Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

 

 

Short-Term Running Goals:

My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

Keep running, biking, swimming and stay fit until I'm 100 years old

Personal:

I'm married, have 8 kids (7 daughters and one son) and 28 grandkids. I have a great supportive husband.  The grandsons and grand daughters are now tied at 14.  I have 2 grand daughters married and one going on a mission to Australia.

Ben, Duke and I did our usual walk down to the river bottoms.  Ben really had a hard time holding onto Duke on the way back after Duke spotted a cat and decided to run after it.  I'm glad Ben was holding onto him.  Then I met the group for the early miles.  It was nice to visit with everyone for a minute before they all got ahead of me.  When we got back to the church for the regular miles I took off early because I knew the route and could only stay for 1/2 and hour more.  I ran down to 3200 and to 104th and then turned around and headed back.  Then I got ready and went to work.  Everyone at work noticed that I had a black eye.  Last night I helped Leslie lift her spin bike out of the back of her truck and as I was lifting the metal part that holds the seat hit me in the face just below my eye.  It didn't hurt too much but it really gave me a black eye.  After work I took my second oldest daughter to lunch for her Birthday.  She turned 38 today.  We went to Olive Garden and it was very good.

I met the group at Village Inn for the early morning run.  We were doing the South Jordan half route.  The others started out ahead of me but Eric ran with me.  We headed out to 118th and south to 40th west, then north past the temple.  Then the others kept going and Eric and I stopped and called Leslie and then ran to her house which is just below the temple in the subdivision.  After we picked Leslie up we continued on on 40th west to Sky Drive and then headed west.  Part way up Lisa Dudley was heading back our way.  She got lost and didn't know the route so she ran with us.  She and Eric ran ahead, but stopped every now and then to get directions from us.  We made it past the gulley and then out to 106th.  We stopped for a minute and Lisa gave us a shot blok and we gave them the directions for the rest of the way.  We made it up to the Lake and around and stopped at the Pop and then up to Soda Row and on to the elementary school and then south.  Leslie was feeling a little bit sick and our water was almost all gone so we stopped at the church on 118th and filled our bottles.  Since she was feeling sick and my foot was hurting, we decided to just head straight down 118th to the district.  We got back just ahead of Lisa and Eric.  As we drove out I said goodbye to Eric and took Leslie home.  It was a good run and I was tired at the end, but now I know I can make the South Jordan half in October.

I did my usual early morning walk with Ben and Duke.  Then I did my leg weight/stomach exercises along with 60 pushups, 30second break and 25more.  Then I did some cleaning and cooking to get ready for our family BBQ and then Leslie and I rode our bikes.  We only rode 5 miles because we had to finish getting ready for the BBQ.  I had all my kids, son-in-laws and grandkids over except my daughter that lives in Idaho and her family.  We had a lot of fun but it was wild city with that many people here.

I walked my usual with Ben and Duke and then ran 3 miles.  I didn't meet my running group because they were meeting at Butterfield canyon and that was too far for the time I had.  My foot was hurting while I walked with Ben and it hurt worse when I ran.  It really hurt at work so I decided that I better not run the rest of the week.

I used Leslie's stationary bike for 30 minutes before work.  Now I am going to do my arm weight exercises.

I used the Elliptical and the stationary bike before work.  My foot is feeling some better but it still hurt off and on at work.  After dinner Leslie and I went on a 6 mile bike ride and it only took us 24 minutes.

I walked with Ben and Duke.  We did our usual course to the River Bottoms.  My foot hurt the whole time but not so bad that I couldn't keep going.

I did a little bit shortened walk with Ben and Duke.  My foot hurt a little but not too much.  After work my foot was very sore.  I have an appointment with Dr. Toronto on Friday.  After my nap I did my leg weight exercises.  I did a shortened version because my foot hurt while I was doing it.

I went to Dr. Toronto after work.  He confirmed that I have PF and I won't be able to run for at least a few more days if the prednisone does the trick.

Since I wasn't able to run the Kick it for Kendra run that I had registered for, I rode my bike over and then rode the course before the race and then with the race and then rode home.  There were lots of people there and Kendra and her parents also.  I'm glad there was a good turnout.

Dr. Toronto told me that if I got out of bed and my foot didn't hurt I could walk.  It didn't hurt so I walked my usual route with Ben and Duke.  My foot hurt a little along the way and it really hurt all day at work so I guess I won't be walking or running any time soon. Stupid PF.

I am feeling very frustrated because I can't run or walk because of my PF injury.  My husband and son didn't want me to ride my bike by myself, but finally I got so frustrated that I rode it by myself anyway and I felt much better.  I went 6 miles and it took me 20 minutes.  Tomorrow I am going to call Dr. Toronto and tell him I need a cortisone shot.

I walked half a mile with Ben and Duke, they kept walking and I jogged back. My foot didn't hurt too much so I am going to start walking and running a little each day because I am determined to run the SJ half that I signed up for.  When it gets light I will ride my bike on my 6 mile course.

I walked a half mile with Ben and Duke and then ran back.  I decided that it hurts less to run than to walk.  After work I rode my bike on the 6 mile course.

This morning I ran 1 mile while Duke and Ben walked.  I waited until they left and went a differnt direction so Duke wouldn't try to chase after me pulling Duke.  My foot is starting to feel a lot better but still hurt s whenever I walk or run so tomorrow I am going to Dr. Toronto and get a cortisone shot.

I went and got my cortisone shot this morning.  My foot is feeling very numb.  Dr. Toronto said I could ride a bike all I wanted and on Monday I can walk a mile and run 1.5 miles.  I sure hope it works because I am planning on running the SJ half on Oct. 15.  Leslie and I will ride our bikes after she gets off work.
