Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

2010  Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group

Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group

South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group

Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

I had to be to work at 6am so I went to Bingham about 10 minutes early and jogged around the parking lot.  Then we did our usual warmup but I cut it short by a few minutes.  After Leslie got off work we rode bikes.  Wow Leslie's new bike sure made a difference.  I went as fast as I wanted to and she was able to keep up.  She now has a computer on her bike so we can tell how far and fast we go.  We went just over 12 miles.

Leslie and I went to a swim clinic at Blackridge reservoir.  We both had wetsuits but boy was it cold.  We were in the water about 35 minutes and our feet and hands were numb when we got out.  The Tri swim at daybreak won't be quit as cold because we will be swimming the whole time instead of treading water listening to instructions.

Met the BBK's at the SJ soccer fields.  I started a couple minutes before everyone and they finished a couple of minutes ahead of me.  I'm glad I made it the whole 3 miles.  I would liked to have stayed for the rest of the run but I had to be to work at 6am.  After work I took a much needed nap (I woke up at 3am this morning) then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 70 mens pushups.

Leslie and I picked up our packets for the Daybreak Triathlon.  There was sure a crowd there and it took quite a while.  I'm a little nervous for the swim.  It was freezing when we swam at the Blackridge reservoir on Wednesday and I don't think it will be much warmer tomorrow at Daybreak.  I plan on just making it through the swim and then going all out on the bike ride and then surviving the run.

I'm counting my biking and running.  Leslie and I did our Daybreak Triathlon.  The swimming was the hard part.  The water was freezing cold, but we waited so long to start that my feet were already frozen.  They started in waves and I was the very last wave.  It was my first Tri in open water and I had a hard time going straight towards the bouy.  I got very tired and had to do sidestroke and back stroke.  I kept plugging along and made it to the end.  When I got out I was very tired and light headed so they made me sit down for a few minutes before they let me ride my bike.  The bike was uphill the first half but I still did well.  I passed a few people.  The way back was very easy, all downhill.  I passed a few more people.  The first part of the run was hard.  My legs felt like rubber.  I walked for about 100 yards and ate a granola bar.  Then I ran the rest of the way.  I was very slow but I made it to the end.  I got 1st in my age.  Leslie finished about 10 minutes ahead of me, but she also started about 5 minutes before me.  I think we both did well.
