.  She said tell Ben I said Hi back.  There were 3000 bikers at the start of the ride.  Leslie and I started out at a medium pace because we wanted to make it to the end.  We rode all over creation.  We skipped the first rest stop and the second one too.  We did stop at the rest stop at mile 28.  We met Sherry and Joy, two of our other teammates there.  Sherry was tired so Leslie stayed back and went slower with her and I went faster with Joy.  Joy was very fast and I stayed with her for about 10 miles. I stopped at the rest stop at mile 50 and was eating trail mix and resting when I saw Leslie pull in.  I was very glad to see her.  Sherry was so tired that she took the turn off for the 75 mile route instead of going 100.  Leslie and I continued on, I was a little tired and was glad to go a little bit slower.  We were in Idaho now and rode all over creation there.  We stopped at the rest stop at about mile 65 so Leslie could use the port-a-potty and then continued on.  We got to the rest stop at mile 75 and stopped and ate lunch.  It was a good lunch and a nice rest.  Then we continued on.  If there was a big hill I would go fast and wait for Leslie at the top.  We skipped the last rest stop and kept riding.  We made it to the finish in 7 hours not counting the stops.  We both felt good about the time.  We thought it would take us at least 8 hours.  There were not as many steep hills as there was in the Goldilocks ride.  We got our medals and patch for going the full 100 and headed home.
